Dota2 1v1 Tournaments Rules

F. A.Q

Did not receive invitation from bot. What to do?

Bot invitations will not arrive if you have enabled “Block party invites from non-friends” in Dota 2 settings. In order to participate in WePlay! Dota 2 tournaments, you need to disable this settings under Settings->Options->(To Advanced Settings) Socials.

  1. General Conditions

1.1. WePlay! Dota 2 tournaments are governed by the following set of rules and regulations which apply to all participants in order to provide a fair and pleasant experience for all our users.

1.2. For violation of any of the clauses of the rules, the Referee reserves the right to issue a warning (verbal or written), a technical defeat, or a ban (the time is set by the Referee) based on the severity of the violation.

1.3. Users repeatedly receiving warnings might be penalized with a technical defeat or a ban for a certain period of time.

1.4. Google Chrome is the recommended browser to participate in the tournaments.

  1. Tournament Format

2.1. Participants compete in a Single Elimination bracket – a single loss results in elimination from the tournament.

2.2. Game Mode —1v1 Solo Mid

2.3. All participants must select the same hero which is specified on the lobby page.

2.4. All matches are played on a single map. (Best of 1).

2.5. Tournament draw is done randomly by the system.

3.1. The main communication channel for organizing matches is WePlay! Esports Discord where participants must be present during the tournament in order to avoid technical defeat in case of technical system failures.

3.2. You will receive an automatic invitation to the match lobby at the start of the tournament. If a player does not sit in a player slot in the lobby in 10 minutes, the player receives a technical defeat. Players are responsible for internet connection problems, client updates, or other technical difficulties that can stop them from showing up in time.

3.3. If your game lasts longer than 25 minutes, you need to pause and inform a Dota2 Admin on the WePlay! Esports Discord server. Otherwise, you may receive a technical defeat.

3.4. Both players must select the same hero which is specified on the lobby page (the hero icon will become gray after one player picks the hero, but the other player is able to make the same pick). Picking another hero even by accident results in a technical defeat.

3.5. Every player can pause the game up to 3 minutes. The total number of pauses cannot exceed three per match. A player can keep the game paused for a longer period of time with the consent of the opponent.

3.6. If one player unexpectedly disconnects from the game, the other player must keep the game paused for at least 5 minutes.

3.7. If the opponent pauses the game in order to play a game in another tournament, it is allowed to resume the game with the permission of a Dota 2 Admin. To do that, you need to provide an Admin on WePlay! Esports Discord server with enough evidence to support your claim.

3.8. Before resuming, the player who paused the game must make sure the other player is ready. The game can resume as soon as the opponent announces readiness.

3.9. The player who kills the opponent’s hero twice or destroy their tower is the winner of the game (suicides also count as kills).

3.10. A participant who refuses to play a game again requested by the chief Judge receives a technical defeat and loses any prizes won in the tournament.

  1. Allowed: Creeps, runes, jungle, Bottle, Infused Raindrop, shrines, and using Helm of the Dominator on creeps are all allowed.
  2. Prohibited:

5.1. It is forbidden to swear, humiliate, provoke, abuse and deceive participants as well as judges during a tournament by any means. For such violations, the player may receive a warning or technical defeat and lose any prizes won. To report such behaviors, you must provide screenshots.

5.2. Unpausing your opponent’s pause during the first 3 minutes, unpausing your own pause without notifying your opponent and his/her approval, and not pausing the game when your opponent’s client crashes are all prohibited. If any of these actions happen, the Referee can penalize the player in violation of the rule with a technical defeat. To file a complaint, you need to provide the Referee with screenshots proving your opponent has violated this rule.

5.3. Unsportsmanlike behavior is prohibited. Examples of such acts include but do not limit to sabotaging a match, manipulation of rules, exploitation of bugs, and verbal abuse.. Punishments range from a warning to total disqualification from the tournament.

5.4. A player’s name cannot include propaganda, racism, or any form of hatred towards representatives of a certain nationality.

5.5. A player’s avatar cannot contain violent images, pornographic material, propaganda, racism, or any form of hatred towards representatives of a certain nationality.

