Dota 2 Secret Shop arrives for The International 2017

THE DOTA 2 Secret Shop has arrived ahead of The International 2017 finals.

The Dota 2 Secret Shop is now live

The annual Dota 2 Secret Shop has been announced by Valve today, allowing players to snap any merchandise they desire ahead of The International finals.

“Featuring a host of both original and community-created designs, the Valve Store powered by WeLoveFine is now taking orders to ship this year’s products almost anywhere in the world,” a message from Valve explains.

“Plus, to help expand the reach of the shop’s offerings, our partners at Perfect World will be accepting orders next week at ChinaJoy and the Perfect World Secret Shop.

“For fans making the journey to Seattle next month, the on-site Secret Shop will offer a select range of items for attendees at KeyArena, including several gifts with purchase exclusive to fans at the event.

“More information for on-site purchasing will be available to ticket holders soon, so keep an eye on the inbox associated with your ticket purchase.”

As mentioned above, those attending the event in Seattle will have access to the best stuff to buy, with the on-site Secret Shop details coming soon.

It follows news that The International prize pool has now grown to epic porportions.

25% of all Battle Pass sales go directly to The International 2017, with Valve adding in around $1.6 million.

But the biggest chunks comes from fans, with the 2017 prize pool now past the 20m mark, as well as last year’s number.

2016 saw $20,770,460 up for grabs, 2017 is now past that and still has a number of weeks to run before the tournament kicks off.

The Dota 2 Battle Pass 2017 differs a little from earlier versions. The usual goodies will be available to fans who buy in, however, Valve have also added the Siltbreaker multiplayer campaign.

All Battle Pass owners can join in on the “cooperative adventure,” requiring players to party up with three friends or queue-met allies to battle through a landscape of loathsome monsters, cunning traps, and other lethal terrors.

The new multiplayer campaign comes in two parts, with Act 2 A Vault in the Deep, set to be released by Valve this summer.

Other things in the Dota 2 Battle Pass 2017 includes new team quest, in which players will have to complete team-objective missions, as well as single – and multi-game goals.

These special assignments will net players extra Battle Points, as well as a Completion Reward unique to that Path.

Normal defensive pillars are also being replaced with Prestige Towers that combine Battle Level totals of teams. The type of towers you’re able to construct will depend on your team’s combined level of prestige.

A new Trivia mini-game is also set to be accessible while sitting in queues, players can work alone or match wits with others to choose the right answers and best the global competition.

Eight huge changes in Dota 2’s 6.86 update

When a teaser image for Dota 2’s 6.86 patch appeared last Sunday, it felt like Christmas had come early. Dota 2 patches are a big deal: they have a chance to redefine the game and most changes are totally unpredictable. This patch didn’t disappoint, and some of the new additions have fundamentally altered how Dota is played. With that in mind, these are eight of the biggest changes in 6.86.

Heroes that depend on passives are in for a tough time

Phantom Assassin got a nice little intelligence boost this patch, but she’s probably feeling down in the dumps due to one specific change: Silver Edge’s break can no longer be purged. Break is a mechanic that disables a hero’s passive skills. This includes Phantom Assassin’s Coup de Grace and Blur, Huskar’s Berserker’s Blood, and Anti-Mage’s Spell Shield. While Silver Edge is expensive and the break is still prevented by spell immunity, any passive-dependent hero has to play with incredible caution. A Black King Bar will be needed to deter any would-be breakers. Bristleback with broken bristles is incredibly squishy, and a broken Phantom Assassin feels like a really bad Anti-Mage.

Aether Lens redefines how some heroes play.

Aether Lens provides two bonuses that were almost never seen in Dota: more cast range on targetted spells/items and a slight buff to all spell damage. At first glance that may not seem impressive, but the 200 cast range buff can redefine heroes and totally alters mid-game scaling. For instance, an Ogre Magi with Aether Lens may suddenly have the range on Fireblast to make him a constant threat in team fights. For Bane, Fiend’s Grip would have whopping 825 range.

