Dota 2 player numbers drop sharply after introduction of Reborn client

Things are not rosy over in the land of lane-pushing and tower-diving. A sharp decline in average player numbers has hit Dota 2 in the wake of the introduction of Reborn as the main client for the game. Via tracking site Steam Charts, there was a 16% drop in average players in September alone, the largest in the game’s history by some 40,000. It also marks the lowest number of average players in a month since October 2014. There are a number of possible explanations.

The time of year is one unfriendly to games – time-rich students, teenagers and kids are returning to school, as is anyone else who works in the education sector. However, other years did not see a similar drop and other games haven’t observed such a significant impact this year either. While it’s true that those sectors make up a large portion of Dota’s playerbase, a drop of this size would require half the angry teens of the western world to get banned from Steam in one go, and I haven’t executed that phase of my plan yet.

Reborn itself is also shouldering some blame. The Dota subreddit is still packed with complaints every day about bugs, exploits and real-game situations where they’re occuring. Most recently Valve had to issue an update to fix broken hitboxes that were making enemy heroes, creeps and neutrals difficult to click on in a pinch. There’s serious problems with specific visual effects being visible in fog of war, revealing the location of enemies. With enjoyment of a MOBA already balanced on a knife edge, it’s easy to imagine players quitting in frustration when these problems occur.

It’s also worth noting that 2015 as a whole has seen a flattening of Dota 2’s popularity curve. While the game has steadily grown month on month since 2012 up until now, it seemed to peak at around 600k average players in February/March of this year. Since then it’s sat steady in the mid 500,000s, other than another spike in August, likely off the back of TI5 hype. Doomsayers can go home, the game is hardly dying, but may have hit a glass ceiling for the time being.

Then there’s the game itself. The last patch cycle was definitely too long, with everyone ready to move on by the end of TI5. That’s fairly normal, but, at least to me, the want from the community for changes seemed far greater this time around – not least because of the mine-laying Techies. However, rather than the usual big TI patch that introduces a new hero and changes some of the very building blocks of the game itself, a balance patch was issued, with larger changes promised for after the Frankfurt Major. These patches are usually so significant that they draw interested eyes from all over gaming to see how one of the oldest and best competitive games in the world is reinventing itself this year – that hasn’t happened, yet.

So what does it mean? Nothing, yet. If the game sees another big drop, more investigation will be needed to see where these players are going. Plus, Valve’s next big impact on the game, probably the post-Frankfurt patch, will be a key moment to see if Dota can still draw public attention. Frankfurt itself will play a role also: an exciting tournament always inspires more players into a game. We’ll keep on eye on it but in the mean time, have any of you recently jumped out (or in) to Dota 2?

LAN Tournaments: All fun and games or no?

Virtus. pro has been called out regarding their lack of seriousness at MDL Macau 2019.

Virtus. pro is one of the most consistent top teams in Dota 2. Over the course of the two-plus years, the Russian organization has created a masterpiece in the Dota 2 scene — their playstyle, personalities, and presence are a work of art that amazes fans around the world. You can’t help but to stop and stare in awe as they take the battleground and stage.

Throughout last season they managed to surpass all expectations, taking the first major title of 2017 and 2018, becoming the first team to seize two consecutive major titles, and were the first team to stake a claim of a TI8 direct invite in the middle of the season, long before any other team was able to secure their place.

Despite having secured their position, the team refused to back down. Instead, they charged forward even harder finishing the season with a total of 12,372 qualifying points. That is almost 3000 points more than Team Liquid who was next in line.

This year things are looking to be pretty much the same for the team. They are currently sitting tied with Team Secret for the first place position in the 2018-2019 DPC season rankings with 7950 points – another 3750 points more than Evil Geniuses who occupies the third-place slot with 4200 points.

Despite all of their accomplishments and glory, the team is now under fire for not taking their appearance at MDL Macau 2019 seriously. During the draft of the group stage of the event, both Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko and Pavel “9pasha” Khvastunov were caught on film playing the new Battle Royale phenom Apex Legends instead of participating in the selection process.

Both retired professional player/analyst Yaroslav Vladimirovich “NS” Kuznetsov and former VP player Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk called out the team for such standards of practice.

NS’s stance was that the team was not taking the performance seriously (based on results and performance in the group stage) and that they should be ‘ashamed of themselves and leave the event’.

