Bristleback under effect of Agh’s centaur ult + stunned, can cast MANY bristles

If Bristleback is under the effect of Aghanim’s Scepter Centaur ultimate, and is also stunned, any attempts to cast Quill Spray will be queued up and then all released when the stun ends, leading to multiple casts at once.

For some reason, Bristleback must also have a point in Warpath for this to happen.

Be Bristleback, level up with cheat -lvlup 6 (or whatever) and take points in Quill Spray and Warpath
Create a friendly Centaur Warrunner with -createhero centaur
Give Centaur an Aghanim’s Scepter with -givebots item_ultimate_scepter
Create some enemy with a stun e. g. -createhero venge enemy
Level those heroes up with -levelbots 25 (or whatever)
Take points in the enemy’s stun
The next 2 steps can be done in either order, but must be done in quick succession:

  • Stun Bristleback
  • Cast Centaur ultimate

While Bristleback is stunned, rapidly and repeatedly hit the Quill Spray hotkey (W by default)

When the stun ends, Bristleback will cast multiple Quill Sprays, doing terrible, terrible damage to any nearby enemies.

When the stun ends, Bristleback does not cast multiple Quill Sprays, and does not do terrible, terrible damage to any nearby enemies.

This video shows a normal Centaur ultimate, then an Aghanim’s ultimate; the bug only comes on the 2nd one. (Lets pretend I did this on purpose.)

Riding Death Prophet to Win City

1. Introduction
2. Items
3. Skills
4. Summary
5. Pros / Cons

Introduction

I’ve noticed many people usually don’t play Death Prophet , but she can rain havoc on the enemy with her tower destroying and lane pushing abilities which end up benefitting the entire team. Most heroes I face mid don’t really expect the amount of harass she is capable of, and ultimately the rune control it provides makes for an amazing start!

Before you comment and/or vote, please read through my description on how I build and skill this really powerful hero. This is my first gu >

Items

I don’t spend all my money initially because of one item that is VITAL to taking mid lane.
The Bottle . (and in a lesser sense, the need for a courir because ANYTHING can happen in pubs).

A few minutes in, you should easily have your bottle and a pair of boots or a magic wand. Continue your farming and start whittling away at those towers.

Soon after with good use of your ult to knock down some towers, get a pair of Phase Boots because the incredible range of Locust Swarm is nearly impossible to outrun. Void Stone for your mana needs which ends up building into Perseverance and later Bloodstone-your bread and butter. It will give you much needed tankiness and MANA regen! Hooray!

Lastly, the final items depend on how your team is doing, I go Sheepstick if the team needs to disable a hero who is crazy farmd late game, like Anti Mage or Faceless Vo >

Skills

The three levels in Locust Swarm is what I prefer to three in Witchcraft because one extra spirit for Exorcism isn’t a big deal and I like to have a stronger push to make sure I have rune control. Plus having the third level in Locust Swarm knocks out the ranged creep!

From there on, the next biggest thing is how late I get Silence . The reason for this is because of your low mana pool between subsequent uses of Locust Swarm and Exorcism . Bes >Silence on more than 1 indiv >

Summary

Early Game: Pick up your starting items, if you are in that pub game where not a single person buys the courir then spend your remaining cash on it. Focus on farming and Locust Swarm the enemy creep wave before the rune pops so that you may dominate rune control and essentially domiante the lane. Get that bottle and boots/magic wand and either gank a side lane if the opportunity presents itself or start knocking down mid tower.

By now you should have one of the three towers pushed down, coordinate with your team and get all the outer towers toppled for some easy gold and a firm start on purchasing your Bloodstone.

Mid Game: Here is where you carry a couple of tp’s while the game is slow and keep pushing those lanes with your amazing pushing power. When the opportunity presents itself, have your team follow a creep wave to their inner towers and ult those down one by one. This is where your ult comes in handy because by the time the enemy team responds, your ult is probably half way through-long enough to last a team fight-and get that needed health regen.

Don’t forget to Silence those special heroes like Invoker, Lich, Lina, and any other spell oriented hero you can think of. Remember your Phase Boots and Locust Swarm make for great chasing abilities, not to mention that huge movement speed buff through Witchcraft . The key to your ultimate is STAYING ALIVE long enough so that you can get the full benefit of a renwed health pool.

