Here are a few hero combinations you can test in your next match.
The key of team compositions in Valve’s autobattler game Dota Underlords is to have good Alliance combinations with decent units.
If you want to have a strong board, you must know which Alliances are the best to center your team around and which are going to support heroes of that core Alliance. Since items in Underlords only start playing a major role on teams in the late game, the way you build your team until then is essential to winning a match.
For instance, there’s almost no use in running Assassins and Mages together since both are offensive Alliances. You might win a few rounds, but you’ll likely lose to the first tanky board you face. Going for Knights and Warriors also might not be a good idea because you’ll survive a long time every round but will likely lose due to a lack of damage to beat your opponent.
Here are a few team compositions you can try to play in your next Underlords match. Some of them are easier to run effectively while others can be situational, but what most of them have in common is that they try to have both good offense and defense. (This is updated for the Aug. 16 patch.)
Knights and Terrorblade
This build features a unique variant of the traditional Knights and Trolls build. Instead of going for six knights, you go for four of them to fit in Anti-Mage and Terrorblade in while having the level-one Warlock and Troll Alliance bonuses active with the help of Necrophos and Witchdoctor.
This build requires you to commit heavily on getting Terrorblade to three stars since it’ll be your damage carry. Getting Anti-Mage to three stars will also be really helpful and Luna could use that, too.
You need eight units to get this build online.
Core heroes
Abaddon (Knight/Heartless)
Batr > Screengrab via Underlords Build Creator
Four Knights (Knight units take 20 percent less physical and magic damage and an additional 20 percent less when standing one cell away from another Knight.)
Two Demon Hunters (Invalidate your opponent’s Demon Alliance bonus. All Demon and all Demon Hunter units gain +50 percent Pure Damage.)
Two Trolls (All Troll units gain +35 Attack Speed and other Allies gain +10 Attack Speed.)
Two Heartless (All enemies lose five armor.)
One Demon (All Demon units gain +50 percent Pure Damage. Active when you have only one type of Demon unit on the board.)
Two Warlocks (Whenever a Warlock casts a spell, they form a link with the Ally who has the lowest health for two seconds. When either linked hero deals damage, both units are healed 50 percent of the damage dealt.)
Support heroes
This build requires no other units to be improved. There are alternatives you can go for depending on your level.
Troll Warlord (Troll/Warrior), to take advantage of the Troll bonus for its damage per second.
Dragon Knight and Puck, to unlock Elusive and Dragon bonuses.
Brawny and Hunters
Since Valve got rid of Alliance items and added some of their effects to Alliance bonuses, Brawnies became a really strong alternative. Brawny units can get 60 extra health for each elimination they have in that entire game if you have the four-unit Alliance Bonus, which is enough to make them nearly immortal in the mid game.
Thanks to the Alliances of Brawny units, there’s a great combination of the four Brawnies of the game with Hunters, Warriors, and Warlocks. This is one of the strongest builds in Underlords today and one to surely go for if you know how to farm eliminations and get that round-one Axe.
It’s important to get your Hunter bonus active as soon as possible with the help of Lycan and another Hunter, which can be either Sniper or Drow Ranger. Having your Beastmaster with two stars is key for success in the early and mid-game if you have that bonus.
You need eight units to have this build running at full force. It’s a great idea to roll for some three-star Brawnies as well.
Core heroes
Axe (Brawny/Warrior)
Juggernaut (Brawny/Warrior)
Beastmaster (Brawny/Hunter)
Disruptor (Brawny/Shaman/Warlock)
Lycan (Human/Savage/Hunter)
Sniper (Scrappy/Deadeye/Hunter)
Pudge (Heartless/Warrior)
Necrophos (Heartless/Warlock)
Active Alliance bonuses
Four Brawny (All Brawny units gain +60 maximum HP for each kill they have.)
Three Warriors (All Warriors gain +10 Armor.)
Three Hunters (All Hunters have a 25 percent chance of quickly performing 2 attacks.)
Two Heartless (All enemies lose five armor.)
