Yurnero is a highly disciplined swordsman, one of the Juggernauts, and the last surviving member of his kind. He hails from the Isle of Masks, a lost land that sunk into the sea. Dota 2 reporter yurnero vs axe Stern and serious, Yurnero lives by his honor, and disdains the silly and mischievous. [1] Relying on the bladeform techniques of his homeland, Yurnero has vanquished many beasts, demons, and abominations, [2] and seeks endlessly to improve his craft. He wears a mask over his face at all times, perhaps out of ritualistic devotion to the Isle’s gods.

Origins [ edit ]

The Isle of Masks is Yurnero’s native land, ruled by numerous lords and home to various deities. Yurnero worships at least one of these gods, making pilgrimages to Temple of Masks to pay his respects and perform rituals to the Maker of Masks. [3] Steeped in tradition, the Isle of Masks is home to Juggernauts, who cons >[4]

Trained in the ways of the blade, Yurnero soon became an accomplished swordmaster, and received a katana named after the legendary Akakiryu to go with this distinction. [5] A collector of swords, he owns items of jade and stone, crafted by the Kuur-Ishiminari, and a rare blade forged by the ancient smith Sabasteen. [6] He also possesses an inscribed sword, holding a soul sealed within, as well as a risky, unguarded blade as testament to his skills. [7] Perhaps the most powerful weapon in his collection is a blade of The Lost Order, an ancient school whose techniques sliced through the fabric of reality itself. [8] Along with swordsmanship, Yurnero has mastered the island’s healing arts, performing rituals around totems to mend wounds. [9]

Yurnero demonstrates his prowess by facing down great beasts, claiming their bones and tusks as honored trophies. [10] On the Ivory Isles, he slew thieves who stole its precious artifacts, and claimed a mask of Corodont ivory for himself. [11] Even unarmed, the Juggernaut is a force to be reckoned with, and once killed a mountain wolf with his bare hands. [12]

Exile [ edit ]

Bound by honor, Yurnero’s personal ethics eventually caused him to defy a corrupt lord. For this, he was cons >[13] Instead, he was cast out of the Isle to live as an exile, but not before receiving a prized hakama from his last swordmaster. [14] A special mask was also bestowed up on him, to signify his status as an outcast. [15]

Perhaps through premonition, Yurnero knew that after his exile, he would never set foot on the Isle of Masks again. [16] His prediction would come to pass. Not long after, he found himself the sole survivor of his people when the Isle was sunk through the work of terrible magic, killing his family. Despite this, Yurnero never grieves, preferring to replace sorrow with a personal quest for honor. [17] [18] Vowing to continue the ways and traditions of his homeland, he still performs rites to the Faceless Ones, invoking the Visage of Vengeance in the process. [19] Although the Temple of Masks had been destroyed, Yurnero carries out its rituals as he had before, only now on the battlefield. [20] The sole remaining practioner of the Isle’s unique martial arts, Yurnero’s discipline never waivers as he continues to practice and hone his skills. As a ronin, Yurnero has been known to carry a second sword, slung over his shoulder, just in case his primary weapon is insufficient. [21]

The Sundering [ edit ]

In an unspecified event, possibly a duel, [22] Sven cleaved Yurnero’s mask in two with the Adjudicator’s Blade, [23] cracking its top and awakening the ancestral souls that la >[24] Among the spirits was an ancient dragon, who now accompanies Yurnero and contributes his powers to him. [25] Thus, the Juggernaut became a being merged from many souls. The dragon’s might, combined with the strength of his ancestors, made him more powerful than ever before. [26] Yurnero and his dragon are grateful for Sven’s actions, and feel they owe Sven a debt of gratitude. [27]

After the sundering, the Juggernaut and his dragon planned to restore what they have lost. [28] Once the Ancient is destroyed, they vowed to bring back their people and begin the rebirth of the Isle of Masks. [29] [30]

Relationships [ edit ]

Yurnero once had a romantic relationship with Lanaya, but the two broke up after he d >[31] Lanaya feels jilted and has not gotten over the breakup. She is quite angry at Yurnero, to the extent of threatening violence, [32] and attempting to make him jealous. [33]

Azwraith is an old friend of Yurnero’s. [34] They both know Kanna, and Yurnero often asks Azwraith about rumors regarding Kanna’s return. [35] Long ago, Yurnero also used to train with Xin, with interesting results. [36]