Roman Dvoryankin, general manager for the organization responded that ‘VP have a right to not always be try-harding to the max, they are allowed to entertain viewers and have fun themselves, and this helps build their brand.’

Lil also then pointed out that this was a contradiction to the organization’s statement of that they had chosen MDL over ESL One Katowice 2019 for the sake of the fans, and posed the question of ‘Who are you really playing for then? The fans or yourselves?’

Long-time fans might remember that in 2017 with so much talk about their limited hero pool and their rehashed strategies, Virtus Pro went to Dota Summit 7 with something special in mind for their opponents. They challenged themselves to play an Elimination Mode tournament where they wouldn’t repeat any pick for as long as possible. That lasted until the fifth game of the grand finals.

So, this then poses the question: Do teams lack integrity by playing in these events if they do not wish to take them as serious competitions?

Perhaps another team could have benefited from the experience and the financial earnings of playing at the event. Perhaps the other teams competing against Virtus. pro feel cheated or offended by their actions that translate to implying that their opponents are not worthy of being taken seriously.

According to Team Secret manager, Matthew “Cybormatt” Bailey, this type of behavior is not tolerated in other esports games.

While the above-mentioned situation was regarding banning out five support heroes against a new all-women team who were mostly support players, it still shows that action is taken against teams that do not uphold the integrity of the game.

The incident has sparked much debate on professionalism, bad manners and compromising the integrity of LAN events.

Dota 2 Asia Tournaments Qualifiers Recap

The attending teams as all regional qualifiers have reasoned have been finalized by the 2017 Dota 2 Asia Championships.

Along with the four teams that were welcome, Wings Gaming, and Evil Geniuses, Newbee, OG have set their course to attend the 2017 DAC occasion. Eight teams from across the world have punched their tickets to Shanghai by means of a sequence of qualifying matches.

iG Energy (China)
LGD. Eternally Youthful (China)
The twelve teams in total earned their approach by means of a week-long to the next DAC occasion set of matches against the top teams in their area. Asia dota 2 mmr booster

Team VG. J also finished first in their various group, despite only winning three of the matches and tying another two. With Invictus and VG. J already qualified, just two positions stayed with four teams competing for them: CDEC Gaming, iG Energy, LGD. Eternally Youthful and Vici Gaming. While LGD did the same to Energy cDEC took Vici in their matchup down. When both victor fought with each other, LGD could finish a 2-0 sweep and clinch a DAC place. CDEC wasn’t out of yet, nevertheless, as they’d play the victor of Vici and iG Energy. Energy could survive and eliminate the great team; winning 2-1. The impetus appeared to be in another series in the favor of Energy as CDEC swept and became the final qualifying Chinese team.

The Southeast Asian area held an eight-team qualifier a mixed-nationality team that placed 5 finals. Faceless went 2-0 in their group, progressing to the playoffs to confront Mineski. GGNetwork, the second-place team in another group. Faceless immediately swept and moved on to confront WarriorsGaming. Unity, a team they swept in group play. Now, however, WG was prepared and conquered Faceless in three matches to proceed to the Grand Final. In another match, Faceless and TNC matched up. Faceless could finish another sweep to progress to play WG. Unity once more. In the Grand Final, Faceless dismantled their adversaries, defeating them in in just under 17 minutes in the next as well as less than half an hour in the initial match to end up being the only Southeast Asian qualifiers. In the last match, WG was held to only one single kill, while Faceless racked up 16 of their very own.

Team Liquid ended in the top in the European qualifier, getting the better of the astonishing ‘B)ears’ in the Grand Final. Liquid would finish a sweep in their own. This generated a confrontation between Liquid and B)ears, where Liquid would take a hard fought success. Yet again, Cloud9 was embroiled by B)ears. This generated a rematch between B)ears and Liquid. Sadly, Liquid prepared nicely while B)ears’ magic ran out as Liquid became the qualifying team and immediately won the series.

DC could sweep the most popular team of NP. This must have fired up NP as they steamrolled through the low mount after the loss, sweeping coL and Onyx, who was conquered by DC at the same time. This led to a different rematch between NP and DC, unarguably third and the second – greatest teams in North America, just behind Evil Geniuses. NP was eventually capable to overcome Digital Chaos, clinching a spot in the 2017 Dota Asia Championships, and winning the series in two matches.

