Do you use it? yes or no.
Are you even aware of it? yes or no

Aware, but not use. Too lazy to reload it every time.

Also, looks like it disabled for matchmaking anyway.

No, I wasn’t aware of this. What is it and what does it do?

it draws a circle around your hero, much like the ones you see when you hover you mouse over your skills. Only in this case you set the radius of the circle. Ppl generally use it to
– see how far until the tower shoots at them
– see how far the pudge hook goes
– see how far the Clockwer hook goes

I personally consider it as a light form of cheating.

Your thinking of the wrong command, that one was disabled.
This one draws an arrow when you select a targeting spell, showing the range and casting point of that spell just like in LoL/HoN/Prime World and ever other game calling itself a MOBA/ARTS

Thank you, to both of you.

Whichever is correct, I admit that sounds like something that is very useful. I’ve had plenty of moments when I dove in to close or was out of position because I mis-estimated the range of certain abilities.
On the other hand, if everyone isn’t playing with this same option, the it DOES feel more than a bit like cheating.

I didn’t know about this, but it seems like it just works around having to actually learn the things (which doesn’t take very long).

Try playing 4 different games, each with similiarties and minor differences and try playing more than one hero of each.

Having a visual range indicator immedately gives you an idea how to use that hero’s skills. It actually gives players confidence to try out new heroes.

HoN basically screwed itself over for taking so long implementing range indicators, probably lost tens of thousands of player to LoL alone simply by delaying range indicator for so long.

LoL was designed in such a way that the basic mechanics was quick and easy to learn. HoN and DOTA2 for some reason chose to hide basic and vital information, screwing themselves over in terms of building a bigger playerbase in exchange for what really?

DOTA2 can be made more accessable without even having to touch the core gameplay simply by providing it as option and making it visible (instead of having it hidden in the console).

It’s about dota_range_display, not dota_disable_range_finder.

Back to the TS question: yes, I’m using it, so second answer is obvious.

Chess would be easier to learn if it only had half as many different pieces, but then it also wouldn’t be the same kind of game.

Designing a game that takes longer to master isn’t inherently worse; it’s just different.
Frankly, I don’t mind that the game doesn’t hold my hand every step of the way, and that it’s a struggle at times. I think it keeps it from becoming just boring busy-work, sort of like WoW had become before I quit. Plus, when I DO land a really nice hit or master some new facet of the game, I enjoy it more because I know that it was all me, instead of a computer crunching the numbers and going “ok, use ability X when you reach location Y, receive cookies”.

Dota 2 is a Universal Language

This article was originally written in Chinese

For a long time, the East and the West have been the two forces that have battled for supremacy in the Dota 2 world. Two months ago, during the Chongqing Major, the East and West came together in an unexpected way. Team Liquid’s player, Miracle-, was unable to participate in the Chongqing Major due to an emergency. With the tournament just around the corner, Team Liquid, who had already arrived in China, decided to look for a Chinese native carry player as a substitute. TI6 champion Shadow was the best candidate for the job.

Fitting the Tactics

After receiving the invitation, Shadow, who had been temporarily away from the professional scene, was very excited. He immediately agreed to play as a substitute for Team Liquid during the Chongqing Major. He stopped his streaming and quickly arrived in Chongqing. As soon as he arrived, Shadow and the rest of Team Liquid immediately got together in the training room and began to discuss what tactics they would use. Team Liquid has not changed members for over two years, and due to that, the level of tacit understanding between the players can be said to be ingenious. This time, not only was the carry replaced, but the native language of the substitute player was not English. With such a tight schedule, communication and cooperation undoubtedly became a huge challenge to Team Liquid and Shadow.

First, KuroKy asked about the heroes that Shadow usually likes to play. Shadow chose PA, TB and Gyrocopter in the meta of “Gyrocopter and IO”, which were very popular in the patch. Team Liquid’s laning is flexible and their position 1/2 are known to be interchangeable. When Team Liquid asked if Shadow was willing to go mid, Shadow considered that he seldom played the mid lane in that patch, so eventually it was decided that he should play carry.