Late Game: So you finally made it to late game, this is where Death Prophet loses some of her awesomeness because your Locust Swarm no longer is as manly as you’d like it to be. You still have your amazing Silence and when you pop Exorcism you do a truck-load of damage. Make sure to push those lanes and when you enter into the enemy base, have your Silence and ult ready to signal the GG.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
Can take a lot of damage.
-Able to push lanes and towers down eith ease.
-An amazing silence that is capable of turning around many fights.
-A strong hero all game due to ultimate and silence.
-Capable of leading the team to take down early towers for lots of gold.
-Strong farming and the ability to get almost anything, from what is mentioned above.

Cons: – Being focused down before ultimate finishes.
-No escape besides increased movement speed.
-Hero damage relies heavily on ultimate timing.
-Spells and damage weaken late game.

Brewmaster

Places: Wailing Mountains
Ruined City
Gods: Brewmaster’s Father
Other Lore: Yoy and Oyo

Brewmaster is the progeny of his Celestial father, and mortal mother. Like other Celestials, he has an affinity with the natural elements of wind, fire, and earth. Unlike other Celestials, however, Mangix is the only one attuned to more than one element. Because of this, he is able to split into three separate elemental warriors, although he may not be fully aware of this ability, as he is always inebriated when this split occurs. [1] Mangix prefers alcoholic spirits, and disdains rum. [2] He shares the same ancestors as Storm Spirit , Ember Spirit , and Earth Spirit , and regards Storm Spirit as a cousin. [3] [4] [5] The Ruined City is of particular importance to Mangix, where he hopes to return to one day, and be buried there. [6]

Dota 2: TI 9 Battle Pass Tournament Predictions

ESTNN’s Veselin Ignatov has our predictions for the Dota 2 Battle Pass predictions minigame.

With less than four days until TI 9, fans should be buckling down for a great pinnacle event. Interestingly, anyone with a Battle Pass can make some pretty fun predictions for the tournament. It’s definitely not a new feature, but its a classic in the Dota 2 community.

In fact, there are a ton of different predictions that fans can make, ranging from most picked heroes to which players will perform the best. Today, though, we’re going to focus on tournament predictions. These are by far the easiest of the predictions to get right, simply because we can use data and statistics to make the predictions much easies. Additionally, it’s very important to get them right; players can end up winning tons of Battle Pass points relatively easy.

TI 9 Battle Pass Predictions

Total number of games played in the main event

This is by far the easiest prediction to get right, especially since the TI tournament format is the same as years before. Having said that, last year, the correct answer was from 45 to 49. It’s always possible to see a change due to the high skill cap of the TI 9 teams, but we still believe that 45 to 49 will be the best answer.

Total number of heroes picked

Nearly every single top tournament his year has had its own “meta. Dota 2 latest tournament for serena ” Of course, this means there a huge number of different heroes picked in professional games. However, we believe that the recent changes were not that drastically in terms of nerfs and buffs, which means that the meta is still very diverse and there are many viable heroes.

Of course, there could be a few strange compositions that affect the answer here. Despite that, we believe that the correct answer here will still be 101+.

Total number of heroes banned

This is a very tricky prediction as varies greatly depending on the current meta. Dota 2 latest tournament for serena In general, hero bans in Dota is also related to the picking popularity. This means that if there are many heroes who are worth picking, there will also be a lot of bans. Having said that, we personally think that the right answer here is 81 to 90.

It is possible for this number to rise a bit, but we doubt it.

The most combined total kills in a game

This one is very random because there’s no way to predict how the games will play out.. Having said that, the number of kills in a game is normally related to how long the games go. Since there are some teams at TI 9 which tend to play longer games, we might want to pick something higher than we normally would if there were faster teams in attendance. We picked 101 to 109 because we believe that there’s a possibility that there will be a very long game, After all, there are a lot of (slow) Chinese teams at TI 9.

The longest game of the tournament

As we mentioned, this prediction is directly related to “Most Combined Total Kills in a Game.” If you chose a high amount of kills, you should also choose a long game time here. On the other hand, you could hedge your bets and pick a slower game time, increasing your chances of getting at least one correct. Our pick is 70 to 79:59 because the current meta allows games to go that long.

