hey people i got lina arcana from crystal maiden spins last TI and i would like to trade it for a zeus or legion commander, anyone inteersted?

No harm in trying – but Lina’s arcana was one of the first ones released and is definitely one of the worst looking ones at this point. The “visual creep” is strong among arcanas. I definitely wouldn’t sign up for this trade, (assuming I had LC or Zeus arcanas.)

Leshrac has a powerful AoE ultimate, able to deal out constant magical damage around him, with his only limitation being his mana and his relative fragility.
Timbersaw requires Bloodstone in order to fuel his Chakrams, as they are his only source of a disable in the form of a small slowing aura which can cost up to 30 mana a second to run. Additionally, bloodstone ensures that he will always have mana to cast Timberchain to escape unfavorable fights, and the extra HP synergizes well with the large amount of armor his passive ability prov >Tinker will often purchase Bloodstone in order to support his ability to Rearm his spells and items, as he can quickly run out of mana simply by casting his spells, rearming, and repeating.

We have three stages in the International 2015 and each of the have their own set of rules and regulations. First we have the wildcard stages in which we will determine the last two teams participating in the International 2015.

TI5 WILDCARD STAGES RULES
Four team double elimination.
All Matches are best of 3.
Winner of upper bracket becomes wild card #1 in the Group Stage, winner of lower bracket becomes wild card #2
Selection priority for one game is determined by a coin toss. Alternates for game two. Coin toss is used again if there is a game three.
The team with selection priority may pick either side of the map or the drafting order.
Brackets will be decided randomly.
The rules in the wildcard stages are pretty straight-forward. We can see how important winning the first best of three is. If you win the first series you have two chances to get into the main event. The brackets have been announced and we now know that it will be CDEC Gaming vs. Vega Squadron and MVP Phoenix up against Team Archon in the first round of the wildcard stages.
TI5 GROUP STAGE RULES
Two groups of eight teams
Each match consists of two games against the same opponent
A 2-0 win provides 3 points, 1-1 provides 1 point and 0-2 scores no points
In each match, a coin toss decides which team has selection priority. Alternates for game two.
Tiebreakers
If there is a tie along the upper and lower bracket div >The group stage will determine the seeding of the teams in the main event, so it is very important that the teams rack up enough wins to be able to be seeded as high as possible. The tiebreakers might also be another point of contention among the teams, as Valve has not yet released who will actually decide on which team is going to be a higher seed than the other one in case of a tie. It might have been better if a coin toss decided the dilemma outright.
TI5 MAIN EVENT RULES
The 1 st place in each group of the group stage picks their opponent from either the 3 rd or 4 th place finisher of the opposite group.

Upper bracket A: Group A Seed 1 vs. Group B Seed 3 / 4
Upper bracket B: Group B Seed 2 vs. Group A Seed 3 / 4 (The team group B seed 1 didn’t choose)