For many heroes that can use the item, Aether Lens will compete with an early Blink Dagger, Force Staff, or Aghanim’s Scepter. A hero dependent on getting a quick initiation will probably invest in items that provide faster movement. Though anyone that doesn’t need to start a fight in the blink of an eye might pick up an Aether Lens: heroes like Witch Doctor, Lina, or Zeus. In the case of the former, his positioning can become ridiculously safe with the extra range. In the case of the latter two, the bonus damage supplements the range for some major pain.

Dragon Lance opens up options for ranged carries.

Dragon Lance is another cool addition, providing modest stats and a 130 attack range boost for ranged heroes only. While it will be great on certain heroes, like Enchantress, its effects aren’t as pronounced as those from the Aether Lens. It can be disassembled, so it might see play in tower pushes before being put away for a Black King Bar. This could be extra effective with heroes that outrange towers with a Dragon Lance, and lead to way more early pressure.

The laning item possibilities are insane

What if players could start the game with 12 bonus damage, 200 spare gold, and the ability to pop a small heal every 5 seconds? Four new items were added in 6.86, and two have a direct impact on the early game. For 75 gold, Faerie Fire provides 2 damage and can be instantly consumed for a 75 HP heal. Combine this with a Mango, and it’s possible to lane entirely off of consumables. Or maybe mids want to start with a spare Iron Branch, which can now be consumed to drop a happy little tree. This can be used defensively to escape, or even offensively to trap heroes in abilities like Tusk’s Ice Shards. Early game item builds have always had some divergence, but now there are some very noticeable active effects that cost less than 125 gold. Expect some sick tree-planting plays.

once Pudge snags a Scepter, he’ll have a potential burst combo of 950 pure damage, at least 450 magic damage, and whatever damage trickles in from Rot

There’s a ton of new potential in the jungle.

The laning gimmicks are great, but what if players wanted to try a previously slow jungler, like Legion Commander? Quite a few poorly-paced jungle heroes have had their potential jungling speed dramatically increased with the addition of Iron Talon. Iron Talon is a 500 gold item that has an active ability to damages any non-ancient creep for 40% of its current HP. It’s not going to provide a massive amount of sustain, but rather provide a new option for survivable junglers that lacked speed.

Legion Commander and Lifestealer look like stronger candidates for jungling now, but the options are just being explored. Ogre Magi, boasting his ridiculous 3.5 HP regeneration, can find himself jungling with relative ease. My personal favorite is Mirana, and not for the gimmicky ancient farming. Rather, a roaming Mirana who can easily alternate between securing kills and picking off creep camps for easy experience and gold. It won’t be a normal jungling experience, but many possibilities have been opened up.

. and some of the classic junglers might be even better!

The oldies-but-goodies weren’t left behind, and classic junglers like Enchantress and Chen have some new tricks. Chen has some handy new options available if he finds himself stealing ancients, and a new magic resistance aura found on Hellbears and Centaurs could have a huge impact on early pushes. An enchanted Centaur Courser or persuaded Hellbear might be able to keep creep waves alive through a barrage of spells. I’d expect to see some almost unstoppable early pushes in pro games with either Chen or Enchantress leading the charge.

Pro Pudge plays are back

There were a slew of Aghanim’s Scepter changes this patch, many of which focused on normal abilities rather than ultimates. Sand King gained massive range on Burrowstrike, Magnus has an Empower cleave aura, and most importantly, Pudge’s Meat Hook has a four second cooldown when he has a Scepter. Not only is the cooldown shorter, but Meat Hook’s damage is also increased to 475. To make the butcher even more dangerous, Dismember now scales innately and heals Pudge for the damage done, all without requiring a scepter. This means that once Pudge snags a Scepter, he’ll have a potential burst combo of 950 pure damage, at least 450 magic damage, and whatever damage trickles in from Rot. He won’t have the mana to infinitely spam hooks, but he’s always a threat now. Supports beware.

It’s time to relearn Dota while playing Dota

Almost everything has changed—even the map is a completely different place. While relearning terrain and routing is going to be rough at first, a lot of the awesome changes from 6.86 require an item or two to fully appreciate. This means that Dota 2 is going to be changing dynamically from game to game, and even during games. An early Aghanim’s Scepter on Sand King will have significantly different impact than a Blink Dagger. While this has always been true to a certain degree, it’s never been so easy to directly adjust heroes at such a fundamental level. This means that every game of Dota is going to require a new degree of adaption, whether it’s playing carefully around break effects as Phantom Assassin, or watching for a Dragon Lance Sniper chipping away at you from across the river.

