The game’s structure encourages communication and teamwork between players.

The game features a large cast of eclectic characters to play, each with its own unique play style and lore. But in terms of gameplay, there’s no sort of character development, and concepts like “good” and “evil” don’t come into play when teaming up for matches.

While the gameplay is essentially point and click, there are a lot of intricacies involved in both character development and tactical gameplay. The game doesn’t just rely on forethought and planning, but also adjusting strategies on the fly to take advantage of a teammate’s developed strength or an enemy’s sudden weakness.

There’s a fair amount of violence in each match, with players and other characters fighting against each other using fantasy weapons and magical spells. Killed players simply respawn after a short time at their team’s base, while other defeated creatures simply fade from the battlefield with minimal bloodshed.

Some characters, particularly female ones, are shown in skimpy or non-existent clothing, though the game’s scale keeps most details from being noticeable outside of character portraits.

There’s no profanity in the game’s dialogue, but the online team-based nature of the game requires regular communication with other real-world players. This could expose younger players to profanity and offensive comments during online chats.

The game is free-to-play, and unlike other games in the genre, all heroes are available to play from the onset. Players can purchase cosmetic skins for the characters they like by the in-game shop.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Dota 2 (or Defense of the Ancients 2) is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, available for download on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux-based computers. Players compete against each other in 5v5 fantasy combat to destroy the opposing side’s base while defending their own from attack. Violence is a steady occurrence, with characters fighting each other with a mix of fantasy weapons and magical abilities. While there’s lots of combat, there’s little graphic violence or blood. The game’s free-to-play, with its full roster of more than one hundred characters available to play from the onset, though players can spend money in-game to gain access to unique cosmetic skins and other add-ons. Parents should also be aware that, due to the game’s online and competitive nature, younger players could be exposed to offensive comments and profanity via in-game chat with other players.

The fantasy battle for dominance continues in DOTA 2, the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena where two teams of five face off against each other and the environment for control of the landscape. With more than one hundred different characters to choose from, each with its own unique set of abilities and specific role to play, you must work together with your patchwork team of other heroes and develop key strategies in real-time. Your objective? To push forward and take control of your opponents’ “Ancient,” a base of operation and the source of immense magical power. Of course, your opponents have the same idea. There are all kinds of competitive online games on the market, but one of the biggest genres is the multiplayer online battle arena, or MOBA, style. The first Dota (which stands for “Defense of the Ancients”) originally began as a mod for Blizzard’s WarCraft III and was one of major pioneers for the genre, but Dota 2 ditched the mod route in favor of a standalone game built from the ground up, improving on everything that came before. The result wound up being a highly polished, intricate strategy game that didn’t just cement the foundation of the MOBA genre, but also managed to stand the test of time and continue to thrive even years after its release. While Dota 2 might have helped lay to groundwork for MOBA games, there’s a lot in the game that makes it stand out from the crowd. It’s got a massive roster of characters to choose from, over one hundred in total, and yet each one still manages to feel distinct from the others in ability, function, and presentation. Best of all, there’s no restriction on who to play. Right from the start, all the heroes are unlocked, opening up a veritable buffet of options to play with.

The only real issue with the game is that it’s difficult to jump into as a newcomer, due to the established community. While it’s not nearly as toxic as some online games, there still seems to be an assumption that players have a certain level of experience already. And in the heat of a match, some players will occasionally lose their cool. Still, players can bypass this by grabbing some friends and learning the intricacies of the game playing against A. I. controlled bots and by trying out heroes in a testbed “demo” mode. It takes some time and practice to really understand the ins and outs of Dota 2, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the MOBA genre, but it’s well worth the investment. Working with a good team and finding the right mix of players makes for a great online experience and an exhilarating rush that’s hard to resist. And considering just how much players get without ever needing to spend a dime, Dota 2 makes for a near perfect way to get your feet wet before diving into the great big ocean of MOBA games out there.

Filipinos and Dota 2 in the Year 2014

Filipinos and the local professional gaming scene that it built up around the game of Dota 2 is a love story. It (Dota 2) is a direct descendant of one of the world’s most famous custom maps to ever grace the Warcraft 3 engine. Known as Defense of the Ancients, the game is one in a list of the most popular and fast-growing genre of video games called Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas (MOBA).