The rules just underscore the need to be able to have a good group stage in order to have a good chance to go deep into the main event. Imagine having the luxury to choose who you are going to go up against in the first round of the main event. The best news would have to be that there will be no one game advantage during the grand finals of the International 2015. The finalists have to pull out all the stops in order to take home the Aegis in this iteration of the International.
A comprehensive matchmaking system is an important factor in being able to enjoy playing Dota, regardless of which hero or role you prefer. Today’s update includes some engineering changes to the core matchmaking system to allow for bigger changes and better analytical capabilities. Over the next year, we’ll be spending more time focusing on various aspects of matchmaking such as intra-team balance, player conduct, new player experience, abusive behaviors, account buying, friend and teamplay aspects, high mmr matchmaking dynamics, and other issues in an effort to make the overall experience of playing Dota more fun for players of all levels. In this blog post we decided to drill deeper into the changes in today’s update and explain our thoughts.
Matchmaking involves various tradeoffs and our goal is to find the best balance between all the different factors. In order to help make progress on finding the right set of tradeoffs, today’s update includes a couple different experimental changes that will last until the end of the season. Close to the end of the season we’ll do a direct call for feedback on how the changes have worked out and use that feedback, along with data we are gathering in the meantime, to help inform the direction for the next season. We’ll also be working towards other features, such as better detection of smurfing and other abusive behaviors as the year progresses.
The first of these experiments is removing the concept of separate Solo and Party MMRs. We expect this to be the most controversial component in today’s update, as we’ve heard fair criticisms of it in the past. We can’t say that we are fully confident that this will end up being a good change either, so we’ll want to wait until the end of the season when we gather feedback and data on how it has played out after players have had a chance to absorb it. There are two major aspects with this change: 1) the teamplay and social aspect and 2) the value and correctness of the MMR value.
For the teamplay aspect: We think it is really crucial for you to not have a disincentive to play with your friends. The game currently overly emphasizes playing solo and establishes a strong social reward mechanism for this, which causes many players to prefer playing alone than with friends. We believe that bias has over time caused more negativity and unhappiness when playing Dota. Dota 2 mmr online Furthermore, Dota is a very teamplay heavy game and we want to consider that aspect a bit more strongly in the hierarchy of matchmaking values. We’ve considered other approaches to the friend and teamplay incentives, but they tended to do a poor job at making it feel actually rewarding to play with friends and only papered over the issue.
For the correctness of the MMR aspect: We recognize that there is a tradeoff here on the mmr data quality if the match has solo mmr numbers with party mmr numbers, however we feel that the impact of that data noise is much smaller than even we initially considered it to be early on and generally with how it is discussed online. Most of the issues related to this we think we can solve with better algorithms. Another common case is playing with a friend who has a higher mmr than you, expecting that it will cause your mmr to go higher. While that has been at least partly true in previous matchmaking system iterations, our most recent version does a fairly good job of addressing this. We have enough data to form matches that cause you to have an even chance to win by carefully choosing the opponents that have a similar makeup. At a base level, we think mathematically we are able to have high confidence that playing with a friend will not have a material effect on your average mmr value with a properly balanced matchmaker. We’ve done some testing to make sure this is true in advance of this update, however we know it’s likely there is more work to be done here and we’ll continue working on this aspect in the background during this experimental period.
Through our investigation into the topic of matchmaking volatility and how parties affect the game, we’ve noticed something that fans likely already know: players have very different comfort levels when playing core roles versus support roles. Some players perform really poorly when they play a role they are not used to, and in turn introduce a lot of volatility in the system for everyone by causing your MMR number to drift away from your actual skill level as well as causing imbalanced games.
So because of that, and because of our abiding love of having multiple MMR numbers, we are adding a new concept of Core and Support MMR numbers. In order to achieve this, we need to know what role you want to play in advance of the match being formed. So for this experimental update, we are moving the Ranked Roles feature to the base Ranked matchmaking and expanding on its capabilities. Now when you matchmake, you will have the option of selecting roles from position 1 through 5 (Safe Lane Core through Hard Support), including multiple selections. So if you like playing Mid or Offlane, you can select those two, or if you like playing Hard Support and Mid, you’ll be able to do that as well. You will be matched based on either your Core or Support MMR.
Each MMR type will also have its own leaderboard, and for the purposes of this short experimental period the existing rank will be applied as the initial rank for both Core and Support. If we end up keeping this feature in the future, there will be a separate calibration phase for each one.
These experimental changes will remain active for the rest of this season for you to try out. Sometime after The International concludes, we’ll issue a call for community feedback to help guide the next steps in our efforts to increase matchmaking quality for everyone. We hope to have your support and patience through this experiment as well as subsequent changes towards the path of making a better overall matchmaking system.
While we were initially going to release this change as part of the Summer Scrub update, the amount of significant underlying code changes required for this update introduces a lot of potential instability. So we are splitting the Summer Scrub update into two parts, this first part for a matchmaking rework, and the second part soon after for bug fixes and a few quality of life additions. Midas Mode 2.0 promises to be one of the most exciting third-party tournaments of the year with three TI-winning rosters, legendary streamers, and all-around madcap fun. Dota 2 fans will want to watch it for the hilarious hijinks that players will be up to.
Organized by Moonduck TV, the competition offers a $150,000 prize pool. Last year, all of the teams pledged their winnings to a charity of their choice.
Midas Mode 2.0 will run from Sept. 24 to Oct. 2. It’s technically three different mini-tournaments due to its online nature, meaning that the three regions of four teams will play within themselves.
While Mr. Midas tried to get Team Liquid and OpTic Gaming to play a final series together, the matchup didn’t materialize. There’s been no official announcement on whether there will be inter-region matches this time, either.

Games will be streamed on Moonduck’s official Twitch channel. Much of the Midas Mode fun will come from out-of-game shenanigans, so fans can expect the best experience from the official stream.

One of the big ways for teams to earn Moonbucks is through bounties. While some of the bounties will be thought up by Moonduck staffers, Jake “SirActionSlacks” has officially employed the community to get involved in the creative process.
Every day, new bounties will be on offer for the pro teams to attempt, so don’t be disheartened if your first one didn’t make the cut. Put on your thinking hats and create some new challenges. Before you know it, the pros might just be bending to your whims and fancies.
What’s the format?
Four teams in three regions—North America, Europe, and Asia—will battle it out in a round-robin group stage. Each series will be a best-of-three match and the top seed will automatically qualify for the finals while the bottom seed will be eliminated.
The remaining two teams go on to play a best-of-three to decide the finalists. The grand finals will be a best-of-five series to determine the region’s Midas Mode champion.
A big part of the metagame revolves around the fictional currency Moonbucks, which will be used for practically everything in a match. Picking and banning powerful heroes, for example, will be more expensive and even pauses require Moonbucks.

