I have been having a stutter issue in my game where it runs smoothly for about 10 seconds and then the game locks up and freezes for about 3 seconds

It is impossible to play like this i have tried uninstalling, setting certain launch options, verify integrity of game cache, nothing works. Very frustrating cant cs or play properly ):

So, your computer came out of suspend/hibernate and now the issue started?

restart computer, there is no other fix, icefrog can’t code, valve doesn’t care, and there’s no point in playing after 7.00

my computer is new i have had it for 2 months max it is an issue with the game

ok, i can tell what happen.

are you using laptop or desktop.

from your GHz on your spec, i can tell you overclock your computer.

if it isn’t overclock, then the the GHz for both should be the same number. e. g 2.2GHz @ 2.2GHz.

in other words, your computer overheats and it causes your computer to crash as a result.

if you using a laptop, kindly get an external cooling fan below your laptop to offset the overheating problem and also, make sure your power plan is set to “balance” and not “high performance”.

high performance power plan will cause your laptop to overheat much faster since it uses up your laptop battery faster.

if you using a desktop, make sure your CPU get lots of ventilation. (have a fan that is on the wall blowing at your CPU, don’t box in your CPU as well)

also kindly close all the programs before you play dota 2.

my game does not crash nor does my pc get hot (i am using a desktop)

then your CPU overheats like what i said.

just the CPU internal fan is not enough to prevent it from overheating.

computers overheating is a very common problem and it is the main issue of causing computers to have multiple problems.

you can’t depend on the CPU internal fan itself to prevent overheating from occuring.

this is what is written about overclocking your CPU.

Simply put, overclocking means setting your CPU and memory to run at speeds higher than their official speed grade. Almost all processors ship with a speed rating. For example, an Intel Core i7 860 runs at 2.80GHz out of the box. Overclocking a Core i7 860 means pushing it to a clock speed higher than 2.80GHz.

this is about overclocking GPU.

Overclocking a GPU will often yield a marked increase in performance in synthetic benchmarks, usually reflected in game performance. It is sometimes possible to see that a graphics card is being pushed beyond its limits before any permanent damage is done by observing on-screen artifacts.

this is the cons for overclocking your computer.

Parts will heat up much more than usual – this means the need for aftermarket CPU coolers, and higher fan speeds

The excess heat also makes products last a significantly less amount of time, depending on how much heat it outputs. Heat = less life span (the life of an overclocked CPU is about 5ish years, give or take)

Takes a long time to overclock, and it’s very finicky

Not all parts will overclock the same way. GPUs are different from CPUs

Each CPU or GPU overclocks differently (silicon lottery). One 4690K might get 4.7ghz at 1.3V while another gets only 4.5 or 4.4 Ghz at the same voltage

Overclocking can also make your PC unstable. Make sure to stress test for at least 24hrs to ensure stability.

here is the website that tells you the pros and cons of overclocking your computer.

from my opinion, if you got a high end computer, then there isn’t a need to overclock your computer since you can run most games without overclocking it.

ESports Experts Weigh In On Growing Opportunities

The advent of Twitch, Azubu and livestreaming over the past three years has helped fuel the explosive growth of eSports, or electronic sports. With companies like Valve (Dota 2), Riot Games (League of Legends), S2 Games (Heroes of Newerth) and Blizzard Entertainment (StarCraft 2) offering millions of dollars in prizes with annual tournaments and seasons and full-on leagues like Major League Gaming, Electronic Sports League and others turning pro gamers into cyber athletes; there’s a new way to connect with the elusive 18 to 34 year old male gaming demographic.

Back in the Day

“back then people could get away with almost anything. Companies could abuse professional players.”

“When I first got involved in esports it was very niche,” said Steven Arhancet, director of eSports at Curse. “Back in those days we were talking thousands of people around the world and we’re joining proxy servers to watch games and download the demos. No one could really get involved. There were lots of small sites, but there was no real viewing for your average user. You had to be quite specialized and involved in the scene. Nowadays thanks to the development of flash streaming anyone can be involved with the click of a button.”