5.6. A player’s name cannot include a domain (for example: www. google. com or google. com). Such players will not be allowed to participate in WePlay! tournaments.

5.7. Every user can only have one account on WePlay! tournament platform. Duplicate account owners will be penalized.

6.1. All claims of violation of the rules are accepted for consideration within 10 minutes after the game. If there are no claims after the specified time, the result of the match can no longer be changed. It is highly recommended to keep screenshots of all complaints, violations, misbehaviours, and match results until the end of the tournament.

6.2. Technical defeats are issued only after a Judge approves.

6.3. All the above mentioned rules are situational and can be interpreted differently by the Judges for each game in order to make the best decision.

6.4. Any situation not covered in the rules will be handled by the tournament administration.

6.5. Any participant in a disputed or conflict situation is responsible for the accuracy of the information submitted.

6.6. Decisions of the Judges in any situation including those not described in these rules are final and not negotiable.

  1. Prize and Miscellaneous

7.1. Prizes are awarded to the accounts of players that win prizes on weplay. tv website.

7.2. In order for a prize to be awarded, the player winning the prize must have played at least a match in the tournament. Winning every match in a tournament by technical defeats does not make a participant eligible to receive a prize.

7.3 The tournament administration has the right to change and modify the rules at any time at its discretion .

7.4 You can leave us your feedback and suggestions regarding WePlay! tournaments and staff on our WePlay! Esports Discord server or by writing to our support at support@weplay. tv.

The International 7 regional qualifiers format announced

Hopes will be fulfilled, dreams will be shattered. 60 teams will battle next week in the regional qualifiers for a handful of spots to the biggest Dota 2 event of the year, The International 2017.

For a lot of professional teams The International regional qualifiers are the most important step towards a successful season. This year’s International regional qualifiers will run from the 26th to 30th of June in a two stages format that gives to all the participants more chances at fine tuning their tactics and landing the big victory that will have them packing for Seattle. The 60 teams (10 in each of the region) will start in a Round Robin, best-of-one group stage where each team will play against all others nine opponents in their region. Each won game is worth one point and at the end of this Round Robin group stage, the first placed team in each region, except CIS and South America, will be already qualified to TI 7.

The CIS and South America regional qualifiers format is slightly different as only one team from each of these two regions will qualify to TI7, as opposed to the rest of the regions which have at least two spots reserved.

For CIS and SA, winning the Round Robin stage will not be enough to qualify. Instead, the top four teams in the group stage will advance in a double elimination bracket where they will battle it out for the one spot available in their respective region.

CIS and South America regional qualifiers format:

Phase one:

10 teams – Round Robin group, bo 1
Top 4 advance in phase two

Phase two:

4 teams – Double Elimination bracket, bo3 series
Grand finals are bo5 – winners qualify to TI7

In the Chinese, SEA, European and North America regions, the winners of the Round Robin group stage will go straight to Seattle while the 2nd to 5th placed teams in the group will go to regional qualifiers stage two which for China and SEA means a GSL bracket while for Europe and North America is a double elimination bracket.

For those not familiar with the many formats, the difference between stage two in SEA and China vs Europe and North America was needed because of the qualifying slots. Having two teams qualifying to TI 7 from stage two in SEA and China, the GSL bracket eliminates the need of grand finals. Europe and NA have just one team that will qualify from stage two, meaning that the lower bracket and winners and the upper bracket winners will have to clash in a bo5 grand finals to decide which one will secure the tickets for The International 7.