Two Warlocks (Whenever a Warlock casts a spell, they form a link with the Ally who has the lowest health for two seconds. When either linked hero deals damage, both units are healed 50 percent of the damage dealt.)
Build with support heroes
Tidehunter and Medusa for Scaled bonus.
Scrappy and Hunters
This build became possible thanks to the addition of the Scrappy alliance to Sniper, who used to be solely a Hunter and Deadeye unit. With this change, it became much easier for players building Scrappy to get the last stage of the Alliance bonus with six units.
This build isn’t contested a lot, which helps players easily build three-star units with it in the late game. The key is to have your Inventors in the front for their explosion damage along with Alchemist for its ability. You can combine Sniper with Drow Ranger and Lycan for the Hunter Alliance bonus.
You can get this build online with eight units, which will get you six Scrappy, three Hunters, and three Inventors. As a ninth unit, Necrophos is the best choice to give you both Warlock and Heartless Alliance bonuses at once. Your 10th unit, if you choose to go that far, can be a Gyrocopter to activate the Deadeye bonus. Medusa can also jump in to replace Lycan in the late game if you don’t have him at three stars.
Core heroes
Tinker (Scrappy/Inventor)
Clockwerk (Scrappy/Inventor)
Timbersaw (Scrappy/Inventor)
Bounty Hunter (Scrappy/Assassin)
Alchemist (Scrappy/Warlock)
Sniper (Scrappy/Hunter/Deadeye)
Lycan (Human/Savage/Hunter)
Drow Ranger (Heartless/Hunter)
Active Alliance bonuses
Six Scrappy ( Allies gain nine Armor and eight HP Regeneration. Armor and HP are doubled whenever you have fewer units alive than your opponent does.)
Two Inventors (Allied Inventors explode on death dealing 30 percent of their Max Health to all enemies one cell away.)
Three Hunters (All Hunters have a 25 percent chance of quickly performing two attacks.)
Build with support heroes
Necrophos for Heartless and Warlock bonus.
Gyrocopter for Deadeye bonus.
Medusa as a replacement for Lycan (if he’s not three stars.)
We’ll update this story as Alliances and heroes change in Dota Underlords.

15 Dota 2 Teams Qualified for the MDL Chengdu Major
The MDL Chengdu Major now has 15 qualified teams. (Image via Mars Media)
The third Dota 2 Pro Circuit season has gotten underway with regional qualifiers for the first Major of the season: the MDL Chengdu Major.
With changes implemented by Valve for this season, the qualifiers for the Major are the first phase of a five-day qualification process. In this phase, 15 teams advance from the pool of 40 across six Dota 2 regions to the Chengdu Major. From each region, four of the unqualified teams are advancing to region-specific double-elimination brackets to compete for a spot at the DOTA Summit 11 Minor. The winner of the Minor will be the 16th team competing in Chengdu.
Beyond the Summit is hosting the regional qualifiers, using the theme of “King’s Cup.” The set is dressed like something out of a fantasy game, with casters wearing bits and pieces of costumes including a wizard’s hat and knight’s armor.
So who qualified? Let’s take a quick peek by region:
China
There were three qualifying teams in China. Mdl dota 2 2015 mineski highlights high five Vici Gaming and Team Aster took the top spots, beating Royal Never Give Up and EHOME respectively. Team Aster is now playing with Pan “Fade” Yi, formerly of Vici Gaming. Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan replaced Fade on Vici Gaming. Both teams won in 2-1 contests, speaking to the strength of the competition in the region.
.@EHOMECN pulling ahead in this final game. Will they be the final China team to qualify for the MDL Chengdu Major?
EHOME also recently made a roster change. The team took the third qualifier spot in China for the Major.
Notably, PSG. LGD is taking a break during this opening round of the DPC.
Perhaps the biggest shocker in the first set of qualifiers was Virtus. pro failing to qualify. The organization was a dominant force in the first two seasons of the DPC. Of course, Virtus. pro has undergone some significant roster upheaval and is currently playing with a pair of trial players. They’ll have a chance to compete for a spot at the Summit Minor.