Because Shadow himself has played in the SEA region for pubs, he is familiar with the heroes’ English abbreviations and English names of the lanes. Therefore, during their tactical discussions, problems seldom occurred.

Sign language Dota, BEST DOTA

Communication within the game is much more urgent than before the game. Whether in the ban-pick phase or in the match itself, the players need to quickly judge and react; even a small mistake can have a fatal impact on the match. At crucial moments, the players even used sign language to communicate.

All across social media, there is a gif of Kuroky communicating with Shadow by using gestures. In the playoff game against Team Secret, Kuroky asked Shadow if he would prefer to play Jugg or another hero. Shadow chose Jugg. Kuroky said that the Battle Fury was not good for Jugg, and hen Shadow pointed to Sange&Yasha, Kuroky crossed his arms to show the shape of the Sange&Yasha and gave a thumbs up, expressing that Sange&Yasha was the right choice for the game. This process made Gh and Mind_Control laugh, and this funny process was also retweeted like crazy by fans on Weibo. Although the game was eventually lost, the team members earned a deeper understanding of each other.

In addition to “Sign language Dota”, Shadow also explained to us some of the terms they commonly used, such as “go”, “back”, “smoke”, “fight”, etc. Also, all Dota 2 players are able to understand the chatwheel and ping signals. Team Liquid’s cooperation with Shadow is sometimes very tacit, such as “Gyrocopter and IO”, because Shadow and GH’s understanding of the hero duo is virtually the same. Their judgment on the situations they found themselves in were consistent, so they knew how the other would play. There were a few mistakes, such as the in the last game, as TB fought a losing battle with his teammates against Fnatic.

In the end, Team Liquid was stopped in the quarterfinals of the Chongqing Major.

More than just Dota 2

The Chongqing Major was full of twists and turns for Team Liquid. First, Miracle – couldn’t participate because of an emergency. Then, during the game, Shadow had a bout with acute gastroenteritis and was admitted to the hospital. The players were concerned about the condition of Shadow, and they had to use translation apps on mobile to communicate between themselves.

Once, Shadow vomited in the toilet of training room. Mo the manager came over to give him a banana and touched his stomach, telling Shadow that it was good for his stomach. Then Shadow vomited again and told the manager “Banana is out.” The players couldn’t help but laugh: “Fine, banana is out.”

Although the process was difficult, everyone cared about each other and according to Shadow, the atmosphere was joyful and harmonious.

On the bus back to the hotel after their loss to Fnatic, Shadow was silent because he blamed himself for their loss. On the contrary, Team Liquid’s players quickly got over the loss and discussed how many burgers MC could eat all at once. Though Shadow didn’t talk a lot — and sometimes he just stood alone because he couldn’t understand the inside jokes —, Team Liquid’s player would take him by the shoulders and let him feel that he was part of the team.

In the eyes of Shadow, Team Liquid is confident and happy. They care more about the joy and enjoyment of the game, rather than winning or losing. In the eyes of Team Liquid’s players, Shadow does not like to talk but is diligent. The character and styles of players from varying cultural backgrounds may be different, but they have the same goal — that is to win!

Valve Prov > By Stephanie Mlot 5 Jun 2014, 1:08 a. Dota 2 reporter 42 rustic exterior m.

From failed ’80s tech to a new revolution, virtual reality has come a long way, thanks to companies like Oculus VR, Sony, Samsung, and now Valve.

Valve has remained mum about its VR plans, but last week it entered the game with the debut of its Dota 2 headset at the Boston VR Bender.

Images of the device surfaced Tuesday on Reddit, alongside a user account of the product.

“I participated in the Boston VR jam this past weekend … and had my mind completely melted by the Valve hardware and demos,” Redditor jonomf wrote in a post.