The shortest game of the tournament

This one is probably one of the easiest one to guess – from 15 to 19:59 is our pick. Historically speaking, there has always been at least one pure stomp in every TI so far. What’s more, there is more gold on the map right now, which can also allow for a faster snowball.

The most kills by a hero in a game

The best answer here is 26+, even though many people will not agree. When you think about the quality of the players that will be playing at TI 9, it is very possible to see some spectacular results. What’s more, heroes such as Outworld Devourer and Storm are very popular right now. And as we know, they are one of the easiest heroes to score kills with, and a serious snowball isn’t out of the question.

The most deaths by a hero in a game

Feeding isn’t really an issue when it comes down to professional teams, but there have been many cases where a position five player of a team gets stomped and finishes with an abysmal score. That’s why we went with 15 to 17.

The most assists by a hero in a game

Again, related to the previous answers, the logical prediction here is 36+. In addition to that, 36+ has been the correct answer for this category ever since Valve introduced the predictions into the Battle Pass. What’s more, TNC is also here, and they always finish with a high assist count.

The highest GPM by a hero in a game

This is definitely the easiest pick out of them all – 1000+. Teams will most likely pick their fair share of Alchemists, and at least some of them are going to have good games. As we know, given the proper start, this hero is capable of breaking records in terms of GPM. What’s more, the range creep’s bounty is now through the roof.

Dota 2 vs. League of Legends: Updating the numbers

League of Legends just hit monthly user milestone, Dota 2 just hosted one of the most successful tournaments of all time, but how do the numbers compare in 2016? The world’s top two MOBA, sharing one of the biggest markets, are often compared neck and neck by not only what type of players frequent each game, but how many players are actively playing.

In 2014, eSports enthusiast Zoe Hawkins compared the two by numbers, and today I’d like to give an update to see just how far we’ve come in two years. I’ll follow a similar structure as I feel the original post encompasses the important aspects.

Number of players

On September 13th, Riot co-owners Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck told Polygon that they’d estimate League’s active monthly player base at around 100 million. While they haven’t released a statement regarding the peak concurrent users, there is a rough 33% increase annually, which means that number should sit around 13-14 million peak concurrent players. Don’t take the number to heart as it’s just my maths, and not official.

Dota 2 is slightly easier to track with Steam Charts offering an updated number of players frequently. August 2016, after the International, Dota 2 saw an average of 635,795, with Peak players at 1,117,519. The number is still surprisingly lower than League of Legends, even though their number has not been officially released yet. According to Dota 2’s official Blog, the unique players in the last month is currently over 13 million, which is a significant increase since the last time we talked numbers. If my maths is correct, that’s on average 87 million less than League of Legends.

The most surprising deduction from the above figures is that even though League of Legends is not strictly free-to-play (in-game purchases, heroes, skins, etc), they still outmatch Dota 2 on a monthly basis.

Prize Money

League of Legends offers a unique monetary system for players and organizations involved in the LCS. The LCS is the League Championship Series, which involves a circuit of professional tournaments paying out at each competition. The players who are part of the LCS also receive a salary, so this comparison is tough one to make. In 2015 the LCS World Championships had a prize pool of $2.13 million, while the crowd funded Dota 2 International 2015 prize pool sat at $18.4 million.

In latest 2015 Valve instated the Majors which paid out $3 million each (there were three). The International 2016, which ended in August, had a whopping $20.7 million prize pool, which is the highest prize pool for any eSports, to date.

The overall numbers speak for themselves, as well as the highest earning eSports players are mostly Dota 2, according to eSports Earnings, who make up the top 55 players in the World. While it seems Dota 2 is winning by a mile, we cannot forget that League of Legends has a very unique system comparable to conventional sports and it’s hard to gauge which title offers the bigger prizes. However, in terms of tournament winnings, Dota 2 takes this one.