Ultimately, we’ve got the CIS qualifier. Eight of the most effective teams in the area fought for the closing DAC position. In groups, Virtus. pro was not able to compete on account of net dilemmas, compelling them to forfeit all their matches. This resulted in Team Spirit and Effect to top the group while Vega Squadron and Team Empire captured the opposite group. Effect and Empire progressed after conquering Vega Squadron and Spirit to the next round of playoffs . Empire managed to sweep Effect in the series matching the utmost effective two group play teams against each other. Spirit swept again as they did to progress to the Grand Final – challenge Team Empire. Unlike the initial show, Effect could get a match, winning the first one. They were not able to win the series, yet, losing another two matches the closing DAC team, to Empire.

Since the qualifiers have ended, all eyes are on the $500,000 tournament that starts play on Mar. 28. The victor is likely to be between the best two teams on the planet, Evil Geniuses and OG, but the outcome cannot be sure when adding in defending TI6 winners, Wings Gaming, and an always-tough pack of teams starving to destroy the greatest’s opportunities at another title.

Dota 2 Night Stalker Gu >

Share

One of the most feared gankers in the game, Balanar the Night Stalker is a strong hero that can dominate games during the night time. This night time period that makes him strong is his unique characteristic, to balance it out, he is very weak during the day time.

He is a very easy hero to play since he doesn’t require much farm early on and his skillset is pretty straightforward.

Night time comes for you!

Pros and Cons

  • + Very fast during the night
  • + Tanky due to high Str
  • + Spammable nuke that deals a good amount of damage
  • + Can get legal maphack (more on this later)
  • – Melee
  • – Single Target
  • – Loses a lot of his power during the day

For more help on Dota 2, read our Riki, Crystal Maiden and Axe Guide.

Dota 2 – Night Stalker Abilities

Void
Creates a damaging void that slows an enemy unit and deals damage. Void also mini-stuns, interrupting channeling abilities. The slowing effect lasts longer at night.

  • Day Duration: 2
  • Night Duration: 4
  • Move Slow: 50%
  • Attack Slow: 35%
  • Damage: 90/160/255/335
  • Cooldown: 8 seconds
  • Manacost: 80/90/100/110

Your main nuke, it has a ministun as well as a slow that lasts for either 4seconds during the night or 2 seconds if used during the day.

Cripling Fear
Night Stalker horrifies the target enemy Hero, causing it to miss attacks and become silenced. The effect lasts longer at night.

  • Day Duration: 3
  • Night Duration: 5/6/7/8
  • Day Chance to Miss: 10%
  • Night Chance to Miss: 40%

Your means to keep enemies with blinks, invisible and other kind of escape skills from running away .

Hunter in the Night
Night Stalker is in his element at night, attacking and moving with great swiftness.

  • Move Speed: 20%/25%/30%/35%
  • Attack Speed: 30/45/60/75

The passive that makes him very fast during night time.

Darkness
Night Stalker smothers the sun and summons instant darkness, so that he might use his powers at their fullest. When used at night, it extends night time by Darkness’ duration.

  • Duration: 25/50/80 seconds
  • Cooldown: 180/150/120

In trouble during the day? Cast it and it’s night again. Want to gank someone but it’s day? Just cast it. However, the optimal use is to just use it whenever it is night, since it will extend it. When Darkness is maxed, you can make the game go almost perma night by using it everytime cooldown is over.

  11. Darkness
  12. Cripling Fear
  13. Cripling Fear
  14. Cripling Fear
  15. Stats
  16. Darkness

This is the standard Night Stalker build. You max the Void for obvious reasons since it’s your main killing tool. You take a level of silence at level 2 for utility purposes and sometimes you can even get a kill with the short 3 seconds of silence during the day.

Hunter in the Night doesn’t do absolutely nothing during the day, but you take it at level 4 because night comes soon when you are level 5,6 or 7. Darkness is taken whenever possible since it will allow extending the night, as well as getting the extra speed when it’s day.

Night Stalker Recommended items

Starting: Gauntlet, Gauntlet, Branch, Branch, Salve, Tango
These starting items will give you some nice stats to get some last hits as well as giving extra hp.

Core: Boots of Speed, Magic Wand, Urn, Bottle, TP Scroll
These items are all you need to start the killing. They will take care of both your regen and mana needs. Urn is a very good item to pick since night time should grant you a lot of kills, keeping your Urn with lots of charges to heal yourself and your team, as well as using it offensively to damage enemies.