China and Southeast Asia regional qualifiers format:

Phase one:

10 teams – Round Robin group, bo1
1st place qualify to TI 7
2nd to 5th place advance to phase two

Phase two:

4 teams – GSL bracket, bo3 series
Upper Bracket winners qualify to TI 7
Lower Bracket winners qualify to TI 7

Europe and North America regional qualifiers format:

Phase one:

10 teams – Round Robin group, bo1
1st place qualify to TI 7
2nd to 5th place advance to phase two

Phase two:

4 teams – Double Elimination bracket, bo3 series
Grand finals are bo5, winner qualify to TI 7

Habilidades [ editar ]

  • The Meat Hook travels at a speed of 1450, taking 0.9 seconds to reach maximum distance.
  • Pudge receives the Followthrough buff upon cast, which disables Pudge. It lasts as long as the cast backswing does.
    • The backswing of Meat Hook is dynamic, lasting until the hook starts retracting.
    • This means when extending the hook range with cast range bonuses, it lasts longer. When latching on a unit, it lasts shorter.
  • The hook can hit units up to 1400 range away (max travel distance + search radius).
  • The search radius is centered around the hook’s tip. Getting close to other parts of the hook has no effect.
  • Can only affect units while extending, not while retracting. Fully affects invisible units.
  • Cannot hit ancient creeps and invulnerable or hidden units.
  • The hook flies through impassable terrain and trees. It also can drag units over them.
  • Hooked enemies are fully disabled for the entire pull duration.
    • Allies are not disabled. They can act freely while being pulled by the hook.
  • When the hook hits a unit, it provides 500 radius flying vision at the unit’s location upon hit for 4 seconds.
  • Runes can be hooked as well. Doing so refunds the mana spent on the hook.

Dota 2 is a 2013 multiplayer online battle arena video game and the stand-alone sequel to the Defense of the Ancients (DotA) Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne mod. Developed by Valve Corporation, Dota 2 was released as a free-to-play title for Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux in July 2013, concluding a Windows-only public beta testing phase that began in 2011. The game is available exclusively through Valve’s content-delivery platform, Steam.

Dota 2 is played in discrete matches involving two five-player teams, each of which occupies a stronghold at a corner of the map. Each stronghold contains a building called the “Ancient”, which the opposite team must destroy to win the match. Each player controls a “Hero” character and focuses on leveling up, collecting gold, acquiring items and fighting against the other team to achieve victory.

Each match of Dota 2 takes place on a functionally symmetrical map that features the strongholds of two warring factions, the Radiant and the Dire. The Radiant is based at the southwest corner of the map, while the Dire is based at the northeast corner; the two sides are divided by a river that runs perpendicular to the central lane. These factions are defended by up to five players each, and are pitted against one another to compete as the defenders for their respective Ancient. In each stronghold is a critical structure called the “Ancient”, a fountain that provide health and lesser structures. These bases are connected by three paths, referred to as “lanes” – two run parallel with the edges of the map, while one runs directly between the two bases. The lanes are guarded by defensive Towers, as well as autonomous characters called “creeps”, which periodically spawn in groups and traverse the lanes, attacking enemies they encounter. Featured across the map are hostile characters referred to as “neutrals”, which are not aligned to either faction and are primarily located in the forests. Located in a tarn on the northeast side of the river is a “boss” called “Roshan”, who typically requires multiple team members to kill and drops powerful items.

How Comedy Central Can Improve Their reddit AMAs

In the past year, 20 comedians have done AMAs in the /r/IAmA subreddit promoting a Comedy Central program. It is likely that Comedy Central is encouraging their talent to do reddit AMAs to promote their shows and specials. Some of the AMAs have been huge successes and others received little attention. In this post, we go through a few Comedy Central AMAs and uncover why they didn’t do as well as they could have.

#1 Jeff Ross

The title is the biggest problem with his AMA and is likely the reason that the AMA only received a final score of

111. The title simply promotes his upcoming Comedy Central special and does nothing to grab the attention of the reddit audience. His comedy special was filmed inside a prison, so something like this would have done much better:

I am Jeff Ross. I’ve been a roaster on 11 Comedy Central roasts and last year I roasted prisoners at the Brazos County Jail. AMA.

This title establishes his credentials and then gives the reddit audience an intriguing experience that they will want to ask questions about. In the body of his post, he should of then went on to list more of his accomplishments and experiences.

Jeff did very well when it came to answering questions. He answered just about every question that was asked and his answers were funny, topical, and authentic. With a revised title, we are confident this AMA could have topped /r/IAmA and been a huge promotional opportunity for Jeff’s special.