Viewership

The most recent data showcasing League viewership came from the 2015 LCS World Championship where League boasted an all-time recording breaking viewership. Below is an extraction from their official statement on 2015 Viewership:

Total cumulative daily unique impressions (the amount of unique viewers that tuned in every day via online and television channels) reached 334 million over the four weeks (from 288 million in 2014). In fact, over the course of all 73 games, we saw an average concurrent viewership (ACU) of over 4.2 million, with the average fan watching for well over an hour per viewing session.

And for the Grand Final:

For the final between SKT and Koo Tigers in Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, peak concurrent viewership (PCU – the highest number of fans tuned in at any one point) was 14 million – up from 11 million in 2014. Overall, the unique viewer count for the Final was 36 million – a record-breaking high for any esports event and a climb from last year’s Samsung White-Royal Club matchup at Sangam Stadium which drew 27 million unique viewers.

Dota 2’s 2015 International brought in roughly 20 million viewers, after their partnership with ESPN for TI5. This number is still considerably low when comparing League’s performance in 2015, but with a larger player base comes larger viewers.

While we would have to wait for the 2016 World Championships (starting next month) to compare it directly to the International 2016, we can compare their numbers to the above shown information. Valve have not released the exact numbers for the 2016 Dota 2 International, but Dota 2 did top the Twitch. tv charts in August with over 33.2 million hours watched. The one number released was for the opening match of the International which brought in 1.1 million viewers.

Rising Competition

If we take a look at the two titles, operating in the same genre, there isn’t any real competition. Smite (the last comapred title) has fallen off considerably, and the only title which now somewhat comes close is Overwatch which has seen considerable growth over the past few months. Overwatch, however, is still in its infancy, and while the numbers are growing, they are still miles away from. For the Atlantic Showdown which took place at Gamescom, Overwatch pulled in 75,000 concurrent viewers. The ELEAGUE Overwatch Open kicks off next month, and again this will truly gauge whether this eSport can compete.

So, from the above numbers it seems League of Legends is still the dominant MOBA, with Dota 2 forever trailing. However, we’d like you fight it out in the comments.

Twitch. tv’s Problem with Racism

Since its inception in 2011, Twitch. tv has consistently remained one of the most popular games streaming platforms in the world. Especially after the fall of its main competitor Own3d. tv in 2013, Twitch has enjoyed a virtual monopoly on the global games streaming market. A look at it’s quarterly numbers for 2018 indicate that this freight train has no intentions of stopping any time soon.

Following its acquisition by financial giants Amazon, Twitch seems to be headed for a brightly colored future.

One of the main drawing points of Twitch has historically been its own version of a chatroom, known as Twitch chat. Through Twitch chat, viewers are able to interact both with each other, as well as with the streamers themselves.
Twitch chat offers its users a wide variety of emoticons to lighten up their chat experience, each emoticon having its own specific connotation to it.
Yet at the same time Twitch chat can be a detriment; the more viewers a channel gets, the more cluttered the chat can become. This can quickly lead to chatrooms that are overrun by a continuous stream of spam, prohibiting any real interaction between its users and the streamers.

While Twitch offers its streamers tools for moderating their chats to combat the spam, this can be a two-edged sword; viewers tend to prefer chats with minimal moderation, and excessive policing can lead to a noticeable drop in viewer numbers. It is then no surprise that the largest channels on Twitch are often those that employ a complete hands-free approach to their chats. An unfortunate side-effect of this is that bigotry is then allowed to run rampant.

In a poignant interview with video game journalism website Kotaku, professional Hearthstone player Terrence Miller revealed how racism from the community impacted his own career. Miller, the only black pro player in the scene, had an amazing performance during his first big stage tournament, placing second. However, whenever Miller would appear on screen, the Twitch chat would be flooded with racist comments. Utilizing a combination of Twitch emotes (special images exclusive to Twitch chat) and racist stereotypes, Miller was the target of continued mockery and hate from a community he championed on the big stage.

Similar problems with racism can be seen in the streams of different games.

In the Dota 2 streaming business, the larger channels also often suffer from a structural problem with racism in their chats. For instance, whenever the hero Monkey King is picked in a game, the chat is flooded with emotes depicting black people (thus directly associating black people with monkeys). Similarly, when a player manages to ‘steal’ a resource on the map from an enemy, the same black emotes are spammed(thus directly associating black people with crime). Happenings like these have all but become mainstream in most large Dota 2 channels, hinting at a structural problem in the community rather than isolated incidents.

