Never Give Up, Never Surrender: Patch 6.82 Initial Reactions

RIP Dota

Previously, Kawaiisocks covered in detail some of the biggest hero changes in this patch. We purposely omitted talking about one of the biggest upheavals of Dota in its history: the changes to bounty experience and gold. In short, to summarize the arithmetic, you gain more gold and experience when you are behind. This makes it easier to come back from a deficit than before, and in early 6.82, often times one team fight could excessively rebound your disadvantage to an advantage.

An early 6.82 game of mine with Spectre. An abandon gave the enemy team a significant XP and Gold advantage, but the kill XP/Gold mid game put me in the threshold for some crucial items. One kill rocketed my gold from 3k to 5.5k. Just within reach for that Radiance.

Since then, 6.82 has undergone further refinements, scaling back the rewards for netting a kill from behind. It will take some time before we can make any conclusions about the patch, but it’s no question that the spirit of these changes have altered Dota more than any other patch in recent memory. Let’s take a look at one of the largest benefactors of 6.82. Take a guess whose these next graphs these belong to.

The Next Faceless Void

Spectre’s win rate and popularity graph

Spectre received a minor buff to Spectral Dagger’s movement speed, but it doesn’t account for one of the largest increases in win rates we’ve seen for any patch. Her win rate has increased from 51 to 62%–at one point being the winningest hero in the game (that position is currently held by Omniknight. More on that later).

Patch 6.82 rewards killing when you’re at a deficit. And whether you’re ahead or behind, Spectre is one of the best heroes to clean up a team fight. Her ultimate, Haunt, allows her to engage in any team fight. Her builds are flexible–you can favor an urn/drums/phase boots build or go greedy for that quick Radiance. But what has changed is that now you have the time and money to get what you need.

With 6.82, there’s this omnipresent feeling that if you’re in the lead, you’re on thin ice. One spoiled team fight can turn a game, and Spectre can take advantage of any opportunity that comes up.

Phantom Assassin’s win rate

Phantom Assassin got a rework to Blur, but she is not only the beneficiary of the changes to the late game, but also the nerfs to Doom and Duel, which no longer disable passives. Her win rate has risen from 47 to 52%. Will she be the next Faceless Void?

The New King of Pubs

We’ll have to wait for the dust to settle before we stitch together a Pub Tier List for 6.82, but for now I’m sure Sir Action Slacks will be happy to see that Omniknight currently sits as the hero with the highest win rate at nearly 64%.

Again, like Spectre, Omniknight’s buffs were minor, like a nudge from Icefrog saying, “remember me? I’m a good hero.” Of course, we all know Omniknight is a good hero. In 6.81, he was 3rd in win rate at 56%. But perhaps due to laning dynamics he was rarely seen in competitive play.

If we think about how 6.82 rewards greedy picks and late game heroes, Omniknight is one of the premiere late game supports. His ultimate scales into the late game, barring enemy Diffusal Blades, and his kit is always useful. With BKB limited to 5 seconds and unable to be refreshed, Repel becomes one of the strongest spells in the game.

Most importantly, Omniknight keeps your team alive. He keeps your carry alive for that delicious bounty gold and experience. Pubs have always underestimated Omniknight’s skills. They’re bemused when they cant cast spells on a repelled hero. They try to right click under Guardian Angel. And now in 6.82 those errors will become even more disastrous.

The Losers

Post TI4, Tinker got the Morphling treatment after TI3. edit: Morphling nerf was after TI2

He received nerfs to Ethereal Blade, Dagon, and to cap it off, he can no longer farm ancients. Many pros agreed that he deserved some changes, but he’s now in a pitiful state, sitting at a win rate of 40.16%, right between Enchantress and Earth Spirit at the bottom.

Next is another pub favorite: Nature’s Prophet.

His win rate dropped by 5% from 46 to 41%. Nature’s Call received a nerf to magic resistance, but what really happened was that towers got stronger. Less gold for towers, a new fortification after every Tier 1 tower, and stronger Tier 2 towers reduced his potency in the early and mid game.

We also see similar drops in win rate across other pushing oriented heroes, such as Pugna (48->45%), Enchantress (42-40%), and Chen (42-40%).

Doom’s plummeting win rate

Doom no longer disables passives, and an increase to its cast point makes it harder to hit blinking heroes. KawaiiSocks has talked about how this change to Doom (and Duel) is underestimated. It’s an indirect buff to heroes like Anti-Mage, Spectre, Phantom Assassin, Faceless Void. dear god. maybe one day we’ll wish we had the old Doom back to slap these heroes around.