Sam Braithwaite, director of eSports at S2 Games, remembers when eSports prize pools were $15,000 versus the $8 million Riot gave out this year. In the early days there were also issues with actual payments being made on occasion, which left some pros high and dry without social media to reach out to.

“Esports the past couple of years has grown in a professional way where every single person is accountable, including the players and the tournament organizers,” said Braithwaite. “With Twitter, Twitch and Facebook, professional gamers have a huge followings that would have jumped down those companies throats. But back then people could get away with almost anything. Companies could abuse professional players. They could get away with exploiting them and their fame to draw attention, and then stiff them. In terms of the biggest growth I’ve seen with eSports it’s definitely accountability and professionalism.”

Livestreaming Comes of Age

ESports is growing worldwide. The rise of livestreaming has opened up new opportunities for brands to connect with pro gamers during practice sessions. And then there are the huge global events that Major League Gaming, Electronic Sports League, World Cyber Games, League of Legends Championship Series and other big events that happen annually.

Riot Games sold out Staples Center League of Legends Finals as a pivotal moment for eSports. In addition to the 15,000 people who packed the stadium, over 32 million people watched the competition online.

“These events cost a lot of money to put on and can’t happen every week, but what’s really encouraging news is that teams in between events are getting huge numbers as well,” said Paul Kent, COO for Gfinity. “I’m aware of a team in France that’s less than six months old who are getting 9 million uniques per month. Two or three years ago that was unheard of. That’s the most encouraging thing, that people are now associating themselves with the teams and the players rather than just the big events.”

David Miller, vice president of sales and marketing at Azubu, said that the numbers that livestreaming companies like Twitch, Azubu and YouTube are getting today are already on par with traditional broadcast programming or sports content. With eSports growing at a fast clip, what the eSports industry needs to help legitimize it is a watchdog group to offer real concrete numbers like what Nielsen does for TV.

“There are a lot of different numbers that get bounded about like overall views, video on demand views and peek concurrent views,” said Miller. “There’s a lot of work that we all have to do to educate the sector. Video advertising is set to grow to $6 billion by 2017 with annual growth rate of 13 percent year on year between now and then and that’s great news for everyone in eSports.”

Desperately Seeking Gamers

One of the keys is making the “suits” understand the potential of this audience. With companies like Coca Cola, Papa John’s Pizza, American Express and Mazda already involved in eSports, the tide is turning in favor of more money flowing into events. Miller said the fact that Twitch viewers are spending twice the amount of time glued to eSports programming as Hulu’s 55 minute average is also important for advertisers and sponsors interested in connecting with the elusive “gamer” audience.

Simon Bennett, head of eSports, EU, at Wargaming, said that eSports players are integral to the health of the game industry, especially with free-to-play games.

“It was just fans making events and enjoying themselves with other groups of dedicated individuals,” said Bennett. “For free-to-play games like World of Tanks and League of Legends, a fundamental part of the marketing strategy is to utilize eSports. It’s been proven that eSports players are worth a lot more than a normal player because they have such an influence over the community in general that they directly influence the purchase of gold items, skins, characters and other micro-transactions.”

ESports is not a fad

The Internet has eliminated the need for television, and allowed for the live consumption of events with huge engagement. Even practice sessions keeps fans glued to their screens, opening up new ways to connect with a core gamer demographic.

Azubu and Hitbox have a new streaming platform, but what’s the point?

The “Twitch-rival” clings to a cliff as its investors are likely bankrupt—again.

After a brief period of silence, Azubu is making headlines again.

The troubled streaming company launched another Twitch competitor earlier this week. Called Smashcast, the site is a combined enterprise between the company and another one-time Twitch competitor, Hitbox, which Azubu acquired earlier this year.

It’s another big splash for Azubu, but don’t expect Smashcast to suddenly become a Twitch killer.

Azubu acquired Hitbox for a sum reportedly worth “tens of millions of dollars,” according to an LA Times report. The new Smashcast platform is set on becoming a “strong #2 competitor to Twitch and the largest independent esports broadcaster outside Asia,” according to the press release.