That this culture of toxicity bred by Twitch can quickly extend into the daily lives of people became evident when professional Overwatch player Félix “xQc” Lengyel was removed from his team following the posting of racist ‘memes’ (amidst a host of other insensitive acts throughout his career). Lengyel described himself as “raised by Twitch chat”, and that he was “literally a walking Twitch chat”.

Perhaps most egregious is that these racist acts of trolling and hate often occur in the streams of major tournament organizers. As noted above, Terrence Miller’s ordeal happened during Dreamhack, a major gaming tournament organizer. Similarly, the Dota 2 example above was taken from the stream of The International, Valve’s golden goose and largest Dota 2 (and esports) tournament in the world. This shows both a lack of foresight and perhaps more cynically, a lack of care and interest in combating this issue.

Certainly, a lack of moderation is in large part to blame for the rampant proliferation of racism seen in Twitch chats. However, one can also look at ulterior reasons, aside from the tired excuse that its all just ‘trolling’. Dota 2, Overwatch, and Hearthstone, and with them many other major esports, suffer from a structural lack of black players. While the reasons for this conspicuous absence warrant an entire investigation of its own, the lack of identification and interaction with colored professional players can be seen as a root cause for the unusually large presence of anti-black racism seen in so many major Twitch streams. Black people are still treated as an anomaly, like an exhibit to be stared at.

An oft used excuse by defenders of Twitch chat is that, like a large sports stadium, it is impossible to police every aspect of it, and that racism and other forms of bigotry are simply a side-effect that one is forced to accept. These people seem to consistently forget that in real sports, crowd racism is dealt with extremely harshly. For instance, FIFA, the global football administration, has been known to issue hefty fines to clubs that fail to control their crowds. Similarly, several branches of sports have held anti-racist campaigns to target this specific issue (such as UEFA’s “No to Racism” campaign), showing that not only are they aware of it, but they are taking active steps to remedy it.
These kinds of initiatives are unfortunately sorely lacking in esports.

What is preventing any real progress on fixing these issues is the tendency for gaming communities to be reactionary in nature, lambasting the rise of “political correctness” and “SJWs” (Social Justice Warriors). Famous esports journalist Duncan “Thorin” Shields mocked the mere notion that twitch emotes could be used in a bigoted fashion, accusing the people trying to address this issue of “tearing esports down”.

Similarly, when the issues are posted on community forums, the reactions tend to be lukewarm at best . In general people seem to acknowledge that there is a problem, but actually responding to it seems to be too much effort.

Esports’ primary form of exposure comes through the various streams on Twitch. When one repeatedly sees bigoted spam without any real effort from channels to counter it, it is not hard to see how an unknown viewer can be quickly turned off by it. Similarly, one should not simply dismiss it as the acts of ‘trolls’, a commonly used defense when confronted with internet bigotry. Racism for the purpose of ‘trolling’ is still very much racism. For colored viewers, the Twitch viewing experience can be a game of Russian Roulette; when the right ammunition enters the chamber, the chat all but becomes unbearable.

And this is a great shame, because the people defending Twitch chat certainly make a valid point: it can be a great environment for communication with streamers and other viewers, and it does generate an atmosphere similar to those in sports stadiums. Yet why should this privilege be reserved for those not of color? It is for this reason that another common ‘solution’ to this bigotry, to simply “close the chat”, is especially hurtful. Instead of putting the onus on the viewer, it should be on the streamer to prevent these bigots from being able to espouse their vile views in the first place. In this way, everyone can enjoy Twitch chat for what it was meant for; a place for fans of a game or streamer to congregate and enjoy the stream.

Esports craves acceptance as a mainstream sport, and an end to outdated stereotypes of gaming being merely a waste of time limited to children and young adults. Yet as long as these communities continue to ignore these structural issues plaguing it, this all but becomes a pipe dream.

Morphling dota 2 rampage 2016

General DiscussionMorphling Aghs possibilities

Remember that the hybrid can use all the (non ult) heroes abilities and passives. Hybrid and Replicate will be separate making a possible of creating 2 illusions on 1 hero both taking 100% damage and dealing 80% damage.