Boots Choice: either Phase Boots or Power Treads
His passive almost grants him max move speed, so the phase ability won’t boost you by much, but it will let you run without being blocked. The stats from treads are also nice and you can change them to int if you need some extra mana. Dota 2 phoenix skill build

Ultimately both are viable, his passive already grants him 75 attack speed so in the beginning you will want to complement it with more damage that phase gives, instead of attack speed that treads give. I recommend you try both several times and stick to which one you like the most.

Strong Extensions: Aghanim Scepter, Vanguard, Black King Bar, Armlet
These items will further boost your survivability. Scepter will give you unobstructed vision during the night time AKA the legal maphack. It gives you a vision with a radius even bigger than an Observer Ward. It will tell you if enemies are alone and all their offensive movements.

The only downside is that it only works during the night. Vanguard will give you some hp and the damage block will allow you to dive towers and take more hits. BKB to make you magic immune against stunners and disablers. Armlet will give you some cheap damage and hp, if you can use it.

Luxuries: Assault Cuirass, Basher, Heart of Terrasque
Assault will give you a lot of armor and attack speed, while also helping your team and lowering enemy armor. Basher is a nice addition after it because you will have a lot of attack speed that will grant you some bashes during the team fights.

Heart will make you very very hard to kill as well as giving you a ton of regeneration when outside fights.

Night Stalker Strategy Tips

In the beginning, either choose the solo mid, or go to the safe lane with a support since he is not a very strong laner. Aim for boots and urn before the first night.

Night Stalker should gank during the night and farm during day time. However don’t suicide during the night (pick your targets beforehand and account for missing heroes) and don’t take farm from your team’s carry.

The best counter for Night Stalker is a simple TP scroll, sometimes you can’t just use Void to start the gank or enemies will just teleport away. Other times when you are killing people, their allies will try to teleport to counter your ganks.

Aghanim Scepter should be obtained in almost every game, it is THAT good. The only way you get caught out of position during the night is when you are answering the phone or something.

During the night you have a lot more vision than other heroes, so you can react faster to enemy presence than them can react to you. But the opposite is also true during the day since NS has very low sight.

Try not to prolong games too much, even if you can dominate the early game, at late game there are a lot of heroes that can take you on easily if they get farmed. Sometimes people playing Night Stalker get too overconfident and don’t realize that they can’t kill certain heroes anymore.

DAC Playoffs – VG vs. EG finals

Dota 2 Asia Championship

As the fourth day of playoffs for DAC 2015 concludes we had to say goodbye to Big God and Secret. The two teams fought valiantly until the bitter end, but fell just short of the finals. That leaves us with a giant of a match up for the grand finals. A grand final, for the 2nd largest prize pool ever, between Vici Gaming and Evil Geniuses should make any dota lover a bit giddy. Will EG get revenge on VG for knocking them into the loser bracket? Or will Black^, iceiceice, super, fenrir and fy continue dominating the playoffs? Only time will tell. The grand finals will be played Monday, Feb 09 6:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) and no matter to what side you’ve pledged allegiance, this is something you do not want to miss!

Playoffs: Day 4 Bracket

The day started off with two swift and decisive victories for Vici Gaming against Evil Geniuses. By winning this game VG qualified for tomorrow’s grand finals and the opportunity to win 1,2 million dollars. EG, on the other hand, had to fight their way through the lower bracket. They were set to play the winner of BG and Secret. No matter who the winner would be in the end EG would have to perform their best as they lost to both teams in the group stage of the tournament.

In the above mentioned matchup, BG lost a game one that was completely dominated by Team Secret and found themselves with their back against the wall in game two. As is customary when Secret play Radiant these days, they completely controlled the game. So when Secret in game two took an early lead it looked like Big God had fallen. But thanks to some amazing plays Big God managed to turn it around and win the game, despite rOtk seeming to do his best to help Secret win near the end. The celebration was rather short lived though. Both game 1 and 2 took close an hour to complete. In game 3 it seemed like Secret put their foot down and managed to roll over BG in a little over 30 minutes. Even though LaNm made almost every lasso from S4’s batrider result in nothing, as he executed his role perfectly and used nether swap to great effect. Game number two is one of our recommended games of the day, and if you watch only one game today, we guarantee that this one will not disappoint.