Smashcast’s weaponry to attack Twitch’s dominance looks slim, however. Mike McGarvey, Azubu’s third CEO in six years and now boss at Smashcast, hasn’t much to show off. There’s a new viewer engagement feature—oddly called the “Hype-o-Meter”—and a “state-of-the-art 4K-ready content production studio” in Vienna, Austria. Dota 2 azubu riot

Hitbox founder Martin Klimscha, now Smashcast’s European Managing Director, emphasized that Smashcast wants to make sure that “we are differentiated from our competitors.” The capability to run 4K-streams was already introduced by Hitbox in June 2015, however. What exactly has changed technology-wise since then remains unclear.

Both companies appear to be grasping at straws with this latest project. Hitbox, founded in 2013, struggled to attract attention in the livestreaming market, despite its technological advantage and a $4 million funding round in November 2015. Azubu’s history in esports and its attempt to dethrone Twitch is even more troubling.

In January, LA Times tech reporter Paresh Dave wrote an extensive piece about Azubu’s unusual funding. Backed by Sapinda Group’s Lars Windhorst, a German entrepreneur and investor that had to declare bankruptcy two times in the past, Azubu was run on “tiny, monthly installments of debt that could be paid back with company stock.” Sapinda poured upwards of $40 million into Azubu over the course of four years, $1 million or so per month, often days after bills came due, sources told LA Times.

To this day, the company is behind on bills, sources who wish to remain anonymous told Dot Esports.

Its $59 million debt-financed cash injection from Sapinda Group and Swiss bank Sallfort Privatbank, announced Dec. 2015, was “money [that] never materialized,” one source said. “Everyone thought we had it. And we were told to spend like we had it.”

The latest change to Azubu’s management level indicates otherwise, however. After his arrival in May 2016, McGarvey cut monthly expenses in half by reducing the headcount from 75 to 50 people and terminating contracts with streamers.

Nonetheless, Azubu—now Smashcast—appears to be an esports zombie. The company is being drip-fed by its investor, who, according to a Wall Street Journal report, is in deep financial trouble again. Windhorst had to settle several multi-million dollar disputes in the last couple of months and is reportedly selling a $25-million upmarket apartment near London’s Hyde Park.

How and why is Azubu still alive, then? According to one source close to the situation, it’s to demonstrate Windhorst’s rich investment portfolio.

“Lars ran out of money and is keeping [Smashcast] alive in his portfolio to show diversification into tech for any potential Sapinda investors,” the source said.

If that’s the case, Smashcast and its latest attempt to grab attention as a Twitch rival, is nothing more than window dressing.

After all, with YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter are all emerging as potential contenders on the livestreaming market, Smashcast’s chances to establish itself as the runner-up after Twitch seem negligible.

Azubu and Hitbox boast a combined monthly active user peak of 20 million in 2016. Twitch averages about 10 million active users—every day.

Mouse Pointer Problem / Bug Ingame Dota2 (Black Comb-Shaped Pointer) *FIXED*

5/1/12
Hey guys. I’ve been catching this bug frequently now but not in all the games that i play.

I do not know what i do but somehow ingame my mouse changes from the normal arrow pointer to a comb-shaped black bar. It works fine and normally just like any pointer would, but what irritates me a lot since playing the comb-shaped blackbar pointer ingame i can’t really do any precise clicking, since there isn’t a definite shape to the mouse. Even after game when i close Dota 2 the Black comb pointer still occurs as i’m typing this right now it’s just here and i’m using it. The pointer restarts as a normal pointer when i reboot the PC. I do not know how this happens, but i am quite certain that this ONLY happens in Dota2 no other game in my PC actually bugs my mousepointer like this.

I would take a screen shot of it but i tried PrtScn and paste the pointer wasn’t seen in the photo, so any suggestions on

-how to fix the problem
-how to screenshot with the mouse pointer
-and people who are having the same problems will be greatly appreciated.

Update: 5/2/12 , 9/21/12

The Black Comb-Shaped Pointer is NOT a problem with Dota 2. It happens whenever the pointer is in a stressful switching animation area ex.(when the mouse pointer goes back and forth on the yellow shop button.) Extra info.