So real terrorblade making conjure images, hybrid making more, both can use reflection and metamorphosis. NotLikeThis, not to mention a replicate.

2 slardar’s sprinting at you both with crush

2 wr (double shackle 7.5 second stun)

double the amount of stasis traps, land mines

naga siren (NotLikeThis)

eldar titan JUST LUL

Kunkka (man thats a bit unfair)

Lone druid (maybe your bear won’t have items but it will still entangle)

Natures prophet (more trees!)

Dazzle (huskar op)

Lol naga would be stupid hard to play with; all your lanes are insta-fucked [please no]

Techies and Pudge, or Qop easy retarded actions become real

I tried it in a bot game. The effect is so underwhelming as to be useless. Like, you get an illusion which can cast 3 spells. If the hero doesn’t have an active spell (ie a passive) then it’s a wasted ability since the illusion only lasts 20 seconds and doesn’t benefit from any items. Most passives are of course found on carry heroes and designed to provide a way to scale and leverage off items.

There is no single basic ability in the game which can be considered fight winning like how a well placed ultimate is. Even being able to cast a spell twice in quick succession – the cost of an Aghs is only a little less than a refresher orb so if you aren’t buying a refresher orb to cast a basic ability twice in quick succession you shouldn’t be buying an aghs for it either. The illusion spell itself has a 60 second cooldown. It’s only usable on an ally so it’s not like it gives a semi-Rubick style counter for a particular enemy spell either.

Finally of course buying it means that you are running morphling as, at best, a position 3 meaning that it won’t be farmed until much later into the game, unlike other carry type heroes (mirana, meepo, tiny) it doesn’t increase farming potential, nor does it provide a buff type thing for his actual ultimate like some other carry type hero aghs do. Eg compare Mirana Aghs to this – creates a free 300 damage aoe nuke every 8 seconds vs Morphling Aghs – allows a single 300 damage aoe nuke once every 60 seconds and one extra arrow (which may or may not hit) once every 60 seconds and one slight attack speed buff also every 60 seconds.

All of the theory crafting of how morphling aghs could be good with certain heroes like this reminds me of theory crafting how to make a magic the gathering card work – ie all you need is to have 20 energy available with 5 other monster cards with various effects, 2 enchantments and 3 artifacts on the field and then when that’s all in place you can play this card and then that will let you summon a 1/1 create token every time the clock strikes 12 – or something like that. Complete waste of resources and energy for next to no pay off.

Dota 2 spectre pro game

Dota 2 spectre pro game

Dota 2 spectre pro game

Should you pick Spectre?

Spectre is always at the top of win rate charts for pub games and her prowess doesn’t diminish even in higher level matchmaking. However any discussion of the hero soon devolves into how she is virtually untouched in the professional scene and how she might be overrated, easily countered or is an inconsistent pick.

Stats don’t lie and statistics for Spectre tells how not only is she one of the strongest carries in the game right now, but is possibly the strongest hero in the pub environment. She wins more than 60% of her games in Divine+ pubs and is the most successful hero in the game in the last month.

There are many “ifs” and “buts”, however it is futile to argue against this hero: Spectre is a consistent pick, she is not overrated and while she can be countered, the same can be said about every single other hero in the game. Should you pick Spectre? Absolutely. How do you play Spectre effectively? The answer is a little bit longer.

Choosing your build

There’s always been a split between two distinct Spectre builds: one revolving around Radiance and one revolving around early fights and stats. Both of these builds are viable in the current patch, with the latter no longer completely overshadowed by the former after the changes in 7.14.

Slow and Steady

Radiance build is the default build for Spectre for a reason. She benefits from the Radiance aura perhaps the most out of all heroes in the game, giving her global presence and counter-initiation potential along with massive amount of spreaded damage.

The typical progression in this build involves Ring of Aquila and Power Treads for early tankiness, situationally followed by either Vanguard, Drum of Endurance, Blade Mail or even Urn of Shadows. Though the last option is no longer as common, since the changes to the stats Urn provides.

This Spectre build wants to complete Radiance as early as 20 minutes, with 3-5 minutes added if the situational items are purchased.