Here in the Philippines, fans cheered and wept as Mineski — one of the most recognized Filipino professional gaming teams — took on the best that the world could offer in the first-ever International, the most prestigious tournament in all of Dota 2, back in 2011. No one ever thought that Mineski could survive the first round…until they defeated one of the world’s finest teams in the era: OK. Another Philippine team, Execration, at the time was unable to deliver on its promise despite having a stellar pre-qualifier record, while Mineski stepped up and even went as far as the playoffs; however, Thailand’s MiTh-Trust bricked Mineski, dropping the last Philippine hope from reaching the stage in Seattle.

Just as everyone once again counted “Pinoy Dota” out of the equation, the reformed Execration started to inch their way up quietly in the wake of this year’s The International. It was a very ugly journey and at the time, teams such as the former MSI-EvoGT and Arcanys Gaming were also getting traction on the way to being recognized as the best team in the Philippines (both of them would later get 2 nd and 3 rd in the Asian E-Sports Federation Dota 2 Championship, respectively).

After fifty official matches later in all of the tournaments that they have participated, Execration they finally received the fruits of their labor: They become the first Filipino team to fight in the StarLadder LAN Finals, as well as the first team to represent South East Asia in the sa >

Another upstart Philippine team, Rave, has been slowly taking tournaments by storm. Playing out of South Korea, the team composed of Filipino players have been playing in a different scene than the rest of SEA. Representing the the Philippine flag in tournaments, they have gotten themselves a neat 3 rd /4 th place in I-League Season 1 which was held in China. 2014 iesf asian dota 2 championship news Last weekend, they also competed as the winner of the Asia-Pacific Qualifier in the MSI Beat It! LAN tournament held in Taiwan.

With their consistent performance, they are looking forward to join Execration as the flagship teams of Philippine Dota this year.

Despite the fact that they were burdened with a match-fixing scandal, Mineski has seemed to get back into the game quite quickly with a respectable second-place finish at the Thailand Big Game Dota 2 Championship as well as another second place during the ESL Philippine Grand Finals just a couple of days ago. Recently, roster changes and shake-ups were announced as the most prominent gaming club in the country announced that they are signing on Malaysian professional Siong Tait “Johnny” Lee of Arrow Gaming and Johnny’s Revenge fame into their squad.

Cebu-based Arcanys, as mentioned above, has bagged the top spot in ESL as well as the third place in the Asian IESF, proving that excellence in eSports doesn’t need to come from a single place or region.

With all the successes and breaks that Pinoy Dota has gotten since post-TI4, one thing is clear: Our brand of Dota is back in the eyes of the scene. I’m not here to spoil everyone’s fun, but several questions remain: Will we be able to step up? Will we be able to stay consistent? And most importantly, will we be able to have a chance at the Aegis of Champions once again?

Only time will tell.

And I hope that it’s not just a dream.

IeSF Asian Championship 2014

It was the 3rd edition of the Annual eSports Festival in Cebu held at the SM Trade Hall. I myself am a gamer and a big fan of eSports having a never ending passion watching and supporting the games. I eventually ended up becoming a part of the Mineski Events Team since 2011 but since I graduated and started working I wasn’t that active anymore and as a consequence couldn’t quite catch up with the eSports scene.

I only attended the 3rd and last day to watch the Championship games but I came without much expectations since I thought that the eSports scene was on a decline. But as soon as I entered the trade hall I was stunned by how many spectators the event drew and contrary to what I thought the eSports scene was actually getting bigger! As usual there was the cosplay event, the rig competition and the beautiful creatures called “booth babes”.

As for the games included there was Hearthstone, Street Fighter 4, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Star Craft 2 and the much awaited Dota 2. Dota 2 was the main event once again with participants from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mongolia, South Korea, Manila and our Local team Arcanys. Arcanys dominated Group B having a flawless 3-0 record while MVP from South Korea took 2nd place. In the other group The Prime (Indonesia) and MSI-EvoGT (Manila) upset one of the favorites coming into this tournament Mith. Trust (Thailand) and Orange Esports (Malaysia) both ending up with a score of 2-1.

In the elimination round MSI-EvoGT won two close fought battles with both games reaching 60+mins beating our local heroes from Arcanys 2-0 and therefore were headed for the finals. On the other hand MVP didn’t have it easy either finishing off The Prime 2-1 making it South Korea vs Philippines for the finals.