The problem is with the ATI / AMD Radeon Graphics Cards. Specifically series “4850-7850”
And according to other people from other forums it DOES happen to other games as well ex. SC2 & TF2, as long as you have an outdated AMD / ATI Radeon Graphics Card Driver installed

5 ways to get rid of the black comb-shaped mousepointer

When ingame
1) Minimize the Dota2 Window by pressing the *Start button.
2) Go back to Dota 2
3) Left* Click the Yellow shop button three-five times
-If it doesn’t work Repeat from step 1.

After the game. (Updating your Graphic Card)
1) Close Dota 2
2) Click Steam Main Window (Where all of the News, Community etc. are in)
3) Upper Left Corner of the Window click *Steam*
4) Click on Update AMD Video Drivers.
5) Wait for the Download to Finish.
6) Install and Reboot the PC.

After the game *or* while the game is paused.
1) Right click desktop
2) Screen res
3) Only show display on second monitor
4) click apply and then revert when box pops up (takes roughly 10 seconds)

When in-game
1) Hit the start button that will make you go to the desktop.
2) Go back to Dota 2 and swipe your mouse pointer back and forth the screen really fast.
*More often the not the mouse pointer will become the small pointer you use in the desktop, then after sometime it will go back to the original dota 2 gaming pointer.
3) If it doesn’t work repeat from Step 1.

Last Way to get rid of it is simply Reboot the PC, but it might be a hassle for other people with slow startup so i included the other three other alternative ways on fixing it.

[NOTE THAT ALL THE FIX LISTED HERE HAVE BEEN TESTED AND HAVE WORKED. ]

__________________________________________________ ______________________________
Update: 5/30/12
I’ve been playing for about a month now and updating your graphic card drivers doesn’t really stop the problem fully, but you can instantly fix it.

Simply when you see the black comb shaped mouse pointer bug hit the start button that will make you go to the desktop. Go back to Dota 2 and swipe your mouse pointer back and forth the screen really fast. More often the not the mouse pointer will become the small pointer you use in the desktop, then after sometime it will go back to the original dota 2 gaming pointer.

Dota 2 Esports: StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Overview

The StarLadder ImbaTV Minor is only a day away! But it’s another double tournament week of Dota 2, with the WESG 2018-2019 event running simultaneously. If you’re looking for a quick and easy guide to help you keep on top of everything we can expect to see in Kiev, we’ve got you covered.

StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor

The Minor will be Starladder and ImbaTV’s first Minor of this year’s season. The winner will qualify for the final spot in the DreamLeague Season 11 Major, held later this month.

A total of eight teams will fight for not only the spot in the Major, but a $300,000 USD prize pool, and qualification points for TI9 later this year.

Format

Our eight teams are made up of two teams from CIS and China, and one team from each other competing region. (NA, EU, SEA and SA.)

The format for this minor will be GSL based, beginning with the group stages, where will see two groups of four teams. All teams will play a Bo3 series.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, while the bottom two teams will be eliminated.

The playoffs will be Single-Elimination, with a Bo3 semifinals and Bo5 grand finals to wrap up the competition.

Groups and opening matches have already been announced. In Group A we’ll see Royal Never Give Up, OG, Flying Penguins and Old but Gold facing off for a spot in the semi-final playoffs. In Group B Vici Gaming, BOOM ID, Gambit Esports and Demolition Boys will battle it out for their chance at the top prize.

South American team, Demolition Boys, qualified for the Minor under the name Team Ood, before rebranding during the break between the SA Qualifiers and the Minor event.

While there’s no doubt that we’re in for an exciting tournament, there’s always some teams who stand out in the lead up to as event. The path to this Minor has been no different. Let’s look at some of the teams whose performances so far earned themselves a spotlight for tomorrow’s opening matches.

Group A – Royal Never Give Up – China

Royal Never Give Up have been one of the most interesting teams to watch throughout the 2019 tournaments. Their recent performance at MDL Macau was something of a Cinderella story, with some unexpected victories against team Liquid and Virtus. pro during the round robin event.