In this article, we will teach you how to fix failed to create D3D9 device on Windows. Keep on reading to solve this error so you can quickly go back to playing your favorite game.

What is D3D9 device in DOTA 2 and other RPG games

If you’ve tried opening Task Manager while playing video games on your computer, you will notice that one of the processes running is d3d9.dll. It is the 3D graphics API responsible for adding the Direct X functionality to various Windows games and multimedia tasks. When error messages related to this file show up, it means that there is something wrong with a certain program that uses Microsoft DirectX.

To learn how to fix failed to create D3D9 device on Windows, it is important to understand what causes the error. The common reasons why this problem occurs include the following:

  • Missing or invalid d3d9.dll registry entries
  • A virus or malware infecting the d3d9.dll file
  • Microsoft hardware failure
  • An outdated graphics driver

Solution 1: Changing your game resolution

d3d9.dll issues may occur when your game display’s resolution is not compatible with your computer’s hardware. In this case, you can get rid of the error message by changing the resolution you’re using on your device. If you want to know what your current resolution is, go to your desktop and right-click an empty area. Dota 2 failed to create d3d device reset Choose Display settings/Screen resolution.

With that said, here are the instructions for changing your game resolution:

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key+E.
  2. Go to the game’s folder location.
  3. Look for the configuration file with a. Dota 2 failed to create d3d device reset ini file extension and open it.
  4. Change the settings to your current resolution.
  5. Open the game and check if the problem has been resolved.

You would have to launch your game in windowed mode if you’re running it through Steam. It is likely that the game will function in this mode, allowing you to change the resolution settings.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Steam and go to Library.
  2. Look for the game in question and right-click it.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Choose Set Launch Options.
  5. Type “-windowed” (no quotes), then click OK.
  6. Exit the Properties window.
  7. Launch your game and check if the error is gone.

Solution 2: Reinstalling DirectX Runtimes

If DirectX Runtimes is not properly functioning, it can result in a d3d9.dll error. Try reinstalling it and check if it fixes the problem. Simply follow the instructions below:

  1. Go online and download DirectX End-User Runtimes.
  2. Open the installer.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete installing the software on your computer.

Solution 3: Updating your graphics driver

In some cases, d3d9.dll errors happen because of an incompatible or outdated graphics driver. You can get rid of this issue by updating your driver. We won’t deny that this process is time-consuming and complicated when you choose to do it manually. You’d have to search for the compatible version and make sure that it is installed correctly. As such, we recommend automating the process, using Auslogics Driver Updater.

One of the great things about this tool is, it automatically recognizes what operating system you have on your computer. It will search the right drivers for it, keeping you from mistakenly installing the wrong version. What’s more, it takes care of all problematic drivers—not just the ones that may have caused the d3d9.dll error. Once the process is complete, you can enjoy better performance and faster speed from your computer.

Solution 4: Repairing Windows registry

Most applications, including DirectX for your games, store data in Windows registry. Over time, fragmentation occurs in it. Moreover, the registry accumulates invalid entries that may even cause the d3d9.dll error. As such, we recommend repairing your registry, using Auslogics Registry Cleaner. This tool safely and effectively clears invalid entries, eliminating the d3d9.dll error along the process. The best part is, Auslogics Registry Cleaner is absolutely free!

Can you suggest other ways to resolve this problem?

Comparing MOBAs: League of Legends vs. Dota 2 vs. Smite vs. Heroes of the Storm

Above: Four games that are similar yet completely different.

Multiplayer online battle arenas (but you can call them MOBAs) continue to dominate gaming. We’re here to help you tell the difference between them.

We actually compared MOBAs before, but things have changed since 2013. A couple of new games have made a large impact, and the two top dogs — League of Legends and Dota 2 — have continued to grow. So, we’ve updated the list with new stats and new games.

First, let’s talk about what makes a MOBA a MOBA. Traditionally, they involve two teams of five players, each controlling a hero with unique abilities, that battle on a map with three lanes, a jungle between the lanes, A. I. minions that march across those lanes, and turrets and other defenses that each team has to destroy. You win by annihilating a giant structure in the middle of the other team’s base.