#2 Whitney Cummings

Whitney Cummings is in a similar position as Jeff Ross when it comes to popularity. Any comedy fan will know her by name, but the average redditor probably does not. While the title of her AMA plays to the name of her latest comedy special (it’s titled “I Love You”), it doesn’t give the reddit community any information about who she is or what she does.

A better title for Whitney’s AMA would have been:

I am Whitney Cummings. I’m a comedian, actress, and co-creator of 2 Broke Girls. I love you. AMA.

This title would grab more attention and upvotes because it describes what she does and it includes a notable accomplishment (2 Broke Girls is a popular network show that redditors have likely heard of).

#3 Kurt Metzger

Kurt Metzger is a hilarious comedian, but only serious comedy fans know who he is. A title like this is perceived as arrogant by the reddit audience because it makes no effort to connect with them. The title even prompted one redditor to ask, “Who are you?“. Kurt’s AMA would have done much better if his title explained who he is and included an interesting fact about himself.

Kurt’s title choice was especially bad because he chose not to use one of his greatest strengths – his skills as a comedy writer. Instead, he should have written a funny title that makes people laugh and gets the reddit audience on his side.

For Kurt, it also might have been a better idea to do his AMA in the /r/StandUp community. /r/StandUp is much smaller than /r/IAmA, but it is filled with comedy nerds that would have been much more interested in his AMA and are more likely to know who he is.

Many Comedy Central actors and comedians have done AMAs to promote their content, but it appears that they have very little guidance from anyone that understands the reddit platform and community. All three AMAs were lacking a quality title which resulted in AMAs that did not live up to their potential.

It is a smart move by Comedy Central to encourage their talent to do reddit AMAs, but they should give the talent resources to help them with their AMAs so they can be as successful as possible. Our free AMA guide would have helped Jeff, Whitney, and Kurt improve the title of their AMAs and achieve more significant results.

The new heroes started their journey pretty underpowered, not even reaching 45% win rate in their opening days. Players getting acquainted with their skill set and some balance changes have finally made heroes playable in high level pubs and also made it possible to start discussing them, since it is unlikely they will be receiving anything but some minor number tweaks in the nearest future.

The Reach beta has concluded and the team is now working hard towards the Season 1 launch. Here we share some of the details on the upcoming Season, and what players can expect when they log in to play.

The new patch is wild, with all the positive and maybe some negative connotations this word implies. As such, we are trying to be extremely cautious when discussing it so that we don’t unnecessarily invoke some misguided disenchantment from the community.

62 new items are available for finding, not purchasing. You can now build your inventory through jungling and not spending your gold. Is this good? Bad? Who knows, it’s too early to tell.

The Reach Beta has been a valuable month for us at Elo. The feedback from our community has allowed us to make considerable progress in refining the key automated systems of the platform and we couldn’t possibly be more excited to see people begin to play in Season One.

This is going to be less of a stats recap and more of a farewell to a patch, which overstayed its welcome for at least a couple of months. Instead of going over the same heroes once more, we felt it is more appropriate to highlight some of the heroes which were outside of the meta at the tournament’s start, but nevertheless had a great impact in the later stages of MDL Chengdu.

Bounty runes, come back gold, ancient creeps, camps stacking, and more. The economy of Dota keeps growing and growing but how does that affect supports and cores?

We’ve done a lot of testing with our current systems in the Reach league and are finally confident in opening it up to more users. Divine level players may now participate in Reach, effective immediately.

The first major tournament of the season is finally happening. Get up to date with all the teams participating, their odds of winning it all, and more!

Patch 7.22 is certainly overstaying its welcome and it clearly shows in the current professional tournaments. There are almost no new meta developments and for the most part the Summit 11 concentrated on the same exact heroes as the tournaments prior.

Captains and drafters are some of the most revered pros in the scene. The genius drafting strategies and counter picks can win the game before the first bounty runes spawn. Here are some draft ideas to try out for your next battle cup tournament.

Reach had an exciting and informative first week of games, with over 1000 matches played, and over 1200 unique players participating. Here’s the rundown on week 1, and what’s coming down the pipeline.