In the meantime, representing the CIS region will be Gambit Esports and Positive Guys. Gambit Esports was an organization that came up just shy of qualifying for The International 2019. They’ve rebuilt a roster around captain Artiom “fng” Barshack, bringing in Kiyalbek “dream” Tayirov, Danil “gpk” Skutin, Maxim “Shachlo” Abramovskikh and Danial “XSvamp1Re” Alibaev. Of the four, Shachlo is a staple of the CIS Dota 2 scene, but the other three are relative newcomers, finding their first professional teams in the last year or so.
Positive Guys is another new stack, but this time a mix of CIS veterans and newcomers. It includes Igor “iLTW” Filatov, Egor “Ergon” Kozlov, Andrey “Ghostik” Kadyk, Alexander “Immersion” Hmelevskoy and Mihail “Misha” Agatov. Ergon and Immersion have played for 12-18 months each on professional teams, but the others have been around for four or more years with middling success.
Europe
It’s @theAllianceGG reigning supreme and taking the first EU place for the MDL Chengdu Major
Europe was the last region to finish its qualifier. The nods went to the new Alliance roster and the new Team Liquid (formerly Alliance). Both organizations are bound to be pleased with this result.
Several organizations are taking a break in Europe for the first round of DPC events, including OG, the former Team Liquid roster and Team Secret. This pair of events will be a great opportunity for other Dota 2 teams in the region to get some experience and circuit points for potential The International 2020 qualification.
North America
North America, like China, had three qualifying teams. Evil Geniuses beat out Quincy Crew (with Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan, formerly of EG) in a 2-1 battle. Fighting Pepegas (the Jacky “EternalEnvy” Mao stack) beat J. Storm to claim their own ticket, and then J. Storm beat Quincy Crew 2-0 to score the final invite.
It says something that of the eight teams competing in the region, only three had serious organizations and one of them was Team Xolotl. With no Complexity Gaming, Forward Gaming, Chaos Esports Club, Immortals nor beastcoast (who has hopped to the South American region after dabbling in NA at the end of last season), the region is experiencing a drought of reputable organizations to field Dota 2 teams.
South America
By comparison to North America, South America’s stacked full of organizations. How long they can retain rosters is yet to be seen, of course.
The first SA team to make it to the MDL Chengdu Major is @beastcoast!
This was the final region to finish the Major qualifiers. Beastcoast took the top spot, with the former Team Anvorgesa stack (here’s hoping they don’t mind forever being referred to as the cat burgers).
The second spot went to Team Unknown, fielding a new roster as of September 12. It includes Bernando “Berna” Rocca, Juan “Atun” Ochoa, Alexis “Greedy” Ventura, Nicolás “Wij” Moreno and Sergio “Prada” Toribio as the captain. The last time Team Unknown competed at this level was the 2015 Frankfurt Major, where they finished in 9-12th place. Both Prada and Atun were on the Thunder Predator squad that competed at the Chongqing Major in the second DPC season, while Greedy was on the roster that competed in Frankfurt.
Southeast Asia
Last, but by no means least, is Southeast Asia. Mdl dota 2 2015 mineski highlights high five Three teams qualified from this region, giving us Fnatic, TNC Predator and relative newcomer Team Adroit. The latter is an organization from the Philippines that formed in May 2019. Qualifying for the Chengdu Major is by far their most exciting result so far. Perhaps some of the staple organizations in SEA should be worried?
Mineski was absent from these qualifiers. They aren’t currently fielding a Dota 2 team, which is unusual.
Next Phase
The next two days will see the DOTA Summit 11 Minor qualifiers play out. Each region will have one attending team, with Europe and CIS having two each. The Minor itself will take place from November 7-10. The MDL Chengdu Major will follow it, on November 16-24. You can catch the remaining qualifier action on Twitch across Beyond the Summit’s various channels.

Aeons before he was recognized as the most dangerous magician alive–an ageless master of the arcane arts–the Invoker endured scholastic life as the adolescent star pupil at an ancient wizard’s academy. Even as he excelled at every task set before him, and basked in the praise such aptitude afforded, the young Invoker dreamt of a future in which he answered to no one but himself, where he might finally be free to wield his growing powers however he saw fit.
