Ascendants to the Great Seat of Cymurri had for ages imported their Oracles exclusively from the Ivory Incubarium, high in the hollow peaks of the Zealot’s Range, with a downpayment made at the time of the embryo’s conception and the balance surrendered on delivery of a mature, well-trained prophet to the Gate of the Graven King.
Raised by same Pallid Sybils who bred and birthed them, all sanctioned Oracles were anchored by their physical form to the world we most of us share; meanwhile, their souls roamed far afield, barely bound by the airiest astral umbilicus. From such cosmic roamings the prophets would return, speaking words of fire with tongues of flesh. Their mystic utterances were analyzed by the Cymurri Advisors, who found in them visions of the future, diplomatic advice, all the supernatural ammunition the line of Graven Kings needed to secure victory in every campaign, whether in the court or on the battlefield. Thus it went for generations, the Graventome’s pages filling with the names of triumphant kings and the new domains they had acquired. So it went, that is, until the particular Oracle named Nerif arrived to serve the very last of the stone-helmed kings.

From the first, Nerif’s prophecies were unusual. They seemed not merely to portend the future, but to shape it. The weird soothsayer croaked out advice no one had requested, and suddenly the Cymurri found themselves immersed in conflicts with newfound enemies. The Advisors, sensing a threat to their power, were quick to pin these unwelcome developments on the latest Oracle. They demanded his removal, petitioning the Sybils to reclaim their defective prophet and replace him with a worthy substitute. But Nerif described an ominous dream of the Incubarium’s destruction, and within hours came news of the ancient school’s destruction in a catastrophic avalanche. Fearing the same fate as the Pallid Sybils, the Advisors withdrew to their counsel chambers, suddenly anxious to avoid the Oracle’s notice. The Graven King, however, was a creature of great practicality. He doubted the commitment of his overprudent Advisors. An Oracle of such rarity, he reasoned, ought be used as a weapon to enlarge his domain. He therefore demoted his timid counselors and stationed Nerif at his side. With only a blunt understanding of Nerif’s talent, he boldly stated the outcomes he desired, and coaxed Nerif into uttering his wishes as prophecy.

At first, all was well. The Last Graven King boasted that by adopting Fate’s pet, he had made a plaything of Fate itself. He should have taken it as a warning then when, on the eve of his invasion of the Unsated Satrap’s realm, he attempted to coerce a prediction of certain victory from his Oracle, only to hear Nerif quietly mutter, “It could go either way.” No firmer statement could he force from Nerif’s lips. Still, the King was confident in his army. The Satrapy was landlocked, poorly armed, and shut off from all possible allies. He took “It could go either way” to indicate that with tactical might on his side, there was little risk in his plan.

Of course, we now know that he should have taken the sayer’s words more literally. Even with careful study of the Annotated Annals of If, what happened on the field before the Unsated Satrap’s palace is almost impossible to visualize. It appears that in the midst of the carnage, the battle began to bifurcate. At each pivotal moment, reality calved and broke into bits. Soldiers who staggered and fell in battle also stood sure-footed, forging onward to fight. Their minds also split; the warriors found themselves both dead and alive, existent and non-existent. Victory and defeat were partitioned, so that each separate outcome was experienced in simultaneity by both armies. The universe became a hall of mirrors, with all the mirrors endlessly shattering.

The immediate effect on both parties was insanity. Unable to comprehend the state of being both triumphant and defeated, the Graven King’s mind dispersed into motes of madness. The naive Satrap fared no better. The opposing paired realities continued to split and split again, echoing into infinite histories, all of them populated by a bewildered populace that soon lost the ability to feed, clothe, defend, or reproduce itself in the traditional manner.

Long before the repercussions had played out, however, Cymurri’s wary Advisors had seized Nerif, bound and gagged him, and launched him out of their universe at high speed on a dimensional barque, in the hopes of depositing him where he could do them no harm forever. It was, of course, too late for them. And may well be for us.

  • Items which have vertex-based ambient effects on them by default, such as edge glows, require that item authors submit a mesh which defines where these particles should go on the custom shape of their item.