The crowd was kinda down after our local heroes have fallen, but still everybody went on to watch the finals and cheer on our countrymen from Manila. 2014 iesf asian dota 2 championship news MVP went on to win the first game but MSI bounced back making the crowd go wild. However during the final game the Koreans displayed their skill and composure beating our friends from Manila and winning the ieSF Asian Championship.

It was another great event and props to Brian Lim, Tryke, Gamevolution, Cheap Rigs, the sponsors and especially the crowd and players for making this such a great experience. Esports is much more than just playing video games, it’s about getting to know people all around the world sharing one passion and one love. Through Esports I made a lot of precious friends all over the world and I pray and hope that one day society and the government will finally change their way of thinking that video games only lead to violence and students cutting classes. Thanks for everybody making the event possible and I hope to see you guys around next year again!

All the highlights from Day One in Los Angeles.

Our first Minor of the 2019-2020 DPC season is finally upon us. Dota Summit 11 officially kicked off today with a full day of Bo3’s. Two of our eight teams have been eliminated as the battle for that final spot at the Major heats up. Let’s take a look at some of the day’s highlights.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs jfshfh178 – Game 1

When it comes to the day’s early series the thrashing jfshfh178 delivered to NiP in their opening match certainly provides an interesting upset.

The new CIS kids on the block put on a dominant showing right from the game’s opening minutes. They snatched the net worth lead straight away in the laning phase, then snowballed toward a 34-minute victory.

Palantimos was a beast on his Chaos Knight. The Belarusian and former Vega Squadron player put on a powrful showing for his team, ending the game at 12/1/8.

NiP didn’t even get a look in, bowing out with the final score 10–28. An 18-kill lead for jfshfh178 and a fantastic start to their first games of the DPC season.

Ad Finem vs Geek Fam – Game 2

Another highlight, game two in our series between Ad Finem and Geek Fam gave us a close fight had plenty of back and forth action to keep us entertained over the games 43-minutes. With both teams putting up a hard fight to avoid falling into the day’s elimination bracket.

As the game reached the mid phase, it looked like Ad Finem were going to equalise the series. They took control of the net worth just past the 20-minute mark, allowing them to pull into the lead. But Geek Fam kept up a tight defense and turned things around. In the end, there were only 8-kills separating the two teams with a final kill-count of 25–33 to take the series.

Ad Finem vs HellRaisers – Game 3

Our final series of the day was also the only series to go to the full three games, and the third one is well worth the watch. It was a back and forth fight to the finish, with both teams stepping into the lead at some point in the game.

In the end it was HellRaisers who came out on top. Just past the games 30-minute mark, they turned a high ground defense into some much needed kills on Ad Finem’s cores. The result was a game winning advantage. Ad Finem’s MDL dreams were officially over.

It’s worth mentioning the oustanding performance delivered by Nix this series. Watching him at work on his Queen of Pain during the game’s final minutes was an asbolute treat. He ended the match with a KDR of 17/2/3. With a decent chunk of those kills coming in as HellRaisers rolled to their victory.

With our first day of competition all wrapped up, we say goodbye to paiN Gaming and Ad Finem. Our remaining six teams advance forward to the next round, as the fight for a chance to compete later this month at Chengdu continues.

DOTA 2 Pride Challenge 2013 – Philippines vs Indonesia

DATE: 5th May 2013, Online | Dota 2 is fast becoming one of the top, if not the top e-sport game to ever grace the scene. However, with the coming of leagues, tournaments and events, gamers are quickly looking for something new to whet their competitive appetites. The Dota 2 Pride Challenge will give them all that and more! Dota 2 Pride Challenge is an opportunity to see which country has the best Dota 2 community and teams. It is a platform to settle rivalries and answer the question of which country is the best. Teams will be putting their skills, honour and pride to see which country will come out on top!

Results:

Match 1: Mineski. Razer vs. ULTImate

Mineski started the game with a four hero gank on Puck, securing the first blood. They maintained the lead after a brilliant juke by Rubick, to foil the Indonesian’s gank attempt. The Filipino team continued their good start with rotations to the bottom lane – including their solo middle and top heroes. With that, the team had secured a 5-0 kill lead, as well as a 3K Experience and 2K Gold advantage ten minutes into the game.