With EG and Secret ending at the top of the group stage, the table was set for a matchup of epic proportions. Staying true to their habit, Secret chose to play Radiant in game 1 and 3. During their 15-0 run in the group stage, Secret only played 3 games as Dire. But for once the Radiant pick did not work out for Secret. Instead we got to see Universe show Secret what’s what with his Axe, while Arteezy underperformed playing Medusa. Dota 2 asia championship 2015 final nfl So for game 2 Secret, the team that went 15-0 in the group stage, was one game away from elimination. For any other team in this tournament, third place would have counted as a great finish, but the expectations for Secret were high. As game 2 started PPD said “Anything you can do, I can do better” and picked Medusa for Fear. This Medusa, together with PPD’s Lion, was too strong for Puppey’s men. As the game was at a very tense stage, with EG being 2 barracks up, Secret managed to sneak into the roshpit as Medusa teleported in to damage the last set of barracks. As rosh fell Arteezy tried to TP to defend, but was interrupted by a great blind hook by Universe on clockwerk. Thanks to this the last set of barracks fell and Secret ended up leaving the tournament in third place.

Series of the Day: VG vs. EG

Game 1

VG would opt for a very aggressive lineup game 1. Some early rotations from fy on the Earthshaker and Fenrir on the Skywrath mage would allow them to take control of the map early on and limit EG’s ability to split push with their push oriented lineup. Eventually, however, Furion and Zeus’ combined map presence would begin to pick in, giving EG some space and allowing Fear and Sumail to keep pace in farm with VG’s cores.

Mid game would be a capricious ballet of teamfight after teamfight. While VG had a very strong lineup to get pickups and take fights, EG’s Zeus would allow them to periodically check on VG’s position, clearing the way somewhat for Lycan and Nature’s Prophet to try to split-push. Though VG would lead in net worth, they would unable to be able to convincingly take teamfights. By the time the late game would come around, VG would only have an 8k lead in team net worth. The constant engagements would be very back-and-forth. VG had the potential to output more damage in these teamfights, but EG had more control. However, VG would slowly force EG onto the back foot. By establishing control of the map, VG were able to take rosh often and push out their lanes to deny EG any chances at all to rat. Eventually, VG finished bkbs up on their three core heroes, and close the game with a few good teamfights, taking game 1 of the series.

Game 2

In game 2, EG would go for a lineup more akin to their usual style, putting Fear and Sumail on farming cores, while Aui and ppD would take the roaming supports, while VG would stick to a very aggressive lineup once more. Aui would be put on the roaming Mirana to great effect, and EG would be able to gain a slight edge early on with some repeated pickoffs on the Sniper mid. However, Sumail’s Shadow Fiend mid began to suffer when Skywrath mage rotated into his lane. With Fy’s help, Super was able to easily and repeatedly take him down. Then, to further exacerbate EG’s situation, iceiceice was able to get a hefty amount of exp and gold against the Fear’s solo Lone Druid and would begin ganking on his Clockwerk. Their own offlaner, the Beastmaster, would be not as impactful. Despite their early lead, EG would find their advantage slowly slipping from their grasp.
The mid game would not go so well for EG. VG’s lineup would be well equipped to deal with them in fights. The Clockwerk would isolate and trap a squishy target or two, while the VG’s supports would sit back alongside the Sniper and tear through EG. Despite their best efforts, VG’s powerful ganking and teamfight capabilities would allow them to take pretty much every engagement that game over EG. Though VG and EG’s cores weren’t too far apart in net worth, VG’s position 3-5 heroes would double the net worth of their corresponding roles on EG.

In a well-executed example of early game decision making and rotation on the supports, VG would decisively take the second and final game in this series, moving on to take a spot in the grand finals, while EG drops down to the lower bracket to play the winner of Secret vs BG.

Dota 2 Broodmother Guide by Shaella_

Hi. I’m Shaella, I play some Dota occasionally. I’ve been playing since WC3 dota, though i was terrible back in those days and am significantly less terrible now.

And with that lack of terribleness, I’ve decided I should write you guys a quick and dirty guide on how to play what i think is one of the most criminally misused and misunderstood heros in Dota. Dota 2 brood The spiderqueen herself, Broodmother.