  • Hero items that require effects models include weapons for Abaddon, Anti-Mage, Bounty Hunter, Doom, Ember Spirit, Juggernaut, Kunkka, Phantom Assassin, and Skywrath Mage.
  • Effects model ambient particles can display in different contexts for different heroes. Some display at all times, some only display when the hero has a certain ability enabled, some require first leveling up to a certain point before the related ability can be enabled.
  • Vertex-based effects are not to be confused with particle effects that use attachment points or selection boxes on items.

AUTHORING GUIDELINES

  • To author an effects model you create a new mesh, much like creating an LOD. However, this mesh will represent particle positions, one per vertex.
  • Triangles, faces, and general connectivity do not matter on this mesh. The best way to create a mesh for this is to treat it as a single polygon.
  • Keep in mind that particles will be created from all vertices in the mesh, so do not attempt to create valid convex or closed triangles in the traditional sense if this creates vertices in undesired locations.
  • While it is possible to use the vertices from the original model mesh, generally speaking the density will not end up being appropriate for the effect.
  • In addition, UV’s, hard edges, etc. can create duplicate vertices in some cases which is generally undesirable.

PARTICLE VERTEX LIMITS AND CONTEXT

Here are the particle vertex count limits and ambient effect display context for effects models for these hero items:

  • Abaddon – weapon – 128, constant
  • Anti-Mage – weapon and offhand – 128 each, constant
  • Bounty Hunter – weapon and offhand – 120 each, displays when Jinada ability (available at Level 1) is enabled and is not in cooldown.
  • Doom – weapon – 48, constant
  • Ember Spirit – weapon and offhand – 32 each, constant
  • Juggernaut – weapon – 128, constant
  • Kunkka – weapon – 64, displays when his Tidebringer ability (available at Level 1) is enabled and is not in cooldown.

  • Next switch to the Mesh Tools>Create Polygon. This will allow you to draw the new effects mesh locked to the live geometry.
  • Draw points where you wish to see particles, such as along a blade edge.
  • The density of these points will usually be higher than that of the normal mesh, as shown in the example below. It may require a bit of trial and error to get the proper density for the desired look
  • The entire effects mesh you create will be a single polygon.
  • Once you’ve added all the points, you can export just the effects mesh as either an. fbx or. dmx file.
  • Name your mesh the same as the item with an _fx postfix, similar to an LOD, for example itemname_weapon_fx.

ADDING THE EFFECTS MESH IN THE WORKSHOP TOOL

  • Heroes that have effects model requirements for their items will have an “Effects Mesh” entry between the “Meshes” and “Materials” entries on the workshop tool’s “Select Inputs” page.

Wohooo tak terasa sudah dua tahun berlalu sejak Dota 2 Asia Championship atau DAC season pertama tahun 2015 lalu, sekarang kita sudah ditahun 2017 dan kedatangan kembali DAC 2017.

15 Things That Dota 2 Pro Do But You Don’t

I have had a long chat/interview with a Dota 2 pro player about different aspects of Dota 2 gameplay. He is a pro and I being the noob, replied to my inquisitive questions. He has played more than 6000 Dota 2 games and his Solo MMR is 6823 and Party MMR is 6253 at the time of writing. He had been in Leaderboard in SEA for quite some time. (This article was written back in August 2015, it was deleted accidentally but I managed to recover it after a long time)

I have converted our chat in the form of an article in easy English for the understanding of all those who sincerely want to improve their Dota 2 Gaming Skills.

I will write it down in point form so that it is easy to grasp and understand. Those points are in no sequence, just random, anything came to my mind, I asked and discussed with him including some secret tips which will not be secret after reading this guide.

1. Pro Players Do Not Panic (Often)

Once you think that the game is going like hell, everyone including you is feeding and the enemy team is fat as hell, you will start panicking. But its very seldom that you’ll see a Dota 2 Pro panicking. Once they know one of their strategies has failed, they move to the next strategy and try other options.

