How do you do it and still get any farm? I’ve tried ranged heroes, melee tanky heroes. It just seems like any time I’m up against Sniper at m > Assassinate .
How do you counter Sniper at mid?
My only thought is to hold up your creeps and try to keep the fight closer to your tower instead of in the river.

Outworld Devourer , probably. Or someone with a good spammable nuke. Skywrath Mage , Lina (her Dragon Slave do reach Sniper, right?), Templar Assassin could just get close and harass more.
Personally never have any trouble with Sniper m >

Sniper is a cheesy dude and he can beat a lot of heroes in mid. If you are mid laning against him, you might just have to hang way back, admit to yourself that you’re not going to get that many last hits, and make up for it later. If you don’t counter sniper, he can really go on a rampage, assuming the person playing sniper doesn’t suck too much and that the people playing against him are kind of noobs. There are a lot of ways to shut sniper down. One easy way is to pick one of his counters.
Here’s the two counters you should focus on vs. sniper:
1. Spirit Breaker: This guy flies around the map ganking. He can beat almost everyone 1v1, especially when he has his ult up, and sniper is very easy for him to kill. If you see a sniper is on the enemy team, get spirit breaker. After level 6, any time you see sniper alone in a lane (check the minimap to make sure that most of his team is somewhere else, not hiding in the shadows waiting for you to take the bait) charge him. Sniper will probably try to build a shadow blade for escape, so when he does, get dust or gem. Keep in mind, spirit breaker doesn’t just counter sniper. He counters faces, with his fists. He is a gank machine so if somebody picks him you better plan on how to counter him.
2. Pudge: Pudge is another notorious ganker who can destroy sniper. But here’s the thing: pudge takes a little skill to play. Landing his hook is not as easy as pwning with spirit breaker. Don’t pick pudge to counter sniper if you’ve never practiced hitting with his hooks. Also, pudge is not technically a carry, whereas spirit breaker is, so s. b. might scale better with gear in the late game. If the pudge player knows what he’s doing, and the sniper is not familiar with pudge’s shenanigans, then pudge will probably start killing sniper in the laning phase.
A good sniper can probably still out-harrass most enemies in m >

When playing against Sniper you want to be mega aggressive early. He is a slow hero, with bad starting damage, and has low health. You want the first wave of creeps to be on your side of the river, so then he has to sit in the river to get last hits. If he sits there and tries to last hit, just walk up to him and man fight him (walk past the creeps before you start right clicking him to not draw aggro). This forces sniper to try and man fight back, but due to bad early stats he won’t do, meaning he’ll turn away and run to his tower, as he is slow just hit him whilst he flees. If the creeps are in the river you can still do this but can’t do it as effectively.
Once he gets to about level 3 he’ll have enough range to be far enough away so you can’t do this. This is when your life will suck. You have to stand out of his range and run to the wave for last hits, then back out without too much damage taken. Running in at the right time without having to wait a bit takes practise.
Dual lanes would destroy him but I assume you’re talking about pub games.
Hereos who can close the gap between you are the best against him, maybe try a Slark or Bristleb.
Or hereos that can do a high amount of harass, such as Skywrath Mage or Silencer .

A good Sniper is INCREDIBLY hard to deal with. On paper, he has bad base damage, so-so stats (one of the best total stat gain though) nothing to really harass with, and is squishy so he seems pretty bad. His “lane control” is taken by his third skill, which won’t be truly effective until it reaches something along the lines of level 3 Take Aim .
Or so the inexperienced people thought.
He has one of THE best attack animations and the second missile speed in the game (tied with Gyrocopter , losing only to melee heroes). Base damage is easy to compensate. What makes him hard to deal with is the missile speed and animation which were mentioned and his harassment. Headshot first Sniper s deal huge damage, enough to get you around 2/5 of your health if he procs everything at level 7, leaving you open for a kill.
The best way is to just have people gank him, because it’s really easy.
As for hero counters, Silencer does seem great, because he won’t take Shrapnel early.