The user described Valve’s head-mounted display, dubbed Dota 2, as “amazing,” boasting low persistence, perfect tracking, and high frame rate, but did complain of feeling disoriented after removing the device.

Judging by the images published by jonomf, Valve’s Dota 2 VR headset takes some design cues from the Oculus Rift, though the prototype looks bigger and more geometrically inclined than the Rift.

Hidden behind its polka-dotted exterior are dual vertical 2,160-by-1,280 OLED screens—a higher resolution than the Rift’s 1,920-by-1,080. And don’t be fooled by the headset’s unusual design: those dots, according to jonomf, are IR reflectors for more in-depth movement tracking.

There are no further details regarding the VR device, when it may be available to consumers, or how it will compete with Oculus VR and other rivals. Additional Boston VR Bender photos are also available on Reddit.

“To be clear, the Dota 2 VR modes were mentioned as demos/experiments, not as confirmed things that [Valve will] release,” jonomf said. “Awesome as it would be, taking it with a grain of salt please!”

Valve did not immediately respond to PCMag’s request for comment.

The game maker is playing nice with challenger Oculus: In January, Valve updated its Steam Client Beta with a new experimental virtual mode open to those with a Rift dev kit. The move came a month after Valve installed a new “VR Support” search filter on Steam.

Ok Icefrog, we all know you love Slark, and you badly want to see him in TI4. So there’s nothing I can do. So lets just do it this way, give slark the biggest baddest sword in the game. Make him bigger than Tidehunter , bigger flames than Doom and more thorns and horns than SF and Nyx combined. Maybe then I can understand why he is OP 🙂

PS. Slark looks stupid so thumbs down on your design skills as well.

are you going to give us an explaination as to why he is op?

77 hours in dota 2 and his only other game on steam is call of duty so this was expected ..

He forgot to mention his scary pointy teeth

LOL, he needs those teeth nerfed

are you going to give us an explaination as to why he is op?

Like all complain threads similar to this start. OP just had a game in witch he and his team got destroyed by skilled slark so instead looking at the match critically and examining what went wrong he decided to make a qq thread.

actually, yes Slark really is OP, he’s got a Fountain on his back a 3.5 sec lockdown every 8 secs, thats 4 sec interval (♥♥♥♥ beast masters ult! this guy has 3.5 secs and waits another 4 secs for another lockdown *facepalm*), an escape mechanism, Essence shift drains (int) mana (agi)armor and (str)hp. Slark can start snowballing at lvl 6 with only a freaking power threads
And he can dispel most of the counters stated above like ampli and track. slark is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t

I hope you do realize that if he’s chasing you 1v1 and he connects you still can fight back/stun/disable it?

Also if you are low on HP and don’t wanna fight you can time avoid being connected by just moving sideways as he’s about to jump?

I agree that he’s a strong hero and that you have to be carefull with him, but he’s not OP for sure and to prove that I challenge you to pick slark and post a mach ID on how you rock @ level 6 with power threads.

Dota 2 is Free to Play, Has Shop, Open for Business

In the dead of last night, Dota 2’s Shop opened its doors. It’s the most significant update that Dota 2 has received since it first went into beta, and it means more than just making very clear exactly what Valve is planning to do with the game and exactly what they are and what they aren’t willing to do in the name of financial gain.