Balanced Heroes

We didn’t get any new heroes this patch (though Techies may be enough for awhile), but several heroes got complete reworks: Riki, Bloodseeker, and Phantom Lancer.

We’ll wait a little to give a more extensive review on their ability builds. However, there is one new, notable mechanic.

There are many combos that can instagib heroes, but few can pop every hero on the map. It seems like an auto win for Zeus+Bloodseeker, but currently Bloodseeker has seen the largest drop in win rate of all the new hero reworks, dropping from 52 to 47%.

New Meta

Whether we like these changes or not, we’re still going to play the damn game. In some ways it’s more fun to feel like you can win a game that seems lost in the first 10 minutes. Some may criticize the patch as making Dota more casual, more like another game, but Dota did have its moments where a game was lost early, and the rest of the game felt like a slow, excruciating end.

At TI4 we had shorter games than any other tournament. The final game ended before any towers were taken. As a spectator and a player, the best games are the ones that go back and forth, filled with tension throughout. This patch seems to be enabling that spirit. We’ve yet to see whether these changes will result in safer, farm fests, or whether the rubberband mechanics will result in dynamic, rousing games. Either way, it will be something new, and something to look forward to.

Samo Dota jer imam lijepih uspomena na Warcraft 3.

Rusi tu i tamo, neki znaju i igrati ali Turci su

Skupio sam skoro 200 pobjeda, onda sam se nasekirao pa podijelio sve iteme. Nisam igrao jedno četiri mjeseca da bi opet rekreacijski krenuo. Igram par mečeva u danu i to je to. Čekam da dignem level 13 na novom profilu pa da mogu igrati ranked mečeve kako treba. Hon mu dota 2 mi Najjače je kada svi uzmu carrya, ljudi ne znaju suportati, postaviti wardove, frustracija. Hon mu dota 2 mi Nekad mi dođe da se potpuno okanim Dote.

Gledam sam i International 2014, šteta za Mousesports, izgubili su dobijeni meč. Uživam gledajući E – Samu iz C9, a dobar e i Sing Sing, stream mu jako često gledam na twitchu.

Sve u svemu, ako imate viška 1 – 2 sata u danu, dota je odličan izbor ako imate četiri prijatelja u timu. Random = frustracije, suicidne misle, problemi sa spavanjem

ja sam na oko 1700 pobjeda

igram samo na us east, ping je 140-160, podnosljivo, ali PUNO manje frustracija nego sa ovim istocnjackim cobanima na eu serverima

Igrao je sa CW, pa Gayom, te sada sa Ogrom. Dominacija je neminovnost. Danas nisam odigrao niti jednu partiju, draže mi je pogledati neki dobar meč nego biti ljut radi tima koji neće da kupi couriera

Legion feeder najveći, kažeš mu kako jest, on ti zadaje shut up, koji idiot.

Dosta dote neko vrijeme, ne mogu podnijeti da se minimalno nađe jedan žestoki noob u timu koji throw game. Ja ne igram ništa posebno, no znam koji itemi idu na heroje, kako igrati maksimalno support, a ne ovako, frajer nije kupio warda. Hon mu dota 2 mi

Čitao sam malo i uvoda, nisam odmah tu bio aktivan na ovoj temi.

Kakvo finale, Brewmaster i Weaver su uništili VG. Iako je VG prilično lahko uzeo prvi meč, doživjeli su katastrofu u sljedeća tri.

Lycan, Ember, Weaver, Earthshaker, Natural Prophet, Anti Mage, Bat, Shaman, Veno su heroji koji uzimaju pro gamers.

Nobove ćete najlakše prepoznati tako što uzimaju Riki-a, Bounty-a, Drow-a (nekad se i on uzima u pro games), Wraith-a (iako ih mislim Alliance fura), Phantom-a. Hon mu dota 2 mi

Globalno je Lancer najjači hero, niko ga u pro games ne uzima jer se odmah svi rush na njega, tako da mu ne daju free farm.

Najjači duel na internationalu je bio poraz Mouz-a iako su dominirali cijelim mečem, Anti mage je imao 10k golda i farma u jungle Taktički poraz.

Također najveći comeback 2014. godine. Taman sam ugasio stram jer sam mislio da je over, kad 20 minuta kasnije na youtubeu izašao klip preokreta kojeg sam pregledao.

Skil jeste važan, ali važnije od toga je taktika. Hon mu dota 2 mi

SingSing igra u nekom novom timu na turneji po Kini, još se ne zna u kojem će timu nastaviti dota karijeru. Možda će osnovati i neki svoj tim.