The genre actually started as a series of mods for Blizzard real-time strategy games Starcraft and Warcraft III, with Defense of the Ancients on the latter being the most popular. You can learn more about the history of MOBAs here.

Now, we’re going to start comparing the four most notable MOBAs. We’ll start with a chart, and then we’ll talk a bit about each game below.

League of Legends

Above: Welcome to the League of Legends jungle.

All hail the MOBA king. League of Legends was one of the first standalone MOBAs, and it was able to transform the spirit of the original mods into a free-to-play money-maker. While it has faced plenty of competition, none have knocked it out of the No. 1 spot.

League of Legends got rid of some of the complexities of Defense of the Ancients (the mod for the real-time strategy game Warcraft III that all MOBAs grew out from), notably the capability for players to deny the other team experience and gold by killing their own minions. It also continued to add a steady stream of new heroes, and right now it has a gigantic roster of 126. It has added different maps and modes besides the traditional three-laned MOBA standard, but the original still remains by far the most popular

Dota 2

Above: Dota 2 is more than a game — it’s a lifestyle.

While League of Legends made some changes from Defense of the Ancients, Dota 2 is a pretty faithful update of the original mod. It features the same mechanics and even most of the same heroes. It’s the most technical of the four, so it’s probably not a great place to start if you have no experience with MOBAs.

While League of Legends experimented with alternative maps and game modes, Dota 2 is strictly about playing on the same field of three lanes between two bases. However, developer Valve has recently allowed the modding community to create custom games using Dota 2’s assets, so we’re going to see all kind of wacky variants now.

Smite

Above: Can you handle a MOBA from the adventure genre’s third person perspective?

The biggest difference with Smite is its perspective. While most MOBAs have an isometric, top-down view (a carryover from its real-time strategy origins), Smite is a third-person game. This allows for most of the abilities to require aiming, which can make the experience feel more frenzied and dependent on player skill. Also, while most MOBAs have a purely fantasy setting (another carryover from Warcraft III), Smite bases all of its playable characters after gods from different myothologies.

Smite is also one of the few MOBAs to come to consoles, with an Xbox One version currently in beta. Dota 2 vs lol vs smite ps4 The third-person experience makes a lot more sense for a controller than the traditional, mouse-dependent top-down view. Smite offers a $30 bundle that gives you all playable characters present and future.

Heroes of the Storm

Above: Blizzard heroes duking it out.

The newest kid on the block, Heroes of the Storm is the most casual MOBA on this list. Unlike the other three, it doesn’t have an in-game shop that requires you to buy and use items during play. It also has teams leveling up together, instead of heroes earning their own experience. This can prevent players, especially poor ones, from becoming quickly outclassed in a match.

Also, each Heroes of the Storm map — while retaining the traditional MOBA objective to destroy the other team’s base — has an additional goal that can help your team. One map has you collecting gold coins to turn into a ghost pirate, who then shoots cannons at the other team’s buildings once you meet its price. Another spawns tokens around the map, and getting three of them curses the other team, weakening their minions and structures. These objectives make team fights break out much earlier than in traditional MOBAs. Heroes of the Storm is also something like Blizzard’s take on Super Smash Bros., in that its roster includes characters from all of its franchises.

General DiscussionHow to edge pan?

I have always used the middle mouse drag to move the camera. Dota 2 edge pan broken skull But i’m actually facing a big issue, I have broken my middle mouse button for the third time since I have started playing dota. Dota 2 edge pan broken skull
So instead of buying another mouse, again. I want to learn how to use the edge pan correctly.

I am actually playing against bot to get used to it, but I have some issues with blocking creeps, positionning my camera, my hero and sh*t like that.

Could you please give me some tips about your setting for camera speed and so on?

Using middle mouse is better for medium long range too bad I hate clicking middle button
(They’re really annoying buttons that are hard to click it’s less wonder if you broke them)

6000-7000 for me
50 deceleration

I have no problem creep blocking with edge pan, you need to get use to it I guess

thanks for your reply:)
ho ok so for long range hero middle button is easier.