The most significant announcement is that they’ve confirmed that it’ll be free to play, funded entirely by the sales of cosmetic items that the new shop sells. This also comes with the news that allheroes will be available to everyone from the moment you boot up the game, which is important in more ways than one. There’ll be nothing along the lines of League of Legends unlocking mechanic, and nothing will ever be sold that will give anyone a competitive advantage in the game.
There’s an extensive FAQ on the update pagethat details exactly what they’re trying to do with the free to play aspect of things, as well as addressing concerns that have been flying around fan forums for the past few months as the evidence for cosmetic items started to mount. The greatest of these, that of keeping of a thematic tone consistent in the game, is one of the first questions answered.
“We’re acutely aware of the community’s concerns around remaining true to the theme of the game, so much so that we think the community should be directly involved in the process of choosing what goes into it. The Steam Workshop allows you to submit your votes and thoughts on contributed items before we make any decision to put them into the game, so jump in and help us stay on the right track. We think the community at large is actually really good at making these kinds of decisions.”
Which alludes to the second huge addition to Dota 2 with this update. Along with the shop, there’s going to be an extensive workshop presence, allowing the community to both make new items for their favourite heroes, but also vote on those that should be considered for addition to the game. With so many people getting extremely antsy about exactly what goes into their game, this should be a great way to keep something like Alpine Ursafrom ever becoming a reality.
The addition of the shop is clearly the big news here, but Valve have also managed to sneak a few things onto the shelves that have suddenly changed a lot of things with Dota 2. The most important of these is the Early Access Bundle, coming in at £24.99, that gives you a beta key and £14.46 worth of items for both Sven and Juggernaut, as well as giving you the Mighty Boar courier. Which essentially means that, for £10, you can buy Dota 2 right now.
Which is kind of huge.
“We don’t really think of Dota 2 as a beta, but we also aren’t ready for everyone to show up and start playing just yet. We are constantly updating the game with new heroes, bug fixes, and new features. None of the items you purchase or the progress you make will be lost or reset once the game is available for everyone.”
The translation here is that Dota 2 is now released, for all intents and purposes. You can buy it, and that means that anyone can have access to it from this moment forward. It’s not officially released, and there’s always going to be changes and additions made to it, but right now you can go into the store and pick yourself up the Early Access Bundle and you now have Dota 2 on your account. Congratulations.

Dota 2 when do runes spawn

Dota 2 when do runes spawn

Dota 2 when do runes spawn

Dota 2 when do runes spawn

Runes are magic items that can be collected by any hero, and when used give that hero a temporary power. On the Dota 2 map, two runes will spawn every even minute (0:00, 2:00, 4:00. ) unless no one picks it up, in that case a new rune will not spawn unless the one that is there is collected. The two spawn locations are located in the river about half way between the middle and top/ bottom lanes (pictured on map).

There are two ways to use runes. They can be picked up immediately, or placed in a bottle for future use. Once a hero has captured a rune, they have up to two minutes to use that rune before it automatically activates. A bottled rune cannot be transferred to another character. Once that rune has been used, the bottle will be fully charged to 3/3.

There are five different types of runes that can spawn, each of which offers a different advantage to the hero that uses it. The same type of rune will not spawn two times in a row.

    Types of Runes

Haste – The haste rune gives your hero a movements speed buff of 100% for 30 seconds. This is a great rune to have for ganking, or possibly if you need to escape in a hurry.

Uses: Good for escaping certain death, or quickly moving to another lane to gank.

Illusion – Using the illusion rune will create two “copies” of your hero on either side of you for 75 seconds. These copies can attack, but only do 35% of your damage. They also take more damage than you as well, melee copies taking 200% more, and ranged 300%.

Uses: You can use the illusions to scout for you, increase your damage output, and as a defense by confusing the enemy team.

Invisibility – Probably the best rune for ganking an enemy player, the invisibility rune renders the hero invisible for 45 seconds. There are some exceptions however as any building/ unit with trues sight can spot the invisible player. These include things like towers and sentry wards. Also, any action like attacking or using abilities and items will break the invisibility spell permanently.

Uses: A gankers best friend, use it to sneak up on unsuspecting enemy heroes. Other uses could be as a surefire escape, or to scout the map more safely.

Regeneration – This buff gives heroes greatly increase health and mana regeneration for 30 seconds. The increase is 100 health/second and 67 mana/second. Once the hero has reached full health, the spell fades. Being attacked will also cancel the regenerative effect, so best save it for when you’re in the clear.

Uses: Try saving it for use during/ after a team fight. Once you get low, disengage from the fight, fill your health/ mana back up and dive right in again.

