Appreciating the huge popularity of DotA-the usual user modification to Warcraft III, Valve decided to create a similar project, eliminating the binding to the brainchild of Blizzard, and in 2009 began work on an independent game Dota 2, inviting the main developer of the original DotA.
The results exceeded all expectations-Dota 2 received excellent marks from the press, became one of the most popular MOBA in the world and entered the number of eSports disciplines. Moreover, the prize funds of tournaments on the second DotA are so large that they have already broken the previous record, writing the name of the game in the annals of the history of eSports.
The essence of the game is to fight two teams (light and darkness) of 5 people for dominance on the game map. Controlling one selected at the beginning of the hero, all players start from the base level and without any artifacts, but killing enemies, gradually increase their level. You can strengthen your character with the help of items found or bought for gold in the store. Gold eventually just drips into the account, but is also given for killing enemy creeps and enemy heroes. Creeps are ordinary AI-controlled monsters that appear on the bases every 30 seconds and immediately rush to attack. The winner is the five who first destroy the main building on the enemy base.
The main feature of Dota 2 can be considered an abundance of playable characters, the number of which exceeds a hundred. All of them differ not only in appearance, but also in the style of play, because they have different characteristics and abilities. Also, each character plays certain roles in the team during the game depending on a particular situation. As in many games from Valve, periodically, after the matches played, there is a chance to get a variety of items that can be worn on their characters.