Example :

You have a tinker or Nature Prophet in your team, you can start rating. Although it feels and looks bad, but hey, you ever heard Admiral BullDog? The best Dota 2 rat player and his team have won many matches because of him ratting. No one stops you from doing it. This will give space and time to your team and your carries and especially your rat will start farming well. If you got a lucky chance, you can take barracks or even enemy ancient through ratting. Therefore, think and plan for new strategies once your main strategy has failed and do not panic.

2. Don’t Lose Hope Till Your Ancient is Destroyed Because Come Back is Real

Pretty self-explanatory I think. I myself have seen players calling GG WP, Finish Fast etc at 10-12 mins of the game.

Example:

Remember the longest game of Dota 2 between Cloud9 and SFZ? This game lasted 3 hours and 33 mins. Ultimately SFZ won the game despite mega creeps. They could have also called GG WP when it was mega creeps, but they did not give up and ultimately won the game.

3. If Your Team Sucks, it Means You Suck Too Because You are Part of Team

Most of the time” you are matched with players whose skills and stats match with yours. Your Teammates and your opponents have almost the same skill level, almost same hours played, almost the same number of games won and almost same KDA ratio. This is how Valve’s matchmaking system works. Take a look here for more details about how Dota 2 matchmaking works. It’s very rare that you are matched with any players with a lot of skill difference. However if you still see some of the player playing stupidly, that means either he is new to that hero, or he is completing some of his fuc**ng challenge (Thanks to compendium).

So do not start saying noob Slardar, GG Stun, delete Dota 2, you are stupid etc… It will only get you more enemies and believe me it won’t make the situation any better.

4. Define What Role You are Good at, Then Play According to That

Everyone cannot carry and everyone cannot play support because it’s against their natural playstyle. If there is anyone who claims he can play carry and support equally good, then that means he not good at either of that role.

If you like to play very aggressive, try playing tanks or nukers to take a solo kill. If you like to farm till the end of time, better pick a hard carry. If you do not like farming and just want to chill around the map and only want to participate in team fights, why not to go for support. If you can’t do anything, then delete Dota 2 and start playing “LoL” because it is not your game to play. Bonus Point: There is no Kill Steal in Dota 2

Most of the time you find people who keep whining about kill stealing. This happens mostly in low-skilled games. When you go to high or very high skill games, everyone understands that there is no Kill Steal. Only killing enemy heroes matters. So if you are one of those who cries about someone stealing your kills, then please stop doing that immediately.

I don’t say that carries should not take the last hit for kills, they should. I just want to say that don’t let enemy hero escape once he has entered in your trap.

However, there may be situations where supports can easily avoid kill stealing thus allowing carry to take the kill. So, in that case, leave the last hit for your carries. In case you are playing carry, no matter what your teammates say about KS, just take last hits. Because it will be you who has to carry the game later on.

Example:

If you are playing Oracle and got 30 kills, I think that may not get your team a win. But if same kills have been done by a hard carry, for example, Medusa, Spectre or AM, then you surely are going to win the game.

No matter the role you pick in Dota 2, knowing how to last hit is essential if you want to be successful. Last hitting is when you land the killing blow on an enemy creep or enemy hero. Striking this finisher not only gives you bragging rights, but also rewards your hero with additional gold. This gold will be your primary source of income in Dota 2, which is why it is so important to learn how to last hit consistently with a variety of different heroes.

Health Bars On – Right off the bat you will want to make sure you have health bars enabled for all creeps and other creep. Without knowing how much health is left on a creep makes last hitting nearly impossible, unless you’re great at tracking how many hits each of them has taken.

Avoid Auto Attacking Creeps – Auto attacking creeps will only make it harder to guess when to go in for that killing blow and will push your lane, making you vulnerable to ganks. Instead wait for your creeps to do most of the work and then strike the felling blow. The exception to this is when you want to push the lane, or when you are doing enough damage to take creeps out in one or two attacks.

Know Your Creeps – Melee creeps have more health than caster creeps so you may have to wait a little longer before going for the last hit. Another thing to pay attention to, is how much damage the creeps do to one another. Once you’ve got a feel for that, you should be able to tell how many hits from a melee/ ranged creep it will take to get an enemy creep into the “sweet spot”.