The new heroes started their journey pretty underpowered, not even reaching 45% win rate in their opening days. Building survivability items and allowing yourself to be initiated on has become the go to strategy for a lot of teams and it is unlikely to change until after the new patch is released.

Counterpicking is hard to deal with. We’ve all been there before. You queue and find a match. Teammates are alright. You actually get to pick the position you prefer. Seems good so far.
But the instant you lock in your hero selection, the other team counterpicks. They choose heroes that are strong against yours, and take advantage of your hero’s weaknesses. And there’s not much you can do about it.
The match starts. It’s impossible to lane against these enemy heroes. You’re forced to retreat into the jungle. You have to hide in the trees to leech lane experience. Game is hard. At this point, you’re just hoping to get carried.
That’s not fun. You know what’s fun? Counterpicking your opponents. This guide explains how to do just that.
Counterpicking in Dota 2 Is All About Options
Dota 2’s depth separates it from similar games. You can choose from a massive pool of heroes. You can play each hero in a number of ways. The variety of items and talents makes every hero even more flexible.
The options are overwhelming. But this means that there’s always something to learn. Regular players and seasoned professionals have this in common: we’re all learning.
(In all fairness, pro players are learning at a exceptionally advanced level. Pros are analyzing nuances that we plebs can’t comprehend, but that’s besides the point.)
In the spirit of learning, let’s look at the principles behind counterpicking rather than tediously listing counters for each hero.
How to Counterpick Specific Heroes
When most players think of counterpicking, they start by targeting individual heroes on the opposing team. To do so, we need to be aware of the abilities and attributes of our mark. What skills does the target rely on to survive and deal damage? Is the hero a meatshield? Elusive? Mana dependent? Stealthy? Weak in the early game? If we don’t understand what our target does, we can’t counter them.

As an example, let’s take a look at the most played hero in Dota 2: Pudge.
Pudge’s signature skill is “Meat Hook.” The ability deals a ton of pure damage, which ignores Armor and Magic Resistance. The hook pulls a single unit to his location, but requires precise aim.
Pudge’s second ability, “Rot,” significantly slows and damages all nearby enemies. It also damages Pudge in the process.
As for attributes, Pudge has one of the highest Strength growths (Strength added each level) in the game. This is amplified by his third skill, “Flesh Heap.” It provides additional Strength for being involved in kills, as well as some Magic Resistance.
Pudge’s ultimate ability, “Dismember”, allows him to hold an enemy hero in place while absorbing their health points (HP).
We can conclude that Pudge’s primary power lies in landing Meat Hooks. A good hook can isolate an unsuspecting opponent. Once they’re grabbed, Pudge activates Rot and Dismember to finish them off. Pudge can also use his Meat Hook defensively to pull teammates out of trouble. As for attributes, Pudge is beefy. The hero naturally has a ton of HP thanks to his Strength growth and Flesh Heap skill.
Five Ways to Counter Pudge
Based on these observations, which heroes can we pick to counter Pudge?
Mobile heroes. We can dodge Meat Hooks. (Queen of Pain, Puck, Storm Spirit)
Heroes who spawn illusions or summon units. We can block hooks with dummies. (Lycan, Phantom Lancer)
Heroes with good vision. It’s easy to avoid hooks if we can see where Pudge is. (Night Stalker, Clockwerk)
Heroes with armor reduction abilities. High HP heroes typically lack armor. Pudge is no exception. (Ex: Bristleback, Dazzle)
Heroes that deal percentage-based damage. Abilities that don’t deal a flat amount of damage are super effective against beefy heroes. (Lifestealer, Timbersaw)
There are many ways to deal with any individual hero. But you need to understand their strengths and weakness first. The best way to do this is to play the hero a few times. (For those who lack time or patience, I recommend Turbo mode.)
The ideal counterpick to address a certain hero will change from match to match, and also depends on who the other heroes in the game are.
Counterpicking The Other Team’s Draft
I have a confession to make.
For most of my DotA/Dota 2 playing experience, I completely ignored the other nine heroes in the game. I didn’t think it was that big a deal. I just played whatever hero I wanted. And I built whatever items I felt like. It wasn’t until I started watching professional matches that I realized how much I had been missing.