The common misconception about Broodmother is that she’s all about spawning spiderlings and pushing. This is actually, in my opinion one of the worst ways to play Broodmother. Spiderlings are decent, but the spiderites they spawn are nothing more than 150 hp bags of gold that the other team is all too eager to collect.

To properly play broodmother, you have to change your thinking of the hero. Broodmother is not about pushing, taking towers is something ancillary to your goal. Broodmother is a hero all about creating pressure on the other team to deal with you. Ideally you want at least 2 heros to be forced to deal with your threat against the other team’s towers, this frees up the rest of your team to accomplish goals on the map with a numbers advantage.

This is why Broodmother is best in the offlane solo lane. She requires the solo experience to get her abilities online, and the offlane provides broodmother with access to a very important resource for success. The enemy’s jungle.

And its at this point that I’m going to move away from some of the mental theory on the proper way to play broodmother, to explaining how her abilities are used to supplement this mindset.

Broodmother’s Q is spawn spiderlings. A fairly simple spell, 75 damage per level, 10 second CD, and every time you kill someone, it spawns 1 spiderling per level you have in spawn spiderlings. The spiderlings have a poison bite, and when a target bitten by a spiderling dies, it spawns a very weak spiderite. spiderites are even squishier and are worth more gold, so you want to avoid spawning them.

This ability, to a broodmother who is focusing on pressure, has very little use outside of its nice 300 damage done. So whats the way a pressure focused broodmother uses this?

Well. Primarily its used to harass to drive enemies away, with occasional uses of it in 2 other ways.

The first is to rapidly spawn up an army to push a tower, you can easily spawn up 8 with one wave of enemy creeps, with each one being about equal to a melee creep in strength, they can push down a tower.

The second is to send these spiderlings into the enemy jungle to farm and block camps, increasing the amount of pressure the broodmother is outputting, I believe this is the FAR superior way to using spiderlings.

Many people when thinking of broodmother, think of spiderling surrounds. These are possible of course, but you’ll rarely find a good situation to pull one off, unless you have truly excellent micro (I once played against Idra, who was playing as broodmother, his surrounds were very impressive)

Primarily, use this ability to burst down targets, its damage is pretty significant, as is its range, and utilize any other spiderlings to farm the enemy jungle and increase your personal income.

Overall, the most important thing is – not – to feed spiderlings away, without getting something significant in return like a tower, they give away a lot of money, and there are many heros who can wipe out armies in a second with their abilities. Spawn them carefully and rarely, otherwise you will feed the enemy team enough gold to end you.

Her second ability is of course, her webs, which allow you to walk over – EVERYTHING-.

And I really do mean EVERYTHING, cogs, ice shards, trees, cliffs, the map itself, webs allow Broodmother pretty much unprecedented mobility, allowing you to escape many ganks you shouldn’t be able to, as well as granting you a nice movespeed bonus and health regen that is extremely powerful in the laning phase.

The third, and what I think is Broodmother’s REAL keynote ability, is Incapacitating bite.

This ability allows Broodmother to simply be the best duelist in the game, a 40% slow, and a 60% miss chance means that most rightclickers simply cannot stand against you, and squishy casters cannot escape from you because of the slow.

Combined with Broodmother’s ult, you can basically 1v1 anyone and they’re going to have a hard as heck time fighting back.

Its worth noting that this ability is an orb, so certain items like Desolator won’t do anything on brood.

Finally Brood’s ult, Insatiable hunger gives you HUGE damage, and massive lifesteal to back it up, and it synergizes heavily with Broodmother’s incapacitating bite.

Your starting items should be a stout, some tangos, and some gg branches to round the lane out. Consider upgrading the stout to a poor man’s shield if you’re under a lot of harass. If the enemy buys sentries, don’t be afraid to buy your own set(or ask a friendly support to) and wage the ward war back.

Web is the most important skill in lane, and you want to put a good number of early points in it for the additional regen.

My favored skill build is W>Q>W>E>W/Q>R, max Q, then W, then E, taking the ult when possible.

Broodmother’s core items are a set of power treads, a soul ring, and a manta style.

I believe this build is far superior to the classic ‘orchid’ build for several reasons

Manta makes you even harder to chase after, as you can use it to dispel dust, and the movespeed makes you harder to escape from.

The soul ring allows you to use any spell at will, as the regen from your webs is more than enough to sustain you in lane and throughout the game.