Now, harnessing dangerous magics purloined from his headmaster’s secret archives, young Carl has discovered the means to journey forward into his own timeline. Eager to insert himself prematurely into the moment of his greatest triumph, Carl is determined to prove to the world that aged or not, the illustrious arts of the Invoker can be bested by no one. While he’s confident that he’s bound for triumphant adventure, had he read the entire description of the spell before casting it, the young magus would know that failure to accomplish his elder self’s fated mission will result in each timeline’s certain demise.
This item is awarded to players who leveled The International 2019 Battle Pass to 305. It was the first Persona ever made.

Hi guys, i just wanna do some quick research, which Hero do u guys think that have a higher chance of getting rampage in a normal game? tell me 1 for each attribute. heres My list, STR= Timber INT = Warlock AGI = AM
btw, my rampage lists still 0 in 3k hours game :[ (actually i have 2 rampage as warlock but valve didnt count the match )
will dark seer can get 1 alone if he used his first on a cliff and then ulti them
es is another if there was to many units
and meepo have a great chance because of his area nuke
Strength = Probably Sven. Just give him a Crystalis/Daedalus, have all the enemy heroes in one spot and he’ll take care of it. Got a Sven who rampaged in my last game.
Agility = Any farmed carry can easily Rampage. Special mentions would be AM, Medusa and Spectre, since they’re the “hardest” carries in the game.
Intelligence = A lot of Intel heroes can easily rampage if they execute their ult perfectly, though the best hero would probably be OD if the enemy team is filled with STR and AGI heroes.
there is no one hero, any hero can get rampages, I have friends who got rampages as Jugg, Abbadon, Husky. I saw people getting rampages with Slark (damn that game, SK and SD fed Slark 15-0 in 10 minutes), Sven, Luna. Dota 2 wtf enigma rampage clothing I got rampages with TA (well, out of the 3 I had, all were with TA), almost got rampages with WK, QoP and Mirana but a dude decided it’s better if he just ks the last dude because low mmr. (NP tping to ks silencer from my WK who was reincanating, Sniper Assassinating the LS before my Mirana could get close for the last 2 hits and so on. you get the point)

BREAKING NEWS: Russia Withdraws From The Eurovision Song Contest 2017
The controversy regarding the Russian participant in this year’s Eurovision, Yulia Samoylova, started 3 weeks ago. Samoylova was banned from entering Ukraine after the Security Service of Ukraine found that she had illegally travelled to Russian-annexed Crimea. Dota 2 russian song eurovision Today, the Russian broadcaster, Channel One, have withdrawn from the contest.
The broadcaster released a press statement, saying that they refuse to send another singer, or use the EBU’s alternative, for Samoylova to perform via satellite. Read the full statement below:
“Channel One has received a letter from the European Broadcasting Union with the message that the EBU could not resolve the question of participation in Eurovision 2017 for the participant from Russia, Yulia Samoylova. Dota 2 russian song eurovision This EBU report makes reference to the decision of the Ukrainian Security Services.
Channel One finds the Ukrainian refusal completely unreasonable. The reason for it, of course, is Ukraine’s attempt to politicize the contest, whose goal throughout its 62-year history has been to unite people.
The European Broadcasting Union still offers the option of remote participation from Yulia Samoylova or her replacement with another participant. But we have found both options unacceptable.
A remote performance discriminates against the Russian participant and is contrary to the rules and principles of competition. Yulia Samoylova’s replacement with another artist, in our opinion, cannot even be considered.
In this situation, the Channel One does not consider it possible to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.”
Ukrainian Government Reaction
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted the below tweet on Twitter:
#Ukraine provides equal opportunities for all participants in the contest-the only condition, they must respect Ukrainian law #Eurovision2017 pic. twitter. com/aCpF2aq82e
EBU Statement
The EBU have released a statement regarding the Russian withdrawal:
“Sadly both of our proposals have been rejected by Channel One and they have now announced they do not intend to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. These proposals were to either take part via satellite or to change their chosen artist to one who could legally travel to Ukraine for the duration of the Contest. Unfortunately this means Russia will no longer be able to take part in this year’s competition. We very much wanted all 43 countries to be able to participate and did all we could to achieve this.”