Using Spells to Farm – Farming creeps with spells is usually only a good idea when you’re using low mana cost spells and/ or you are pushing the lane. Otherwise you may find yourself in a vulnerable position with no mana and an incoming gank.

Denying – Just as important as last hitting creeps is denying them from the enemy. Once a friendly creep falls below 50% you are free to force attack it (press ‘A’ and left click) and kill it yourself. Doing so will prevent the enemy hero from getting any last hit gold and will only award them a small portion of the experience they would have gained if they killed it themselves.

Tower Play – It’s always a good idea to keep enemy creeps away from your tower. If they do come within range it will become extremely hard to gauge when the creeps will be open to a last attack, especially if you have your creeps hitting them at the same time. If possible, try to keep the waves balanced in neutral territory where you can keep the pace yourself.

How to Practice – Learning how to last hit properly is a never ending battle if you’re new to it, as you most likely will not be playing the same hero every match, and each one does a different amount of damage with their basic attacks. To save yourself (and your team) some frustration, load up a match against (or without) bots strictly for the purpose of last hitting. When you can last hit 80% of a wave, switch to a new hero and learn how to do it with them. Eventually you will have a whole stable of heroes you will fell comfortable last hitting with and will play all that much better for it.

Timing – We’re not talking about waiting until the creep is low health this time, instead pay attention to the time it takes the animation of your hero’s auto attack to go off, and if applicable, how long it takes their projectile to get to the enemy creep. Many a last hit was missed because an attack was a second too late due to the attack animation and projectile speed not being taken into account.

Be Aware of Your Enemy – As if it wasn’t hard enough already, you’ve got to be on guard for the enemy heroes attacks and any possible ganks that may head your way. Many times the enemy will wait for you to go in for a last hit before unleashing their attack, so be sure and tread cautiously.

Items Make it Easier – There are some useful items to get right of the bat that will make you’re life a lot easier during the early levels of farming. If you are a ranged hero invest in some Branches early on to get the most damage for your dollar. More damage means you’ll have a larger window for your last hits. If you’re a melee hero consider getting the Quelling Blade, which gives a 32% bonus to all attacks against non-hero characters.

6.87 Pub Tier List

It is this time of the patch once again—the dust has settled, and it is possible to have a look at what heroes are performing better. Once more, the tier list will only use the “Very High” skill bracket as its base to make it more relevant to the majority of our readers. Given a variety of gameplay changes introduced in 6.87, this pub tier list will look significantly different, and there are many new things that stand out.

Stompers (56%+)

Some very welcome changes have come to the top tier of the list. Both Zeus and Spectre are gone from the pub stompers section, and the tier itself has shrunk to only four heroes total.

The regulars of the list: Omniknight, Abaddon and Necrophos are joined by what can be considered one of the most meta-defining heroes: Lifestealer. He is a tanky hero, who deals exceptionally well with other tanky heroes, making for a very strong case in 6.87.

Several sizeable direct buffs, coupled with a global change to the Strength attribute, have propelled the hero from the “situational” tier he was in the last patch. And if this wasn’t impressive enough, his win rate in 5k+ games this week is above 60%. There is no denying that everyone should learn to play with and against this hero. Luckily, the are guides and matchups sections available.

Winners (53-56%)

Elder Titan and Riki at the top of the Winners tier does not seem real; however, the former, discussed in great detail earlier this month fits extremely well in the current meta, while the latter has recevied a variety of substantial buffs. The extra 40 damage on Blink Strike is a massive game-changer, making the hero a lot scarier in the early game and allowing him to be a successful roamer.

Crystal Maiden has somehow managed to squeeze into this tier. There were a couple of smaller buffs to the hero; however, none of them seem enough to increase her tier standings. One of the possible explanations is how much of an enabler she can be in lineups dominated by mana-deprived strength cores, especially in less efficient MMR brackets. Her win rate in 5k+, however, remains rather low, at

Finally, Warlock seems to be continuously underestimated. He has been in the winners tier for at least several patches now, but he is consistently ignored by most players. This patch is easily his time to shine—his damage amplification can be massive, while the distraught he brings to the battlefield can make several enemy heroes too pre-occupied to actually deal damage to your team.