Finally, Yurnero is concerned about the rise of Sorla Khan, the violent and unreasonable new Oglodi leader of the Red Mist army. He wishes to discuss a solution to the problem with Axe. [37]

After The International 2012, it looked like SingSing would stay with mousesports for a long time. But in October 2012, it was announced that The GD Studio would sponsor the team’s trip to Star Ladder Finals after mousesports dec >[4] [5] SingSing then represented The GD B-Team for the tournament but it was made clear that this was a one time thing and the team would have to find a new sponsor. Sounds daft right but looking at it you get +15 str and +15 agi for 1.9k gold. Sure you don’t get the extra range but it’s still pretty stat efficient.

Could be a good pick up if it’s a rough game on stat centred carried to get you through the mid game. Slark/PL/TB/Spectre? can’t think of anymore but I’m sure there are.

Would try it myself but I don’t fancy playing in LP.

S&Y has more stats and good passives for a slightly higher price.

SY gives +16 str and agility instead of 15. Yes it is better because you also get maim/MS/AS/Dmg but the ‘slightly higher’ price is over double the cost.

You could actually buy 2 dragon lances and have 300 gold spare over an SnY.

Obviously given a free choice would pick SnY but I still think dragon Lance is better for the cost.

tried it on tb, it’s not that bad depending your opponents

I think it use is more for heros like DK, CK, Lifestealer, Tiny, Treant even ES, though I personally wouldn’t for Treant or ES. Heros that deal a lot of damage but have a slow attack speed and disadvantaged by the fact they are melee and must stay in range to attack.

The extra range doesn’t work with melee heroes. You would get it for the stats which almost none of the heroes you’ve mentioned really need.

S&Y has more stats and good passives for a slightly higher price.

You can break S&Y down into it’s component parts to make other late-game items with it though. If the match goes longer than 40 minutes and you’re farming well, then the real issue for Dragon lance is that it’s a mid-game item occupying a slot AND you’re losing half the effect. I’ve bought Dragon Lance occasionally on DK and Troll just for gits and shiggles, but it’s not worth it for most melee heroes IMO. There’s other stuff with decent stats that you can get the full benefit of for not much more cost in most cases.

Sange you can only turn into a Halberd and Yasha only into a Manta. Dota 2 new item dragon lance No SnY carry is really going to want to get a halberd in most games. Sure some can build Manta but again there’s really no diversity.

Late game options for SnY is to turn it into a Manta and sell the Sange for most SnY carries which is why you often see it kept until they can sell it and completely replace it (and it’s rare the game will go that far).

Dragon Lance is much more flexible. You can build the ogre club into BKB/Sange/Aghs/(Echo Sabre) and a Band of Elvenskin into a Yasha to compliment the Sange (from Ogre club) or into Manta. Dota 2 new item dragon lance Sure you lose one of the bands so it’s 225 gold lost but I think that’s OK honestly.

Seems like the perfect item if you’re later game options are going to be delayed.

Silencer dota 2 spotlight

  • Stolen intelligence is directly removed from the enemy’s base intelligence and added to Silencer’s base intelligence.
  • Can only steal from base intelligence + intelligence gained from levels. Bonus intelligence cannot be stolen.
  • It does not matter how an enemy hero within the radius dies, Silencer always steals its intelligence.
  • Silencer also always steals intelligence when he deals the killing blow on an enemy hero, regardless of distance.
    • However, Silencer needs to be alive as the kill happens to steal the intelligence.
  • Cannot steal intelligence from illusions or hero clones.
    • When Silencer kills a Meepo clone however, he does steal intelligence, since killing a Meepo clone also kills the main Meepo.
  • Cannot reduce enemy base intelligence below 1. Silencer also does not gain intelligence from heroes that are at 1 intelligence.

Dota 2 Techies Mine Placement Guide

We all have recently experienced a fun game between Team Secret and Fnatic. A draft with techies in it is just so much fun to ignore. Players have actually started giving techies more importance as the hero can really be a pain in the bums if played properly, even in competitive matches.

So, we have created a short guide on how you can be a better techies player.

Some important points to note when playing techies are as follows

  • Techies was not born to last hit.
  • Techies has no place in lanes.
  • Techies team is playing a 5 v 4.
  • Techies and team fights are two different things.
  • Role of Techies as a support ends after buying and upgrading a courier (and probably some wards).