But the fairy tale ended in round two of the playoffs. Will RNG be able to deliver a stronger performance this time and make it to the main event? We’ll know for sure after they meet Flying Penguins in their opening match tomorrow.

Group A – OG – EU

OG are competing in this Minor off the back of a strong performance at ESL One Katowice, where they made it all the way to the lower bracket finals, going home with third place.

The TI8 winners finally seem to be finding their feet with stand-in Igor ‘iLTW’ Filatov. He took out the MVP award at WePlay! Dota 2 Winter Madness earlier this year and played an instrumental role in the team’s win over Fnatic in the playoffs.

iLTW replaced OG’s carry, Anathan ‘Ana’ Pham, at the start of the 2018-2019 season. But Ana will make his return to the scene this week. He’s playing for Australia at the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG).

Whether or not this means this will be iLTW’s last competition with OG is still uncertain. There’s no official word yet on Ana re-joining the team’s roster, and he’s still currently listed as one of OG’s inactive players.

Regardless, we’ll see iLTW and the boys from OG go head to head with CIS team, Old but Gold, in their opening match of the Minor.

Group B – BOOM ID – SEA

Thanks to the overlap of the tournament schedules, BOOM ID gave up their spot at WESG in Chongqing to play in this Minor.

BOOM have been a strong team this season, putting in a great performance throughout the qualifiers, and shocking some with their stomp of better-known SEA teams like FNATIC and Mineski. There opening series will pit them against Gambit Esports.

We chatted with Khezcute from Boom ID just after the team qualified for Kiev, who’s confident the team have gained enough international experience to help them perform their best at this event.

Like RNG, BOOM ID have had a great ride this season, and both have had something of a dramatic rise to prominence since the start of this year in particular. If these two fairy tale teams come up against each other in the play offs, it will be a series to watch.

Group B – Gambit Esports – CIS

Gambit Esports have had a solid start to 2019. They took out first place in both Dota 2 Madness events run by WePlay! this year. They’ve also placed second twice. Nabbing at the number two spot at the Bucharest Minor in January, and then taking second place again at ESL One Katowice last month.

The boys from CIS will face against the winners of the SEA qualifiers, BOOMID in their opening match of the Minor. This will be the first time these two teams encounter each other in the tournament circuit. BOOM’s recent winning performances have been fast-paced, while Gambit’s victory over OG at Katowice has shown they can play hard into the late game. It will be interesting to see how these two teams approach each other in their opening match, and who will end up advancing to the playoff stage.

The Starladder ImbaTV Minor start tomorrow. You can tune in live on StarLadder’s stream or watch on Twitch. Want more Dota 2 action? Follow us on Twitter and YouTube to stay up to date with all the latest Dota 2 news and esports highlights.

Night Stalker gets some well-deserved nerfs in Dota 2’s 7.22h patch

Five heroes nerfed, four items worsened, and a partridge in a pear tree.

This article is brought to you by StatBanana, the best Dota 2 strategy tool.

Another minor Dota 2 gameplay update has been pushed out to address some overpowered heroes right before the start of the Dota Pro Circuit qualifiers.

While there hasn’t been much professional Dota 2 happening right now aside from the meme-filled Midas Mode 2.0 and the qualifiers for ESL One Hamburg, these heroes have been dominating in high-level public games and were hit by the nerf hammer.

DOTA 2 on Twitter

The 7.22h Gameplay Update has been released https://t. co/JmLELWKmnF

Night Stalker

Hunter in the Night

  • Hunter in the Night attack speed reduced from 30/50/70/90 to 20/40/60/80.

Crippling Fear

  • Crippling Fear duration reduced from 5/6/7/8 to 4/5/6/7.

Talents

  • Level 20 Talent reduced from +50 Damage to +40.
  • Level 25 Talent reduced from +140 Hunter in the Night to +110.

Night Stalker has been a terror to play against in any public game. No matter how bad the laning stage went for the hero, his ultimate, Dark Ascension, makes him the strongest hero in the game for 30 seconds. Flying vision, free pathing, and additional damage makes for one of the strongest ultimates in the game.