Double Damage – This rune will increase the base damage of your hero and any illusions you control by 100% for 45 seconds. One thing to note is that only attack damage is affected by the double damage rune, not spell damage. As well, any items that cause raw damage, like the divine rapier, are not affected by the buff.

Uses: Great rune for your teams damage dealers. By popping the double damage rune in a team fight, you can give your side a pretty powerful leg up in the damage output department.

    Dendi

Danil “Dendi” Ishutin (born December 30, 1989) is a Ukrainian professional Dota 2 and former DotA player. Well known for his solo mid skills, he is regarded as one of the most creative players in the scene today, and is renowned for his unorthodox play style and unconventional skill and item builds. After having played for Natus Vincere for the entirety of his professional Dota 2 career, he finally departed the active roster for the first time in September 2018. He currently plays for The Pango.

    Biography [ edit ]

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, Dendi got an early start with competitive gaming in net cafes when his elder brother married, moved out and took the family’s PC with him. Dabbling with Counter-Strike first, he soon found Warcraft 3 where he played in local tournaments and built a love for the competition and a thirst to be the best. Though he was quite successful in Warcraft 3 and even won a few local championships in Lviv, he knew he had found his calling when he stumbled upon DotA. He picked up the game quickly and played it almost exclusively over the next few months.

Beginning with learning only supports, he practiced heavily and was quickly vouched to the IHCS1 league and soon created his own team for tournaments in Lviv. After he led his team to a championship in Kiev, he was drafted by a team called “Wolker. Gaming” and began his professional career at 17.

    DotA [ edit ]

Dendi started playing professionally with WG in 2006. [1] He was a part of the Ukrainian squad that finished third in MYM Prime Nations the same year. Only a few months later WG made it to the grand final of one of the most prestigious tournaments at the time; MYM Prime Defending. [2] When Kingsurf. international merged with WG the next year he became a full-time member of Ks. int. [1] In late 2008 he joined DTS, only to return to Ks. int in March 2009. [3] Three months later though, Dendi returned to DTS. [4] The team would end up finishing 2nd at ESWC 2010. At the end of 2010, Dendi and DTS finished 3rd at the prestigious WDC 2010. [5] Dendi joined Natus Vincere at the end of 2010. [6]

    Dota 2 [ edit ]

Dendi started his Dota 2 career with Na’Vi, who quickly established themselves as one of the best teams in the world by winning The International 2011. Na’Vi continued to dominate and won many tournaments in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. Dendi was the center of Na’Vi’s consistent stable and skilled rosters, with his performance greatly contributing to their success.

The Natus Vincere Dota 2 team achieved significant success with Dendi as their midlaner during the first few years of the game; they finished as the runners-up for both The International 2012 and The International 2013, losing out to Invictus Gaming and Alliance, respectively. 2013 would mark the last year of Na’Vi and Dendi’s dominance in the Dota 2 scene, as they only recorded two LAN victories since January 2014. The International 2014 saw Na’Vi and Dendi finishing the tournament outside of the top 2 for the first time and the following two Internationals, TI 5 and TI 6, they would finish in last place. The results would deteriorate further, as they would fail to even qualify for The International 2017, they failed to advance out of the group stage of the regional qualifiers. This marked the first year of The International tournaments without Dendi attending as a player. The 2017/18 season started of promising for Dendi and Na’Vi, who dominated the CIS scene in the early months, crowning their improving results with their second LAN victory since 2014. However, the second half of the season saw the roster break apart and finally the team would fail to even reach the regional qualifiers for The International 2018, after losing in the open qualifier.

Four years of roster instability and poor results finally took their toll on the reputation of the Na’Vi organization and on Dendi’s status as a legendary player and a top tier midlaner. After 8 years playing mid on Na’Vi, Dendi was finally removed from the active roster in September 2018. However, Dendi vowed to continue playing professionally. After a brief stint on Tigers, Dendi joined The Pango.