Shards [ edit ]

Shards can be earned by leveling up heroes under the Plus service, completing seasonal quests, winning a Weekend Battle Cup, predicting win streaks, or winning three matches per week. They are used to purchase Relics, Tools, Chat Wheel sounds, Event items and cosmetic items, some of which are exclusive to the Plus Store.

Hotkeys

The hotkeys settings can be accessed by clicking on the little gear icon in the most top left corner in the main menu. Here, the player can customize many hotkeys, or select one of the many pre-set hotkey templates. Almost every key on the keyboard can be bound to something, with a very few exceptions. The exceptions usually have a set purpose in the game and thus are un-rebindable.

Unbindable keys [ edit ]

Several hotkeys have a set purpose, which cannot be changed. This results in them mostly being un-rebindable.

  • The following keys are completely unbindable: ESC, SHIFT (left and right), CTRL (left and right), MOUSE 1, MOUSE 2
  • The ALT key can only bound together with other keys, as a combo key. The ALTGR key is treated as the same key.
    • Although the ALT modifier can be bound to another key, ALT is still unbindable. When the modifier gets rebound, ALT has no use.
  • The WINDOWS KEY (left and right) (or COMMAND KEY on Apple keyboards) are unbindable, but they can be turned bindable in the advanced hotkey settings. These keys keep their default function, which is opening the start menu on the desktop. This is true even when the keys get bound ingame.
  • The PRINT KEY is fully bindable, but it also keeps its default function, which is to take screenshots.
  • The following keys are bindable on their own, but cannot be combined with ALT: PRINT KEY, TAB
  • All other standard keys are bindable.

Basic hotkeys [ edit ]

Basic hotkeys are active while playing a match. The player can change the hotkeys at any time, even during a match. There are hotkeys for abilities, items, unit actions, shop actions, chat, interface and control groups. In the advanced hotkeys, there are additional settings for unit actions, shop actions, interface and control groups, and the hotkeys for camera actions, saved camera positions and some hotkey setting options.

Hotkey templates [ edit ]

By default, the game uses the “Arrow (Default)” hotkey layout. The player can choose from a variety of pre-set hotkey templates, which can be found by clicking on “Reset hotkeys. ” at the bottom left of the settings menu. Available templates are:

1 Legacy keys can also be enabled by ticking the corresponding option in the Advanced Hotkeys settings, rather than starting over with this template.

Activating a template unbinds all hotkeys used in it from their existing actions. Hotkeys can still be changed freely after selecting a template, except Legacy Keys’ item hotkeys.

Abilities [ edit ]

There are 6 ability slots which can be used. If one slot is empty and contains no ability, it is not visible in-game, and all abilities coming after it are moved together. For example, if a unit has an ability in slot 1 and 3, but no ability in slot 2, then the 2nd slot is not visible and the 3rd ability is moved next to the 1st ability, so that there is no gap. However, the slots are still bound according to the settings. Despite the 3rd slot being moved to remove the gap, its hotkey is still equal to whatever is set for the 3rd slot in the ability hotkey settings.

Heroes usually have 3 abilities in their first 3 slots, and their ultimate always in the 6 slot. This causes the ultimate spell to always use whatever hotkey is set for the 6th slot, despite the ultimate visually appearing in the 4th slot. This is why the hotkey of the 4th ability on non-hero units is not equal to the hotkey of ultimate abilities. The non-hero unit has 4 abilities in its 4 slots and has the 5th and 6th slot empty, so they are not displayed. If its 4th ability would be moved to the 6th slot, it would make visually no difference, but change its hotkey to what is set in the 6th slot.

By default, the ability hotkeys apply to every unit the player controls. It is possible though, to bind different hotkeys to heroes, couriers and other units by turning “Unit Specific Hotkeys” on. It is also possible to bind unique hotkeys for each hero, however, this is not possible for other units. Clicking on “Clear” after having given non-hero units, couriers or an individual hero unique settings, sets the hotkeys back to what the player set as default.

The player can choose between regular cast (select spell and then select target) and quickcast (select spell and automatically cast it where the cursor is). Autocast is by default ALT+ability hotkey. It is possible to choose between regular and quickcast for couriers, non-heroes and for each hero, just like how unique bindings are possible. If the player wishes to use regular and quickcast, or wants to use different autocast hotkeys, the “Enable Advanced Quickcast/Autocast Hotkeys” setting can be turned on, which allows setting different hotkeys for regular, quick – and autocast for each slot. This also works together with unit specific hotkeys. However, advanced quickcast/autocast hotkeys is not compatible with legacy hotkeys. Here, the player can only decide between regular and quickcast, and autocast is always ALT+hotkey.