If Balanar wasn’t strong enough, the purchase of an Aghanim’s Scepter turns him into an AoE monster, transforming Void into a 900-radius ability that allows him to farm, clear waves, and send enemy heroes into oblivion.

It’s unsurprising that Night Stalker received a few nerfs, but none have touched his two strongest spells or the upgrade. Rather than mess with his early-game ability, IceFrog has nerfed his late-game carry potential by reducing the attack speed gained from both his passive and talents.

The main problem with the hero was that he was simply too versatile, seeing play in all three lanes due to his lack of weaknesses. He barely loses lane in the day due to his beefy stats despite reduced vision and weaker abilities, and then he terrorizes enemies at night. Coupled with his ridiculous carry potential with Aghanim’s and his level 25 talent, Night Stalker shot up to first on the win rate charts across all brackets. The nerf has brought this hero back down slightly, but he likely remains first-pick material and an obnoxious threat with barely any counters.

Items

Medallion of Courage

  • Armor reduced from six to five.

Phase Boots

  • Armor reduced from five to four.

Ring of Protection

  • No longer available in side shop.

Solar Crest

  • Armor reduced from 10 to eight.

Night Stalker is practically responsible for Phase Boots and Solar Crest to be nerfed again in 7.22h. Solar Crest, and by extension its build-up Medallion of Courage, was the item of the tournament at The International 2019, purchased in every game as a core utility item. Previous nerfs in 7.22g barely slowed it down and Night Stalker’s insane synergy with the item brought it to the forefront again.

Ring of Protection will be removed from the side shop due to the prevalence of position four supports purchasing a Sage’s Mask and upgrading it in lane for Ring of Basilius. Eight damage paired with an armor and mana regeneration aura was just too efficient. Now, players will have to choose between extra regeneration or moving out of base with a completed Basilius.

Avalanche

  • Avalanche damage decreased from 90/160/230/300 to 75/150/225/300.
  • Toss cooldown increased from 11 to 17/15/13/11.

Despite the hero’s dismal pub win rate, which is the fifth-lowest in the game, IceFrog decided to bash in the rolling stone. Tiny’s roaming strength has been reduced, with Toss having a much higher cooldown in the earlier levels. This generally hurts a support Tiny more than a core. Since supports are more starved for levels and Avalanche is generally maxed out first, this means that players will be stuck with a weakened Tiny for much of the laning stage.

Three other heroes—Kunkka, Mirana, and Winranger—were also nerfed again. Kunkka received cooldown nerfs, Mirana had her Sacred Arrow travel speed and Leap attack speed reduced, and Windranger took a minor hit to her level 10 mana regeneration talent. No heroes were buffed in this patch.

Traditionally, the big post-TI update will be released after the first Major, so Dota fans are unlikely to see any major reworks until then. If Night Stalker remains a top pick, Dark Ascension or the Aghanim’s Upgrade will likely be reworked again. For now, get ready to see some Balanar being played at the DPC qualifiers beginning Oct. 5.

Dota 2 fails to start

I had to reinstall Steam and Dota 2 after Avast wrongly flagged the downloading client. dll as a trojan. Unfortunately, Dota 2 doesn’t start at all. I also noticed that there is no “cfg” folder in steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota. Dota 2 fails 763 There are no dota dumps in the dumps folder.

Avast is one of the top AVs that have false positives. I would switch to Avira. Dota 2 fails 763

You still have to provide some technical informations:

Thank you for the reply. It’s a company-managed desktop. I don’t have a choice about the anti-virus.

The interesting thing is that everything was working perfectly yesterday. I am guessing that for some reason the game is unable to populate the cfg\config. cfg entries and that’s why it’s crapping out.

LOL. You were not supposed to play Dota 2 on that system, the fact that it worked before it was because of the system administrator not enforcing the rules.
Maybe they expect some results from you other than Dota 2 mmr?
This wont be fixable since you don’t have full access to the PC and at any time settings can be overridden by the sys op.