Just as the Indonesians were starting to get a few kills, Mineski won a big engagement on the bottom lane. They also proceeded to take the tier-one tower at the bottom. By the 17th minute, Anti-Mage was able to complete his Battle Fury and Lifestealer was able to finish his Armlet. Despite being down, ULTImate showed their teamfight potential by winning a team fight on the middle lane at the 18-minute mark, trading one hero to four.

Mineski’s range, or lack thereof, is hurting them. They can’t find the initiation that they want and they keep on losing team fights even though they are leading. The big Wall + Vacuum + Dream Coil kills at least a couple of heroes instantly. ULTImate appeared to be starting to get back into the game and was apparently winning another team fight when Juggernaut manned up with a Double Damage rune and won the engagement for his team. Mineski later claimed Roshan, and established a 10k Gold and 12k Experience lead by minute 30.

Mineski finally won a team fight one minute later, as they were able to kill Dark Seer before the latter can use his skills. From thereon, the Filipino team handled the team fights easily. They won another skirmish on the 33rd minute, taking down four heroes, and proceeded to finish the game with three straight set of barracks.

Match 2: Mineski. Razer vs. TLeR. Reborn

This match-up was the battle of the carries. TLeR is trying to bring Morphling back to his glory days, while Mineski is attempting to put Drow Ranger into the mainstream. It was the former getting the leverage though, as he was able to get the first blood on the overextending Magnus on the bottom lane.

The game transitioned into an exciting phase, with both teams trading kills. While Morphling already had six kills under his name in 13 minutes, Drow Ranger was compensating for his free farm and his stay at his lane. Mineski, though two kills down, was ahead in both experience and gold. Drow Ranger’s first fight presence was felt three minutes later, when the Filipino team wiped the Indonesians while only giving up two heroes.

The TI3 East Qualifier-invited team continued their dominance, with their Templar Assassin and Drow dealing massive right clicks. They were able to score a perfect team wipe at minute 22, which lead them to two sets of barracks. They had a final decisive push a few minutes later on the top lane, and the GG was soon called.

Match 3: Mineski. Razer vs. Joenet PNM

It was looking to be another battle of the carries, this time it is Phantom Lancer vs Alchemist. Knowing Alchemist’s capability when given free farm, Joenet adjusted by putting forth an offensive trilane and having Phantom Lancer play an easy lane solo.

It didn’t went well for them though, as the Filipino team easily racked up kills and stuffed the Indonesian’s kill attempts. To make matters worse, Phantom Lancer died solo against Clockwerk. With that, the Indonesian decided to adjust once again – sending their two supports back on top. It payed of quickly, having them get a kill and a tier-one tower.

Mineski was able to get a clean team wipe at minute 11, including a sick Psy-blade double kill by Templar Assassin. The Filipino continued their strong play as they moved into the top lane. By the 15th minute, they had already secured a commanding 9 kills, and 9K Gold and Experience advantage.

Mineski continued to press on the lead. They had increased their lead to more than 15K, and Phantom Lancer had just finished his Diffusal Blade then. Joenet PNM lost their mid barracks as the Philippine team just barreled right through.

The GG was called at the 25th minute, when Mineski pushed top and just used their overwhelming advantage to dive deep into Joenet’s base.

Playstyle
Crystal Maiden is an efficient support who specializes in slowing enemies. Her highly valued Arcane Aura increases mana regeneration for all her teammates, while she remains effective throughout the game with very little items. In large fights, she can channel a Freezing Field to obliterate enemies over a w >Frostbite to target individuals. However, Crystal Maiden is quite fragile even compared to other supports, and is one of the slowest heroes in the game.

• Crystal Ma >Invoker for the second-lowest base movement speed in the game. Due to her strong disable potential, she can most effectively mitigate this and by building mobility items that give her a measure of escape, since it doubles to give her initiation potential.
• Because her abilities are strongest in the laning stage of a match, Crystal Ma >Abilities [ edit ]

Crystal Nova [ edit ]

• Crystal Nova is a large area of effect nuke that also slows enemies’ movement and attack speed.
• Use Crystal Nova to harass enemies out of lane. The movement and attack speed slows should prevent the enemies from fighting back with attacks.
• Crystal Nova’s long cast range and w >Frostbite [ edit ]