  • Наносит 22.5/45/67.5/90 ( 52.5/75/97.5/120) урона с интервалом в 0.3 секунды спустя 0,5 секунды после применения, срабатывая 6 раза.
  • Если юнит находится под действием Toss , он получает усиленный в раза урон от Avalanche, равный ( ) единицам урона за срабатывание.
  • Расстояние до цели не важно, выбранная область всегда поражается спустя 0,5 секунды после применения.
  • С каждым срабатыванием Avalanche сначала наносит урон, затем применяет дебафф.
  • Брошенный юнит летит со скоростью, зависящей от расстояния между ним и целью, которая может достигать до 2308.
    • Если расстояние меняется, то скорость адаптируется не мгновенно, а постепенно – ускоряясь или замедляясь соответственно.

    • То есть область поражения может достигать до 600 единиц от Tiny.

  • Наносит урон по области при атаке вардов или строений, но не союзных юнитов. На варды и строения не действует урон по области.

When TO USE this build, when NOT.

Invoker is a very nice pick. IF USED WELL
If used well he can literally start and unending avalanche of snowballing.
But. is it always good to pick invoker? Nope.

Then, When should i pick him and when not?

YES:

    Enemy dosent have that many silences.
    Many squishy carries.
    You remeber and know when and how to use ALL his 10 spells.

NOPE:

    How was it. quas wex and?

    i mean like, quas wex is best huh! exort is useless! Dendi dosent use exort!

A good invoker must ALWAYS know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

Laning phase.

Why to start with quas if you are gonna level early exort instead?

simple, because coldsnap its so fuc*ing OP.

you dont have that much harrass, and you are gonna soak all the damage the enemy mid is gonna give you.
that would happen if you started with exort.

You dont harrass with spells, like, Templar Assassin with her passive, or Skywrath mage with his painfull birdies, you harrass with you basic attack.
Why? Quas gives you ALOT of early HP regen, you can trade with your enemy, then wait 30 seconds farming your lane, and boom, you’re full hp.

Also, coldsnap gives you a VERY BIG ganking weapon, and a good first blood possibility aganist your enemy.

You go, to right click your enemy, he will do the same.

When you right click an enemy hero, the creeps will start attacking you, NOW you must use coldsnap.

Your creeps will keep triggering coldsnap, blicking the enemy right click, and drammatically increase the damage he recives, in less that 2 hits he will instinctively back, follow him with some more autoattacks.

He will have yo use the healing salve, or 2-3 tangoes, while you’ll just have to wait your quas to heal you up (or just use 1 tango if the trade was hard).

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO BUILD INVOKER. THIS ONE IS THE WAY I USE MOSTLY, BUT ITS NOT THE ONLY ONE.

Exort, is just, BROKEN, in early game, it gives you ALOT of basic attack damage, that combined with coldsnap, becomes a kill.

You can literally walk in a lane, coldsnap someguy, and autoattack him untill he is dead.

But wait, at level 7, you’ll have 2 spells to use, but wich? what is the best ganking spells?

in early game, i recommend to use:

here some explanations.

As a DOT, (Damage Over Time) the meteor, will keep triggering coldsnap on your target, basically killing him without eny other help, the only problem is that the meteor is easly dodgeable.
If you time your spells correctly, you’ll be able to insta kill an agility carry.
Meteor, then rapidly cast coldsnap, even if you fail, and the meteor dosent fully smash your target, only the impact will be enough to scare your enemy forcing him to back.

Blast is a disable, even tho you dont have that much Quas, it is enough to trigger coldsnap once again, AND boost your enemy, for 2-3 basic attacks.

BUT WHY DENDI DOSENT USE EXORT AND ALL PROS I SEE DOSENT USE IT. ((((((((

Hey hey they know what they do, basically they dont need a bruiser, a very. VERY. big bruiser.

(Bruiser characters are those characters that deals TON of damage early game, and less in late game)

The invoker is kind of a strange bruiser.
I call him, the Hard Carry Mage.

If he starts snowwballing, pray god he disconnects, otherwise there is no other way to win the match.

Combos

The invoker has a very big arsenal of combos to use at his advantage.

the most common and used spell is the:

TORNADO METEOR BLAST combo:

its simple.
Keep equipped meteor and tornado (WWQ – EEW) trhow tornado, then rapidly switch to defying blast (QWE), trhow meteor, and as soon as your enemy fall to the ground from your tornado, trhow the defying blast

now. why did i put Eul’s scepter is MUST HAVE item?

its simple, it gives you the opportunity to do another combo, what i call the:

use eul’s scepter on enemy.

use sunstrike after 0,5 – 1 seconds, use meteor, switch to defying blast, use it as soon as eul’s scepter’s effect ends.
