Fall Compendium released – Page 3

In addition, it seems like this will still be really hard to level up with just playing the game itself. Investing in a money sink without it affecting the price pool feels bad. And then there is the whole restriction on trading. Id love to get the Lina set, but at this point your just gambling for it and if your unlucky you cant even buy it from the market or trade for it :S. Not a fan.

I like that the base compendium is pretty cheap, you can just get that and unlock challenges etc. However this whole upgrading items things is pretty poor. When I get an item I dont want to feel like it is an inferior version. Theres already golden version which is annoying but ok I guess. But getting an item and then having to go through the trouble of upgrading it is just a pain.

you know what you should do?
you should buy a fresh new pa arcana and go level it up to level 3.
you will need to win 100 games with pa to do exactly that.

Because they do the exact opposite to their philosophy and what they do with other games like TF2. Their founding philosophy of the marketplace was that everything should be tradeable so people can get what they want. They STILL USE THIS in CS:GO and TF2 and at the meantime milking the Dota 2 crowd for all they’re worth.

They are getting worse and worse. First it’s not tradeable for 3 months. Now things are straight up non-tradeable, non-giftable. AND they re-enabled getting duplicates. So I just got 2 sniper hats that I can’t trade, can’t sell, and can’t even give away to a friend coz I HAVE TWO.

It makes literally zero sense I don’t know what Valve is doing anymore. What happened to Game as a service??

IDK why this is the part that bothers people.

I think it’s stupid to have a compendium for *every* major separately, but with how they’ve implemented this one, duplicates+non-tradeable is the only way that coin rewards makes sense. If you could trade/never get duplicates, then there would be no point in having the crafting/upgrading portion of the coin rewards because you’d just start rolling the higher-rarity rewards once you got all the lower ones.

18m$. that leaves

16m$ from compendiums so valve cashed out 48m$. I don’t see how TI5 tournament could cost more than that.

So Valve isn’t allowed to make money on a game they develop and have been supporting for 5+ years? Personally, I don’t really mind the way TI is done now. I’d enjoy a 3-5mil initial prize pool, but it’s fine the way it is.

For me personally, I will never buy a Compendium that doesn’t give at least 25% of the money raised to the players, and in that sense, for me, this Compendium is garbage. Also, I think the novelty of buying 4 compendiums a year will wear anyone out. There’s a limit to how much Dota, and how many hats people want. I would have much preferred a single Compendium for the entire year, with attachments or something for every event this year. I think this will really hurt the TI crowd funding for TI6, people just will be worn out. For me, two DAC like events and a TI would have been optimal, with a different compendium structure.