The reason this subsection is named “Slow and Steady” is because this build doesn’t maximize the hero’s effectiveness in killing the enemy during teamfights. The spread damage is massive, but it doesn’t burst down a single target, but rather makes the whole enemy team lose their HP slowly.

It is Steady, because it maximizes farming efficiency of the hero. Without access to any meaningful AoE or waveclear, Spectre without Radiance farms excruciatingly slow. Given the downtime between ultimates, period when Spectre really doesn’t want to fight, it allows the hero to progress through her items and slowly but surely guarantee herself the dominant position in the late game.

Spectre is not the hardest carry in the game when it is her 20k net worth vs. 20k net worth of the enemy carry. She is among the strongest carries in the game when it is her 40k vs. 40k of the opponent.

By building towards late game, slowly purchasing all the most slot-efficient items Dota offers, she can almost guarantee herself teamfight victories and even though winning a fight doesn’t always means winning the war, it certainly helps.

Fast and Furious

The other build, slowly gaining momentum in both Pubs and Pro scene is the one revolving around early Phase Boots into Yasha, Manta Style and Diffusal Blade. Sometimes it is even complemented with Mask of Madness.

Yasha and Diffusal Blade are the two most cost-efficient DPS items for Agility Cores. They increase both their Attack Speed and Attack Damage, while Phase Boots ensure the extra movement speed to prevent kiting and loss of damage associated with it.

This type of Spectre tries to carefully participate in as many engagements as possible, getting last hits on kills and earning her gold through ganks and skirmishes. Whereas the Radiance Spectre is often the prey, stalked by the enemy team whenever her ultimate is on cooldown, this type of Spectre isn’t as reliant on Haunt and is much stronger when it comes to pick offs, since she doesn’t need to commit her ultimate.

Unlike Radiance Spectre, this build also goes for the Desolate damage talent at level 10. It doesn’t increase Desolate damage by much, but skipping Radiance means earlier Manta Style and since all illusions benefit fully from Desolate, the potential effect is 45-60 extra pure damage on each attack.

So far this build might sound superior to the Radiance Spectre and in certain scenarios it is, however this Spectre can’t farm at all. Despite having decent agility from the items, hence decent attack speed and damage, clearing neutral camps becomes a very inefficient, but often the only way for the hero to get gold.

You can’t show in lane alone, since it will immediately prompt a gank and this Spectre really doesn’t want to be initiated on. You also can’t clear stacks efficiently, so the only option for you becomes finding solo enemy heroes, preferably alongside one or two of your teammates, and killing them for their bounty.

It is also worth noting that this Spectre is often a desperate measure, “Hail Mary”-type of commitment. We’ve all been in a situation where it is 25+ minutes into the game and you just barely have enough gold for Sacred Relic. You can try to finish your Radiance by 28-30 and then slowly attempt to crawl back into the game, or you can right-click purchase Diffusal Blade and attempt to catch the enemy carry off-guard, allowing comeback gold mechanic to do its job.

One other thing worth noting is that “Fast and Furious” Spectre also generally goes for highly specific items that work best against core matchup she is presented with. Unlike Radiance Spectre, who often simply tanks up and gets as many stats as possible to have the ultimate teamfight presence, this Spectre wants to be able to kill the enemy hard carry as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Closing Thoughts

Spectre hasn’t been considered overpowered in the last couple of years. There weren’t constant Reddit threads about how broken she is or how it is annoying to see her win every game she’s in. In fact, community would complain about Slark (50% win rate) or Tinker (49% win rate), but would mostly dismiss Spectre and all discussion about this hero would end with “she’s not played by the pros so she must be bad”.

The reality is, no matter how high your MMR is, your team coordination in a pub game will be a far cry from what good professional teams have. Every team decision will have a delay and even when every single member of a pub team knows his job and agrees to play as a team, you would still take at least a minute to achieve the same goal as a pro team would do in 45 seconds.

These 15 seconds every minute is more than enough breathing room for a Spectre player. She will be ganked, but she will be ganked later and will have a chance to survive. The enemy team will pressure her towers, but they will do it later and it will give her the chance to come online. Ultimately, she is a lot more likely to get to the later stages of the game and at this point her impact from pressing a single button would probably be comparable to the impact of half the enemy team.