Now comes the part of mine placements. This is the most important thing to master. The minimap below will allow you to better understand the placings and areas that can be the best for you to place minings. Remember! It is important that you catch your enemy off guard with your mines. The reason why this is being emphasized is because the obvious mine placings spots are mostly cleared through wards and then techies becomes nothing but a feeder.

The picture above will greatly assist in knowing important spots to mine. The spots are colored according to priorities and you should know when to use them for the best possible outcome.

  • Red – Common Spots – Hardly rewarding – Mostly cleared
  • Orange – Uncommon Spots – Greatly Rewarding – Difficult to clear
  • Blue – Rare Spots – Greatly rewarding – Never Cleared
  • Green – Remote Mine Positions
  • Numbered Icon – Triple mine positions

As can be seen these Red are the spots people are aware off. So, there are hardly players who tend to place mines on the common spots. The Orange icons show positions that are uncommon and therefore people don’t usually tend to clear these spots. So these are worth giving a shot if you want to hear random techies kills every no and then.

Then comes the extremely rare spots but probably the best spots where techies should place mines. The mentioned spots are common points where enemy players might be caught roaming so its better to place mines in these key areas. These spots also allow offensive and defensive support to your team as well.

Now comes the Green spots that should solely be used for remote mines in case of a lane or high ground push of the enemy team. They can also be placed in the jungle if you have proper warding inside.

The numbered icon show triple mine placement spots that are done on the start of the match. People usually are aware of these spots but they are still worth a shot. Who doesn’t love the sound of first blood with Techies?

That is almost the complete pictorial representation for techies mine placement positions that will allow you to own your opponents next time you pick techies.

Next week, Valve will host the 2019 Dota 2 International Tournament in Shanghai. Valve set the event location a year ago, but in the wake of Hong Kong’s political protests, fans have taken to spamming the event’s Twitch chat (note: China banned Twitch last year) with support for the protestors in Hong Kong.

Since June, protestors have taken to the streets of Hong Kong to push back against a proposed bill that would allow the government of Hong King to deport residents and foreigners to China. Devilish dota 2 twitch international Hong Kong, while technically part of China, has its own separate, less restrictive government from China’s mainland. Hong Kong residents fear the bill could send them to China and that they would suffer unfair legal prosecution.

The police in Hong Kong have responded to protests with extreme violence and aggression. The Chinese government has referred to the protests as “terrorism” and reports have claimed that the military might soon get involved.

All of this has made fans of Dota 2 who support the Hong Kong protesters very upset that Valve has decided to move forward with the competition in Shanghai. In order to show solidarity with the protestors, people have flooded the Twitch chat for the streams leading into the Dota 2 event with messages and memes that rally against China’s government. The non-stop barrage has completely taken over any discussion about the events.

As reported by Kotaku, Dota 2 has a huge presence in China, and Valve, like Bethesda did with Fallout, has made some big moves recently to support the Chinese community. When the company announced the Shanghai location last year, the city government said they felt “honored” and that they would offer their “full support.” The protests had not yet started at that time.

Now, it seems fans would have preferred that Valve take a political stand against China in the wake of this new bill. Instead, according to comments on Reddit, the moderators for the event have taken to banning certain phrases and words from the event chat in order to discourage the barrage of political messages. Users have gotten banned for using the phrases “Tiananmen Square” (which references the famous historical event in Chinese history) and “Winnie the Pooh” (a nickname used to mock China’s president Xi Jinping).

This whole mess has escalated quickly and the event hasn’t even begun yet. It seems as if online protestors will continue pushing up to and throughout the tournament for Valve to cancel the event and host it elsewhere. It remains to be seen if the main event will go on as scheduled on August 20th. Valve has taken a stance on Dota 2 tournaments before, so look for an official response soon.

Dota 2 is available now on PC.

How Do Roster Changes Impact the Dota 2 Competitive Scene?

After the International ended in August, we knew the worse part of the Dota 2 industry was coming — the inevitable roster changes. Every year, without fail, organizations critically examine their team’s performance at the International with the intent of determining whether or not the current roster “works”. Too often, we see entire teams drop their players to create a “new” team or drop several players because they “aren’t working out.”

So what impact do roster swaps have on the Dota 2 competitive scene? And are these roster shuffles healthy?

