Dota 2 offline non steam how to play 2014

Basically is there a way of hiding the pop up that shows you just launched a game to others on your friendlist? In case i need to hide it from a girlfriend or such how do I do this? She uses a mac I’m not sure how it pop ups on mac maybe someone can tell me: Will she only see it if steam’s store / library window is up on her screen or it pops up regardless of what she’s doing (browsing the web etc)?

It’s not that it annoys her so much we can’t be together unless i stop playing but more about her misunderstanding of gaming as a waste of time she might ask me to go do something else when I just want to play dota, I usually spend time with her after or before daily anyways and she wont mind if its work / study / even hobby related (like basketball) but if I’m gaming she thinks okk you have time to do chores with me lol.. Anyway she’s really nice just needs time to understand a gamer’s needs, till then i rather not let her know every time I’m on a game if possible.

My profile is already private but I think there will still be a pop up showing I got on a game right? Is it possible to launch as offline then go online? Will anyone be able to add me as a friend to test this for me thanks in advance.

PS. I know some will ask why she’s added me well she likes certain casual games in very little amounts like dont starve and stardew which I played with her once so yeah.

then fix the checkboxs at your will; i think you can only set it for all the users

edit: ok, that’s why the offline mode exists, on the place i mentioned above you can also set to start steam as offline, everybnody will see you as offlien and don’t know yo uare playing, but the playtime should be recorded on your steam profile and the games recorded (dotabuff will show them (but you said you have profile private, so praobably you don’t have dotabuff enabled))
if you want to block just her, you can use the block function, she will see you offlien and your profile as private, but if you don’t have the profile private to others, she could check from a non-logged steam (browser) or ask a friend

Wait so is it possible to just block her every time I wanna play something “serious” like dota? She won’t check from unlogged steam or another friends, she aint chasing me up like a detective lol, its simply when she sees me she will want to do stuff with mer instead and in those cases I cant leave a dota match and she wouldnt understand.

Basically I’m asking specically on dota because I can’t leave mid match to help her and she wouldnt understand why you know, and feel sad that I cant stop a game for her. She’s really nice and understanding with everythign else though which is why I’m sure she will understand games later on but till then I’ll have to use this method.