About the creep blocking my problem is that I use the Zigzag strat to block the creep and when i move my camera I don’t have time anymore to reposition my hero^^’ (also i often end up moving my camera too far away from my hero)

I don’t really understand your pain but good luck in getting used to edge pan just practice.

when i block creeps i hold down on the control group for hero and it centers the hero/unit on the screen and follows
edge pan is lit
3800/20

What is edge Pan.

Sorry, I meant medium long distance, not hero’s attack range. Like from Radiant mid T1 tower to Radiant bottom Jungle or something

You use the same thing on all heroes 😛
Because edge panning for more than 1 second seems inefficient, it will cost you to lose a lot of information and positioning, which is why I set 7000

When creep blocking using zig zag movement, there are two ways to move camera
1. You double press select Hero button to focus camera on hero (Default F1, or you can set control group) or like Fat Tony said
2. You pan ahead of the hero and firstly click on a spot where your hero will turn (or yaw?) then move pointer slightly closer to your hero where you can do the zig zag more, then pan again then yaw then zig zag

does it affect plays ? does plays use it all ?

when blocking creeps i spam f1 (my hero hotkey) and git da ez bulockz

still using middle button on current mouse though.

Thanks for the tips guys :)! I will try the F1 spam!

@ImagineDodong: It’s like when you’re right handed and you try writing with your left hand for the first time^^’

@FAM€: I don’t know why ppl call it Edge Pan, but, it’s just moving your screens by moving your mouse to the end of the screens

@Cheap Laugh Guy: Oups^^’. I actually set it at 6000

@Dental Techinician: Sorry I don’t understand your question

@gold experience requiem: Glad to know I’m not the only one:p

The Reach beta has concluded and the team is now working hard towards the Season 1 launch. Here we share some of the details on the upcoming Season, and what players can expect when they log in to play.

The new patch is wild, with all the positive and maybe some negative connotations this word implies. As such, we are trying to be extremely cautious when discussing it so that we don’t unnecessarily invoke some misguided disenchantment from the community.

62 new items are available for finding, not purchasing. You can now build your inventory through jungling and not spending your gold. Is this good? Bad? Who knows, it’s too early to tell.

The Reach Beta has been a valuable month for us at Elo. The feedback from our community has allowed us to make considerable progress in refining the key automated systems of the platform and we couldn’t possibly be more excited to see people begin to play in Season One.

This is going to be less of a stats recap and more of a farewell to a patch, which overstayed its welcome for at least a couple of months. Instead of going over the same heroes once more, we felt it is more appropriate to highlight some of the heroes which were outside of the meta at the tournament’s start, but nevertheless had a great impact in the later stages of MDL Chengdu.

Bounty runes, come back gold, ancient creeps, camps stacking, and more. The economy of Dota keeps growing and growing but how does that affect supports and cores?

We’ve done a lot of testing with our current systems in the Reach league and are finally confident in opening it up to more users. Divine level players may now participate in Reach, effective immediately.

The first major tournament of the season is finally happening. Get up to date with all the teams participating, their odds of winning it all, and more!

Patch 7.22 is certainly overstaying its welcome and it clearly shows in the current professional tournaments. There are almost no new meta developments and for the most part the Summit 11 concentrated on the same exact heroes as the tournaments prior.

Captains and drafters are some of the most revered pros in the scene. The genius drafting strategies and counter picks can win the game before the first bounty runes spawn. Here are some draft ideas to try out for your next battle cup tournament.

Reach had an exciting and informative first week of games, with over 1000 matches played, and over 1200 unique players participating. Here’s the rundown on week 1, and what’s coming down the pipeline.

The idea of a tanky frontline hero in the offlane has been repeated over and over again for the last several months. It makes sense on the professional scene, while working incredibly well in pubs. Building survivability items and allowing yourself to be initiated on has become the go to strategy for a lot of teams and it is unlikely to change until after the new patch is released.

MMR may just be a number but a higher number is superior. Read this article to learn a few tips and tricks on growing your MMR number.

The current meta has been established for a long time but teams still must find their slight edge. At ESL One Hamburg 2019, we saw more of what we’ve been seeing for a few months now.

Feedback has been tremendous and consistent through the first two days of Reach play. We’ve heard the feedback, and we’re working on fixes. We’ll continue to communicate as we develop the platform, and continue iterate based on that feedback up to and through the launch of Season 1.