Long-Term Investment versus Short-Term Gains

Dota 2 teams can be constructed with the intent of being either a long-term investment or a short-term gain. Long-term investment teams are created with the intent of developing the players so they grow and learn together. Players then are able to make in-game decisions knowing how their teammates will react appropriately without the need for explanation or communication.

An example of a long-term investment team would be Team Liquid. Team Liquid has remained pretty consistent with their team composition from about 2015 onward with only a couple of changes in two years (JerAx and FATA – left the team in 2016 and were replaced by Miracle – and BuLba. Sfz dota 2 roster changes Then GH replaced BuLba in 2017). In that time, they also won TI7! Liquid has adopted the mentality that investing in their players’ growth wins them the title of world champions.

Short-term gain teams are generally constructed like an all-star team — all five players are dominant solo players but their ability to work with their teammates isn’t consistent. These types of teams generally last only a season and are dropped or shuffled immediately following an unsuccessful tournament. Examples of these types of teams are Team Secret and Fnatic. These types of teams don’t focus on growth or development but instead hope for team synergy and unity by adding and subtracting players as soon as they don’t perform well.

The Impact of the Individual Player

Some teams like to focus on investing in the team as a whole, other teams create all-star teams, but a select few teams like to draft around a central player. Examples of this can be seen with organizations like Natus Vincere (Pre-TI8), Evil Geniuses and Team Secret. Certain players will become the focal point of the team and managers will attempt to find players that pair well with the play style of their focal player.

Na’Vi’s Dendi and Evil Geniuses’s SumaiL are two superstar players who have become the team’s focal point. Natus Vincere and Evil Geniuses will not only draft the team around these two superstar players but their in-game strategies will revolve around them too.

How Much Change Is Too Much?

It’s hard to see our favorite teams roster transfer or lose several players. Losing two or three players is a major change for a team of only five players. Drastically changing 50 percent of a team is a huge gamble for teams. OG, the winners of this year’s International, won against all odds as they were forced to pick up two players last minute after fly and s4 left to EG halfway through the season. But the question isn’t whether a newly changed team can succeed in the face of adversity, but rather is such a change healthy?

20 Million People Tuned In For International ‘Dota 2’ Championships

Those who don’t know much about the eSports scene will probably be surprised that more than 20,000,000 fans streamed The International Dota 2 tournament two weeks ago The event, which ran from July 18th-21st, had over 2 million concurrent viewers in their run-up to the grand total of 20 million streamers.

With the best Dota 2 teams from the entire world assembled, it was a must-see for active fans of the game and evidently garnered interested from elsewhere too. In the end, the International Dota 2 Championships have certainly made a strong case for e-sports as a whole.

The total prize pool for the tournament totaled just over 10 million dollars, with the winning team taking a cool 5 million US dollars for their efforts along the path to success. With such serious money and support behind the tournament, it’s not surprising to know that the event was covered online and through mobile devices by both ESPN2 and ESPN3, which marks one of the first times a major sports network has gone all out to air an e-sports competition. Valve’s very own founder, Gabe Newell, appeared on the channel this past Sunday – and his coworker Erik Johnson had this to say about the event:

From the success of the Compendium to the collaboration with ESPN, this year’s International really demonstrates how much competitive gaming has grown to rival traditional sports. We believe the teams have also pushed to a new level of play this year and will further demonstrate the incredible advances made across this tournament since it first began three short years ago.

The competition had a unique way of raising funds for the event called the Compendium system. Players could purchase a compendium in-game, of which $2.50 would go to funding the prize pool of the tournament. The compendium could then be leveled by making purchases within the Dota 2 store, or collecting drops inside the game, which would then reward the players with different tiers of cosmetic items. The system was a huge success – it would be hard to argue that the 10 million dollar prize pool was in any way a failure.

Compared to last year’s championships, 2014 brought in about double the number of concurrent streamers. Games like Dota 2, StarCraft 2, and League of Legends have made strong impacts on the eSports scene, which isn’t devoid of its own controversies. We won’t even go into the popularity of online gambling base on the game. Though still more popular in countries like South Korea and China, it’s good to see the influence and competitiveness of competitions like this are on the rise in North America and Europe as well.

What do you think about e-sports, Ranters? Is this your scene, or would you prefer to watch different games?