Frank Dieter Freiling, Chairman of the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group, the event’s steering committee, said :
“We strongly condemn the Ukrainian authorities’ decision to impose a travel ban on Julia Samoylova as we believe it thoroughly undermines the integrity and non-political nature of the Eurovision Song Contest and its mission to bring all nations together in friendly competition. However, preparations continue apace for the Eurovision Song Contest in the host city Kyiv. Our top priority remains to produce a spectacular Eurovision Song Contest with our Member UA:PBC in May.”
Ukraine To Be Punished?
The EBU have previously stated that they may create sanctions against Ukraine if Russia is unable to participate. However, it is yet to be seen if these are real threats, or if EBU were bluffing.
What do you think of this news? Should Ukraine be punished for this controversy? Tell us in the comments!
Comparing MOBAs: League of Legends vs. Dota 2 vs. Smite vs. Heroes of the Storm
Above: Four games that are similar yet completely different.
Multiplayer online battle arenas (but you can call them MOBAs) continue to dominate gaming. We’re here to help you tell the difference between them.
We actually compared MOBAs before, but things have changed since 2013. A couple of new games have made a large impact, and the two top dogs — League of Legends and Dota 2 — have continued to grow. So, we’ve updated the list with new stats and new games.
First, let’s talk about what makes a MOBA a MOBA. Traditionally, they involve two teams of five players, each controlling a hero with unique abilities, that battle on a map with three lanes, a jungle between the lanes, A. I. minions that march across those lanes, and turrets and other defenses that each team has to destroy. You win by annihilating a giant structure in the middle of the other team’s base.
The genre actually started as a series of mods for Blizzard real-time strategy games Starcraft and Warcraft III, with Defense of the Ancients on the latter being the most popular. You can learn more about the history of MOBAs here.
Now, we’re going to start comparing the four most notable MOBAs. We’ll start with a chart, and then we’ll talk a bit about each game below.
League of Legends
Above: Welcome to the League of Legends jungle.
All hail the MOBA king. League of Legends was one of the first standalone MOBAs, and it was able to transform the spirit of the original mods into a free-to-play money-maker. While it has faced plenty of competition, none have knocked it out of the No. 1 spot.
League of Legends got rid of some of the complexities of Defense of the Ancients (the mod for the real-time strategy game Warcraft III that all MOBAs grew out from), notably the capability for players to deny the other team experience and gold by killing their own minions. It also continued to add a steady stream of new heroes, and right now it has a gigantic roster of 126. It has added different maps and modes besides the traditional three-laned MOBA standard, but the original still remains by far the most popular
Dota 2
Above: Dota 2 is more than a game — it’s a lifestyle.
While League of Legends made some changes from Defense of the Ancients, Dota 2 is a pretty faithful update of the original mod. It features the same mechanics and even most of the same heroes. It’s the most technical of the four, so it’s probably not a great place to start if you have no experience with MOBAs.
While League of Legends experimented with alternative maps and game modes, Dota 2 is strictly about playing on the same field of three lanes between two bases. However, developer Valve has recently allowed the modding community to create custom games using Dota 2’s assets, so we’re going to see all kind of wacky variants now.
Smite
Above: Can you handle a MOBA from the adventure genre’s third person perspective?
The biggest difference with Smite is its perspective. While most MOBAs have an isometric, top-down view (a carryover from its real-time strategy origins), Smite is a third-person game. This allows for most of the abilities to require aiming, which can make the experience feel more frenzied and dependent on player skill. Also, while most MOBAs have a purely fantasy setting (another carryover from Warcraft III), Smite bases all of its playable characters after gods from different myothologies.
Smite is also one of the few MOBAs to come to consoles, with an Xbox One version currently in beta. Wow vs dota 2 The third-person experience makes a lot more sense for a controller than the traditional, mouse-dependent top-down view. Smite offers a $30 bundle that gives you all playable characters present and future.