The idea of a tanky frontline hero in the offlane has been repeated over and over again for the last several months. It makes sense on the professional scene, while working incredibly well in pubs. Building survivability items and allowing yourself to be initiated on has become the go to strategy for a lot of teams and it is unlikely to change until after the new patch is released.

MMR may just be a number but a higher number is superior. Read this article to learn a few tips and tricks on growing your MMR number.

The current meta has been established for a long time but teams still must find their slight edge. At ESL One Hamburg 2019, we saw more of what we’ve been seeing for a few months now.

Denying

Denying is the act of preventing enemy heroes from getting the last hit on a friendly unit by last hitting the unit oneself. Enemies earn reduced experience if the denied unit is not controlled by a player, and no experience if it is a player controlled unit. Enemies gain no gold from any denied unit. All allied units can be denied once they fall below a certain percentage of health: creeps, and non-hero units at 50%, heroes at 25%, and towers at 10%. However, heroes can only be denied under special circumstances. Illusions and couriers cannot be denied.

To deny a unit, an attack command has to be ordered on the unit. Unless the “Right-Click to Force Attack” option is enabled, right-clicking the unit does not work, since right-clicking allies gives a move order, not an attack order.

A creep is not considered denied if a neutral creep (e. g. Roshan) deals the finishing blow and thus will give full experience to the enemy heroes.

Denying units [ edit ]

Besides couriers, every non-hero unit can be denied, including creep-heroes. They can be denied once their health falls below 50%. Denying an allied, non-player-controlled unit (lane creeps which are not taken over by players) grants 40% of its experience bounty to enemies within the 1500 experience range, instead of 100%. The denying player also gains 20% of the creep’s gold bounty when denying. Denying a player-controlled unit grants 0% experience to the enemy, and also none to the denying team.

Especially in the laning phase, denying allied lane creeps is important to create a gold and experience advantage. It can lead to having a level advantage over the enemy, opening up a chance to get a kill on them. Gold-wise, it cripples the enemy’s farming, slowing them down significantly, if they depend on farming gold. Creeps should be denied whenever possible, although getting last hits should be prioritised. Denying creeps is also important to shift the creep equilibrium towards closer to the own tower and away from the enemy tower.

Player-controlled units can be denied as well, but unlike lane creeps, most summons expire after a while, so that their bounties can be “denied” in other ways than killing them manually with attacking. For many small summons, this does not make much of a difference, but can still be done when possible. Especially when having multiple units, they can be used to deny each other. Bigger summons, like Warlock’s Golem and Spirit Bear , should always be attempted to deny, since they usually have significant gold and experience bounties. Denying these units is an excellent way to prevent giving the enemy free gold and experience when the unit is unlikely to survive.

Denying towers [ edit ]

Towers may only be denied once they drop to 10% health and below, yielding half its gold bounty to the enemy team and half to the denying team. Denying a tower also prevents an enemy player from receiving the 150-250 bonus gold for the last-hit.

Denying heroes [ edit ]

Heroes can also be denied under specific circumstances. A denied hero prevents the enemy from gaining any experience or gold from the kill, but still loses gold upon death.

A hero under 25% health and under the effects of certain spells can be denied by an allied hero. The spells that allow denying allied heroes are:

During Supernova , Phoenix may be denied in a similar fashion if the sun is below 50% health.

It is possible to deny oneself (commit suicide) in a variety of ways:

It is also possible to deny allied heroes with some abilities:

  • Centaur Warrunner ‘s Retaliate fully works against allied attacks, resulting in a deny when its damage kills an ally.
  • Chen ‘s Holy Persuasion , Enchantress ‘ Enchant , Lifestealer ‘s Control and Helm of the Dominator ‘s Dominate can be used on an enemy ranged unit that has a projectile attack in flight, and results in the denial of an allied hero if the attack deals the finishing blow.
  • Oracle ‘s False Promise , if cast on an ally under the effect of an enemy Winter Wyvern ‘s Winter’s Curse that takes enough damage to die from allied heroes will be denied, rather than having the kill granted to Wyvern.