Gameplay [ edit ]
| Playstyle | |
|---|---|
| Faceless Void is a hero who holds mastery over time. He dashes through the battlefield, rewinding damage with Time Walk , stuns enemies with Time Lock , and causes their abilities to recharge slower with Time Dilation . His signature ability, Chronosphere , creates a bubble in space-time, stopping everything caught within so he and his team can beat down the enemy without retribution. As a melee carry, Faceless Void requires a large amount of farm in order to deal decent damage, but can be devastatingly powerful once he has his items. Faceless Void can be played solo in the off-lane, or with a support in the safe lane. | |

Time Walk [ edit ]
- Time Walk is a Pseudo Blink ability that renders Faceless Vo >Time Dilation [ edit ]
- Time Dilation prov >Invoker ‘s Invoke , Zeus ‘s Arc Lightning or Bristleback ‘s Quill Spray and Viscous Nasal Goo .
- It remains potent against enemies with moderate cds, since time dilation’s duration may prevent them from casting their spell a second time during an engagement.
- If you’re fighting an enemy one-on-one, use it when Chronosphere is about to expire instead of at the start, to waste no time on the debuff’s duration.
- Time Dilation has a great potential against illusion heroes due to its mechanic as it highlights only a real hero . The great part is that it works before and after the illusions appear.
Time Lock [ edit ]
- Time Lock is a powerful bash-type passive ability that allows Faceless Vo >Chronosphere [ edit ]
- Chronosphere is one of the most powerful and most feared area disables in the game, capable of stopping entire teams in their tracks regardless of spell immunity. Used wisely, it can allow Faceless Vo >Rubick on the enemy team. While Faceless Vo >Spell Steal since he is able to cast Time Dilation in order to have it as his last cast spell, but of course, be sure to catch Rubick ins >Reverse Polarity , Vacuum , Berserker’s Call can clump the enemy up together to allow Faceless Vo >Chain Frost , Earth Splitter , Sonic Wave , and so on.
- It is important to remember that while enemies ins >Shallow Grave , Cold Embrace and Purification can foil attempts at getting kills, and disables can still be targeted on Faceless Vo >Moonlight Shadow and Shukuchi .
- Chronosphere’s True Sight also reveals wards.
- Keep in mind that Faceless Vo >Juggernaut can continue hitting targets ins >Omnislash , Storm Spirit can travel through with Ball Lightning , and so on.
Items [ edit ]
- Tango regenerates health lost to enemy harassment, which Faceless Vo >Healing Salve also restores health.
- Slippers of Agility provides Faceless Void with increased base damage as well as a small amount of armor, giving him better farming power and a little physical survivability.
- Quelling Blade increases Faceless Vo >Magic Stick can be useful to get on Faceless Vo >Boots of Speed give more movement speed, important in the early game since he is a melee hero who must be able to position himself quickly for last-hitting and avoiding harass.
- Magic Wand gives Faceless Vo >Power Treads prov >Mask of Madness allows Faceless Void to lifesteal, important for ensuring that his HP remains topped off, especially while farming in the jungle and lifesteal works with Time Lock damage as well. The active also gives lots of attack speed for him to proc Time Lock.
- Battle Fury is a well-balanced farming item that prov >Butterfly ‘s evasion gives him survivability against physical attacks, increasing his ability to ignore enemy attacks while the increased agility, damage and attack speed greatly increase his ability to deal damage with his attacks.
- Black King Bar can be a powerful defensive item if the enemy has ranged disablers nukers that can position themselves to avoid being caught by Chronosphere. Activating spell immunity during Chronosphere allows Faceless Void to avoid being disabled or nuked down from outside the sphere, which lets him focus his undivided attention on targets inside. The item also provides Faceless Void with more HP and attack damage, giving him increased survivability and damage output.
- Vladmir’s Offering is a safer alternative to Mask of Madness , trading away the attack speed in exchange for an aura that affects your team, giving them lifesteal and attack damage.
- Mjollnir is a strong farming and attack damage item that greatly increases Faceless Vo >Monkey King Bar increases attack damage and can be a necessary item to deal damage to enemies with evasion.
- Aghanim’s Scepter is a situational item to pick up on Faceless Vo >Moon Shard can be a strong damage item for Faceless Vo >Daedalus is one of the best damage boosting items Faceless Vo >Diffusal Blade is a sol >Medusa and Wraith King ).

The gigantic HP increase will allow Faceless Vo >Aeon Disk greatly increases his survivability and allows him to counter-initiate with Chronosphere even if he got caught or just to escape but heal back the damage with Time Walk.