From this point, Broodmother has a lot of options, but I would focus on items like BKB, Butterfly, and Basher as these enhance Broodmother’s ability to fight 1v1, and force more heros to deal with you, thus creating space for your team.

AC is situationally excellent, Broodmother does benefit from the -5 armor and attackspeed a fair amount, but I believe a basher is better before it. Vlads is just outdated in my opinion as well, the aura does very little for spiderlings, (besides making them soak more tower shots), and the cost of it is very cheap, brood shouldn’t have any trouble getting money post laning phase.

I don’t have much more to say, if you’re interested and have a question comment below, and I’ll do my best to reply, I find that responding to questions is a better way of explaining things than just typing more of a wall of text than i already have.

Keep in mind that in Dota, all things are situational, there may be a game when going orchid>vlads may be the right build. There is no way I can provide a fully comprehensive guide explaining the correct item choice in every scenario. This is simply a general guide to helping you get into the right mindset to play brood, and items that complement that, it is not a bible.

Dota2 1v1 Tournaments Rules

F. A.Q

Did not receive invitation from bot. What to do?

Bot invitations will not arrive if you have enabled “Block party invites from non-friends” in Dota 2 settings. In order to participate in WePlay! Dota 2 tournaments, you need to disable this settings under Settings->Options->(To Advanced Settings) Socials.

  1. General Conditions

1.1. WePlay! Dota 2 tournaments are governed by the following set of rules and regulations which apply to all participants in order to provide a fair and pleasant experience for all our users.

1.2. For violation of any of the clauses of the rules, the Referee reserves the right to issue a warning (verbal or written), a technical defeat, or a ban (the time is set by the Referee) based on the severity of the violation.

1.3. Users repeatedly receiving warnings might be penalized with a technical defeat or a ban for a certain period of time.

1.4. Google Chrome is the recommended browser to participate in the tournaments.

  1. Tournament Format

2.1. Participants compete in a Single Elimination bracket – a single loss results in elimination from the tournament.

2.2. Game Mode —1v1 Solo Mid

2.3. All participants must select the same hero which is specified on the lobby page.

2.4. All matches are played on a single map. (Best of 1).

2.5. Tournament draw is done randomly by the system.

3.1. The main communication channel for organizing matches is WePlay! Esports Discord where participants must be present during the tournament in order to avoid technical defeat in case of technical system failures.

3.2. You will receive an automatic invitation to the match lobby at the start of the tournament. If a player does not sit in a player slot in the lobby in 10 minutes, the player receives a technical defeat. Players are responsible for internet connection problems, client updates, or other technical difficulties that can stop them from showing up in time.

3.3. If your game lasts longer than 25 minutes, you need to pause and inform a Dota2 Admin on the WePlay! Esports Discord server. Otherwise, you may receive a technical defeat.

3.4. Both players must select the same hero which is specified on the lobby page (the hero icon will become gray after one player picks the hero, but the other player is able to make the same pick). Picking another hero even by accident results in a technical defeat.

3.5. Every player can pause the game up to 3 minutes. The total number of pauses cannot exceed three per match. A player can keep the game paused for a longer period of time with the consent of the opponent.

3.6. If one player unexpectedly disconnects from the game, the other player must keep the game paused for at least 5 minutes.

3.7. If the opponent pauses the game in order to play a game in another tournament, it is allowed to resume the game with the permission of a Dota 2 Admin. To do that, you need to provide an Admin on WePlay! Esports Discord server with enough evidence to support your claim.

3.8. Before resuming, the player who paused the game must make sure the other player is ready. The game can resume as soon as the opponent announces readiness.

3.9. The player who kills the opponent’s hero twice or destroy their tower is the winner of the game (suicides also count as kills).

3.10. A participant who refuses to play a game again requested by the chief Judge receives a technical defeat and loses any prizes won in the tournament.

  1. Allowed: Creeps, runes, jungle, Bottle, Infused Raindrop, shrines, and using Helm of the Dominator on creeps are all allowed.
  2. Prohibited:

5.1. It is forbidden to swear, humiliate, provoke, abuse and deceive participants as well as judges during a tournament by any means. For such violations, the player may receive a warning or technical defeat and lose any prizes won. To report such behaviors, you must provide screenshots.