• Frostbite roots the target enemy while also disarming them and dealing damage over time.
• Frostbite can be a strong disable due to its ability to instantly immobilize an enemy. While it does not prevent enemies from casting spells, it can inhibit teleport abilities, as well as Charge of Darkness and Phase Shift . Depending on the enemy lineup, maxing out Frostbite first can give Crystal Ma >Arcane Aura [ edit ]

• Arcane Aura prov >Arcane Boots on all teammates globally whenever it is off cooldown, which allows all allied heroes, especially those with small mana pools, to cast spells much more frequently.
• It is wise to get at least one level of Arcane Aura in the early game. As Crystal Ma >Freezing Field [ edit ]

• Freezing Field is a channeled spell that summons a blizzard around Crystal Ma >Ravage or Black Hole , Freezing Field should be used in tandem with their mass disable. Using Freezing Field very often results in Crystal Ma >Items [ edit ]

• Tango prov >Healing Salve also restores health to Crystal Ma >Clarity is a useful purchase due to Crystal Ma >Animal Courier ferries items to allies.
• Observer Ward s should be purchased regularly and placed at key areas around the map. As a support, giving your team map vision is critical to victory.

• Magic Wand is very useful on Crystal Ma >Boots of Speed are a crucial early purchase on Crystal Ma >Wind Lace also gives movement speed boost for cheap, and builds into various items.
• Town Portal Scroll should be carried on Crystal Maiden as her disables can turn ganks around.

• Tranquil Boots are the cheapest upgradable boots available, and allow Crystal Ma >Glimmer Cape can be a useful item to purchase if you intend on making use of Freezing Field regularly, and is otherwise a good support item. Casting the active on yourself prior to jumping in with your ultimate can give you a little extra time to channel it, allowing you to deal more damage. In other situations, it can give you or an ally the ability to stealthily initiate on targets you have vision on, or can be used as an escape or survivability tool by granting someone on your team invisibility and greatly increased magic resistance.

• Blink Dagger augments Crystal Maiden’s mobility, allowing her to instantly jump within range for locking down enemy heroes with her disables. The improved mobility also allows her to move around the map more easily to support her teammates, or escape pursuing enemies.

• Eul’s Scepter of Divinity grants Crystal Ma >Force Staff is a good cheap support item to build on Crystal Ma >Black King Bar is an expensive luxury item that should be considered only if given farm priority and all other support duties have been met. It prevents interruptions to her ultimate, as well as increasing the size of Crystal Maiden’s health pool.

• Ghost Scepter gives survivability against attacking carries by granting Crystal Ma >Urn of Shadows is a good utility item for a roaming Crystal Ma >Drum of Endurance gives Crystal Ma >Veil of Discord is a cheap utility item that gives Crystal Ma >Aether Lens is a strong caster item that greatly improves Crystal Ma >Meteor Hammer can be used as an extra means of disabling enemies when combined with Frostbite. It prov >Aghanim’s Scepter can give Crystal Ma >Scythe of Vyse is a very expensive support item, however it gives a very reliable ranged hard-disable, a larger mana pool and some more HP, and a powerful mana regeneration boost.
• Shiva’s Guard gives Crystal Maiden a strong area slow which synergizes with Crystal Nova and Freezing Field. The armor bonus also makes her much more resistant to physical damage, making it harder to focus her down.

Hi guys, i just wanna do some quick research, which Hero do u guys think that have a higher chance of getting rampage in a normal game? tell me 1 for each attribute.
heres My list,
STR= Timber
INT = Warlock
AGI = AM

btw, my rampage lists still 0 in 3k hours game :[ (actually i have 2 rampage as warlock but valve didnt count the match )

Strength = Probably Sven. Just give him a Crystalis/Daedalus, have all the enemy heroes in one spot and he’ll take care of it. Got a Sven who rampaged in my last game.

Agility = Any farmed carry can easily Rampage. Special mentions would be AM, Medusa and Spectre, since they’re the “hardest” carries in the game.

Intelligence = A lot of Intel heroes can easily rampage if they execute their ult perfectly, though the best hero would probably be OD if the enemy team is filled with STR and AGI heroes.

I saw people getting rampages with Slark (damn that game, SK and SD fed Slark 15-0 in 10 minutes), Sven, Luna. (NP tping to ks silencer from my WK who was reincanating, Sniper Assassinating the LS before my Mirana could get close for the last 2 hits and so on. you get the point)