Heroes of the Storm
Above: Blizzard heroes duking it out.
The newest kid on the block, Heroes of the Storm is the most casual MOBA on this list. Unlike the other three, it doesn’t have an in-game shop that requires you to buy and use items during play. It also has teams leveling up together, instead of heroes earning their own experience. This can prevent players, especially poor ones, from becoming quickly outclassed in a match.
Also, each Heroes of the Storm map — while retaining the traditional MOBA objective to destroy the other team’s base — has an additional goal that can help your team. One map has you collecting gold coins to turn into a ghost pirate, who then shoots cannons at the other team’s buildings once you meet its price. Another spawns tokens around the map, and getting three of them curses the other team, weakening their minions and structures. These objectives make team fights break out much earlier than in traditional MOBAs. Heroes of the Storm is also something like Blizzard’s take on Super Smash Bros., in that its roster includes characters from all of its franchises.
Lina, the Slayer, is a ranged Intelligence hero, adept at destroying enemy heroes quickly by delivering massive bursts of magical damage, making her one of the most effective gankers in the game. She possesses immense damaging capabilities all throughout the game, but is very fragile. Two of her fiery spells are her main source of damage, Dragon Slave sends a wave of fire to burn enemies in her path while Light Strike Array stuns them with a concentrated pillar of solar flame. Each of her spells deals great damage early on and has a low cooldown. Her Fiery Soul bolsters her attack and movement speed every time she casts a spell, which gives her scaling damage for the later game. Laguna Blade, her ultimate, is her ace in the hole. Lina fires off a huge bolt of lightning at a single target, dealing colossal damage. Laguna Blade’s damage is staggering in early-mid game, and late game is still enough to destroy frail enemy heroes. Dragon Slave, Light Strike Array, and Laguna Blade are incredible flaming nukes that can incinerate her target instantly, and Fiery Soul allows her to transition into a strong and fast physical attacker. Though her power falls from its peak late game, mana-boosting and damage-increasing items can be purchased to keep herself up.

Dragon Slave travels at a speed of 1200, taking 0.9 ( 0.98) seconds to travel the full distance.
Can hit units up to 1275 ( 1375) range away (travel distance + end radius).
The complete area is shaped like a cone.
Light Strike Array destroys trees within the affected radius.
Light Strike Array first applies the debuff, then the damage.
The visual effects and the sound during the 0.5 second effect delay are only visible and audible to allies.
Lina has two different animations for this spell, leading to two possible cast backswing durations.
Using items does not trigger Fiery Soul.
Each spell cast refreshes the duration of the whole stack, making it theoretically possible to permanently have max stacks on.
At 2 stacks the buff grants 10%/12%/14%/16% ( 14%/16%/18%/20%) movement speed and 80/110/140/170 ( 140/170/200/230) attack speed.
At 3 stacks the buff grants 15%/18%/21%/24% ( 21%/24%/27%/30%) movement speed and 120/165/210/255 ( 210/255/300/345) attack speed.
Places a debuff on the target, which applies the damage upon expiring. The debuff lasts 0.25 seconds.
This means the spell can be avoided by being invulnerable or hidden (or spell immune when not upgraded) as the debuff expires.

Eul’s Scepter of Divinity enhances Lina’s positioning even further and greatly boosts her mana-regeneration because of her high base Intelligence and Intelligence gain. It can also be used to set up Light Strike Array fairly reliably.
Blink Dagger gives Lina the ability to stay back in safety, then blink in at an opportune moment to cast her Light Strike Array before the enemy can see it coming and evade it.

Rod of Atos prov >Octarine Core ‘s lifesteal gives more survival potential in teamfights. Also, it gives a huge intelligence boost, as well as a greater ability to spam spells.
Ethereal Blade is a decent luxury item if the farm is available. It allows Lina to amplify her magical nukes, and slows enemies to help her land them. Using the active on herself is also a good escape mechanism against late game carries.