Attached my technical information:

BTW, there’s an issue in the script in copying the list_my_programs. txt from temp to Desktop. The file created on Desktop is empty. I had to grab it from temp. (Running on Windows 8.1 x64).

Also, since I write Windows drivers for a living, I have full access to the machine (except the anti-virus). . And Dota 2 is my approved way of “de-stressing” over my lunch break.

Was expected the script won’t run ok. Missing dxdiag data (you can get that manually).
But it will be very hard to diagnose your issue since it’s a work PC, with a shitload of developing tools. Come to think about it, why don’t you try launching Dota 2 by using the VS debugger?
And back at directx. What version are you running? Is it retail or debug? Try using directx cpl and switch to retail if available. Also, are you aware of Windows 8 limitation regarding developing for old directx versions in the sense that you need at least a checked os build?

Anyway, make sure you have all the necessary permissions for the Steam and SteamApps folders (change ownership to your regular account) and that both folders are added to the ignore list on that piece of crap Avast. If that won’t work, try reinstalling Steam and Dota 2 to a root folder (like D:\Steam or C:\Steam).

Since I am not doing any DirectX work, pretty sure I have the retail version. (I write file system drivers, not graphics drivers.) Steam and Dota are installed in E:\Steam.

Like I mentioned earlier, it was working perfectly fine yesterday. Just a reinstall of Steam and Dota 2 has caused something to not initialize correctly. I suspect that since I had an earlier version installed and kept updating on top of it, Dota was working until yesterday.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. I kind of guessed that going through the list of programs would be a pain.

Ha ha ha! I fixed it myself. Thanks for the suggestions about running with VS. I ran it with Procmon and saw where it failed. It was trying to get details about the graphics card and then died. I ran dota2 with the “-nod3d9ex” option. This worked!! After that, I was able to run it even without that option.

So thank you for the suggestions.

Glad you did it! After-all, you are a driver developer, you have the technical background and the tools already installed to debug stuff like this
That’s why I stressed you about directx and dxdiag. My script failed to get it’s output, coupled with the multiple directx sdk versions pointed at a problem with gpu/driver/directx detection.
I was just about to recommend you to switch to single-display mode in windows, then re-run dxsetup from E:\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\ and delete video. txt from E:\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg\
In case it happens again, deleting video. txt is how you force hardware re-detection in Dota 2.

Hi I have the same problem and do not know much about this, I wanted to know if I can take the step by step how to fix it thanks .

The – autoconfig and – safe options also dont work. The “cfg” folder is still missing.

The Frankfurt Major will feature 16 teams competing over 6 days in a double elimination tournament, using the same format as main event at The International.

There will be 8 teams directly invited and 8 teams coming from the Regional Qualifiers. A total of 40 teams will be competing in the Regional Qualifiers next week, with 8 slots reserved to the winners of the Open Qualifiers.

Later today we will announce the direct invites that will be competing in Frankfurt for their share of the $3 million dollar prize pool. Invitations will be revealed one at a time on this page once the countdown timer reaches zero.

Tickets to The Frankfurt Major Finals can be purchased here.

The Fall Season 2015 Compendium

Today we are introducing The Fall Season 2015 Compendium. In addition to Challenges and Level Rewards, we have introduced a new Coin Wagering system. Players can wager their coins on the outcome of their match. Wagering members of the victorious team will each win a percentage of the Coin Pool based on the amount of their maximum wager compared to the rest of their team.

Compendium Coins can be earned by completing challenges, achievements, random drops, leveling up your Compendium, using Coin Boosters and recycling. You can redeem coins inside the Compendium for items, sets, or a treasure. The treasure contains exclusive new items that are divided into three tiers of rarity. In the Armory, you can use lower tier items to craft a higher tier reward.

Increase your Compendium Level to earn new couriers, treasures containing sets with unlockable ambient effects, an Artifact item for Tusk, new Cache treasures, and more. Check out the Fall Season Compendium website to learn more.

This all leads up to The Frankfurt Major, where sixteen teams will battle for a fixed $3,000,000 prize pool from November 16 through the 21st. Tickets to The Frankfurt Major Finals can be purchased here.