Solid (50-53%)

Perhaps the most notable change in this tier is the inclusion of Axe. Formerly a part of the “repick” tier, Axe has entered the patch as one of its biggest winners. A strong direct buff and several item changes have made the hero a lot more viable and even ensured his presence in several professional matches. Sadly, his damage potential, despite the substantial increase, is still lacklustre against tankier cores, preventing the hero from entering higher tiers.

Timbersaw is another former “repick” tier hero who has made a comeback. A massive direct buff to the Reactive Armor, coupled with a longer debuff duration on Whirling Death, have made the hero a force to be reckoned with. Additional charges on Bloodstone have also helped the hero to find his role in the world of Dota. Dota 2 tier list 6 86 The hero excels at dealing with both tanky targets and the squishier ones. He absolutely destroys supports and BKB-lacking glass cannons, but also has a lot to offer against Strength carries, substantially decreasing their already limited DPS and taking away a huge chunk of their maximum health with each cast of the Whirling Death. Percentage-based abilities stay relevant throughout the game.

Death Prophet has received a multitude of nerfs in 6.87. The spell-immunity piercing properties, pure damage and extra vision from Spirit Siphon were gone, and the hero was frequently discredited by the patch-reviewers. It turns out trading the Pure damage for extra magical had almost no effect, while the increased duration ensured the lane dominance of the hero and almost unparalleled power level in the early game.

Situational (47-50%)

Medusa has been a viable hero in the 6.86, but her current standing is once again quite low. In the previous Meta, which was dominated by farm-oriented heroes, she was a good fit, but currently she struggles to keep up, and even in her best games she still feels lacklustre. Her DPS is surprisingly low in almost all stages of the game, and in a meta where every core reaches 3k HP with ease, she is not the best pick. There might be a build or two which will still work, but in most cases they are extremely high risk with only moderate rewards.

Tinker has made a bit of a comeback, getting out of the “avoid” tier and entering the pool of viable heroes. A small direct nerf, coupled with scaling damage from magical abilities have made the hero significantly stronger in the earlier stages, while his late-game potential has never been in question. His ability to be a Doom-level nuisance with much higher damage output should definitely put him on the radar for both mechanically superior pub players and professionals.

Magnus has also become a lot more viable. In a game dominated by high-HP cores, having more damage is never a bad thing. He also pairs nicely with almost any melee core, since his cleave allows them to farm faster and deal damage to the enemy backlines. Moreover, with an increase in the value of armor, having cleave has a lot of benefits, since the cleave damage is not reduced by armor value. Being mindful with what target to prioritize, if the enemy team is clumped up, is not a particularly hard skill to master.

Avoid (44-47%)

The biggest surprise of this tier is undeniably Arc Warden. Since 6.86, the hero has received nothing but nerfs, rendering the cheesy BoT+Rapier strategy useless. Despite that, the hero has increased in the tier list and currently has a rather respectable win rate in the Very High Skill bracket. For the most part this probably stems from the fact that only heroes dedicated to learning the intricacies of the hero are playing him currently. Moreover, with the potential for cheesy strategies gone, many players are now devising new ways to build and use the hero effectively, frequently catching the enemy team by surprise. Who knows, maybe we will even see support Arc Warden take over at some point in the future.

Lone Druid has decreased in rank in the 6.86-6.87 transition. His biggest selling point was the Spirit Bear, who could tank tons of damage while dealing meaningful Radiance burn. Very much like with Spectre, the Radiance burn has become less of a factor recently. The 17% miss chance is still annoying, but the damage output is nowhere as impactful as it used to be. Best case scenario, it will zone out or kill a support hero, but it will have a very hard time dealing with the cores of the enemy team.

Finally, Leshrac has brought some disco back. With scaling ability damage and Bloodstone buffs the hero is definitely better off. Not to the degree where he becomes a nuisance, but certainly good enough to make an occasional appearance in higher level games. Speaking of higher level games—the hero has a massive win rate in 5k+ and >20% difference between 4k and 5k games.