5.2. Unpausing your opponent’s pause during the first 3 minutes, unpausing your own pause without notifying your opponent and his/her approval, and not pausing the game when your opponent’s client crashes are all prohibited. If any of these actions happen, the Referee can penalize the player in violation of the rule with a technical defeat. To file a complaint, you need to provide the Referee with screenshots proving your opponent has violated this rule.

5.3. Unsportsmanlike behavior is prohibited. Examples of such acts include but do not limit to sabotaging a match, manipulation of rules, exploitation of bugs, and verbal abuse.. Punishments range from a warning to total disqualification from the tournament.

5.4. A player’s name cannot include propaganda, racism, or any form of hatred towards representatives of a certain nationality.

5.5. A player’s avatar cannot contain violent images, pornographic material, propaganda, racism, or any form of hatred towards representatives of a certain nationality.

5.6. A player’s name cannot include a domain (for example: www. google. com or google. com). Such players will not be allowed to participate in WePlay! tournaments.

5.7. Every user can only have one account on WePlay! tournament platform. Duplicate account owners will be penalized.

6.1. All claims of violation of the rules are accepted for consideration within 10 minutes after the game. If there are no claims after the specified time, the result of the match can no longer be changed. It is highly recommended to keep screenshots of all complaints, violations, misbehaviours, and match results until the end of the tournament.

6.2. Technical defeats are issued only after a Judge approves.

6.3. All the above mentioned rules are situational and can be interpreted differently by the Judges for each game in order to make the best decision.

6.4. Any situation not covered in the rules will be handled by the tournament administration.

6.5. Any participant in a disputed or conflict situation is responsible for the accuracy of the information submitted.

6.6. Decisions of the Judges in any situation including those not described in these rules are final and not negotiable.

  1. Prize and Miscellaneous

7.1. Prizes are awarded to the accounts of players that win prizes on weplay. tv website.

7.2. In order for a prize to be awarded, the player winning the prize must have played at least a match in the tournament. Winning every match in a tournament by technical defeats does not make a participant eligible to receive a prize.

7.3 The tournament administration has the right to change and modify the rules at any time at its discretion .

7.4 You can leave us your feedback and suggestions regarding WePlay! tournaments and staff on our WePlay! Esports Discord server or by writing to our support at support@weplay. tv.

Items Still Not Tradeable/Not Marketable Over Due date! (BUG)

UPDATE: SOLVED!
What I did is I just installed Dota 2, run it, accepted all items I bought – that’s it. You can trade them now. I hope it will work for you.

Hi, I want to report this bug. I bought 2 Treasure Keys in Steam Community Market and your system said it can be tradeable after Dec 30 2014 2:34 and 2:35 AM but It’s already Jan 2 2015 and still non tradeable and not marketable.

Here is my Inventory link I set it to public so you can check it:
http://steamcommunity. com/id/BurNIng. uls/inventory/
and the screenshots of the items attached.

Last edited by exd001; 01-09-2015 at 09:28 AM . Reason: fix

Same thing here. It applies to every item I bought this day.

I don’t know why Valve thinks that I should suffer 7 days delay for trading only because some morons are not responsible enough to keep their account safe (with steam guard!). If someone should suffer – it’s them.
But we know you lie and it’s not the real reason anyway.

Yes. but my problem is I delayed so much time to gift this keys to my friends
Based from the description it will be tradeable after Dec 30 2014 2:35 AM but now its already JAN 2 2015 AND STILL NOT YET TRADEABLE.

Yes I understand because I had the same date as you have but I came with the solution which I found accidentaly by myself.
What I did is I just installed Dota 2, run it, accepted all items I bought – that’s it. You can trade them now. I hope it will work for you.

THANKS! You’re Great! hahahahaha

Any other suggestions about hot to fix it?

Same problem here. Opened and closed the dota client and my set is still not tradable or marketable

Summary:
After waiting the allotted amount of time required to trade or sell items on the market again, they’re still not tradable or sellable.

Repro Steps:
1. Bought item from community market
2. Waited allotted amount of time. (This particular item says January 4th. )

Result:
There is a time stamp added to the item along with tags “not tradable” and “not marketable” when purchased from the community market. The time stamp value is reached. The items new tags remain along with “This item can be traded after [time stamp]”

Expected Result:
The original item’s text should have been restored as well as the tags removed. The item should also have a green “sell” button when selected and viewed in preview pane. I don’t know if this is the correct terminology, sorry.