This update also contains various other fixes, read the patch notes.

Tickets on sale for The Frankfurt Major

Tickets are now on sale for The Frankfurt Major. The main event will take place over 6 days featuring the top 16 teams in the world competing for their share of the $3,000,000 prize pool.

Tickets to The Frankfurt Major Finals cost €50, and are now available here.

Gameplay Update 6.85 and More

Gameplay Update 6.85 is here, bringing various balance changes to heroes and items ahead of the Frankfurt Major. You can read the Gameplay Update notes here.

We’ve also reorganized the home page to incorporate several new features.

Neighborhood Channels are a new feature in the chat panel, providing an easy way for you to join the Dota community in your area, find new teammates, and make new friends. Neighborhood Channels are joined automatically whenever you launch Dota. Dota 2 compendium 2015 prize pool graphic design They are currently enabled in select regions, and will be rolling out to rest of the world over the next few days.

The chat panel is also now embedded directly into the home page, and will remain open whenever you’re in a lobby. Additionally, two new panels have been added to the home page: the first showing a recap of your most recent game, while the other highlights the most-spectated match currently being played.

There are a number of other features and fixes included with today’s update. Head over to the patch notes to learn all about them.

Announcing The Frankfurt Major

Over the last five years, The International has become the pinnacle moment for the world of professional Dota. Dota 2 compendium 2015 prize pool graphic design Now the excitement of the biggest event in esports is coming to the Majors, a series of seasonal marquee tournaments, which will take place throughout the year and around the globe. Dota’s newest tradition begins this fall with the Frankfurt Major.

The first Dota Major will take place over six days at Festhalle Messe in Frankfurt, Germany from November 16 through the 21st. It will feature 16 teams all competing at the main event for a total prize pool of $3,000,000, and will be produced by ESL.

Attendance to the Frankfurt Major will be open to the public and will not require a ticket for any day except for the day of the finals, which will take place on Saturday, November 21st. Tickets to the Frankfurt Major Finals will be sold in two separate waves this Sunday, September 27, the first at 11:00am CEST and the last at 7:00pm CEST. Each ticket will cost €50, and will be available here.

The teams that will be directly invited to the Frankfurt Major and its Regional Qualifiers will be revealed on October 5th. The Open Qualifiers will be hosted by FaceIt and Perfect World and will take place October 6 – 9, with the Regional Qualifiers occurring October 10 – 13. Open Qualifier registration will open to any Dota players who wish to compete on October 1st.

In other Dota news, we are doing some work on the underlying map rendering tech for the desert map terrain in order to make sure it is built in a compatible way for future iterations. Our first longform comic, which will come with the release of the Axe Immortal, is going to be much bigger than our previous comics.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be working on UI improvements based on the feedback we’ve received and releasing our first seasonal Compendium. You can also expect to see the 6.85 game balance update later this week.

Reborn has arrived

As of yesterday, all Dota 2 players are now running the Reborn update, which includes the Source 2 engine, a rebuilt UI, and Custom Games. Over the coming weeks we’ll be updating the game frequently to fix issues and refine the experience based on your feedback. You’ll be able to find patch notes in the usual place once again.

In today’s update we’ve included a design-related change to the Dashboard. We’ve integrated the friends list in the Home screen, while still having it be available globally. We debated making this change during the earlier part of the beta, but we didn’t have enough confidence that it was correct until we got more feedback following yesterday’s release.

Honestly, switch to free avast! Anti-Virus and save yourself (and your PC) a headache. It’s decent protection (you’re even further protected from viruses on the Internet if you’re not a complete dumbass who downloads “free smileys”), and it has the lightest footprint on your system resources. PC focuses more energy on games than your stupid anti-virus bloatware background services. I haven’t had a single virus since then.

There’s Avast while it’s running a scan in the background. The only “ads” it has is for you to upgrade to the pro version, which I’d recommend, for the price, but you can disable those.

Norton has always been pretty terrible, the only reason people even have it half the time is because it comes pre-installed on their system. It misses a lot of malware, and really doesn’t perform that well either. How much you paid for it is irellevant.
