MID OR FEED

Welcome to the Midlane, where you suck and your opponent is amazing. Get used to it. We are gonna sit down here and talk about how to be a better mid-laner, because let’s be honest fellow Mid-laners we have a bad rep. We are seen as arrogant, cocky, unwilling to teamfight, split pushers and solo-yolo killers, Sumail-like. The truth of the matter is that we are not Sumail. So while he can get away with bullying his opponent back to the tier 3, we should never do this. So what is the first lesson learned? You are not that good. This is okay, because everyone else in your game is also not that good. Let’s hold off on the other lessons and get an understanding of what the Mid-lane is. Welcome to our DotA 2 mid lane guide.

Mid-Lane

This is at its basic, the lane in the middle of the map. Mid lane. Strategically this can allow you as a mid-laner to rotate easily to either lane; get help from either of your lanes for ganks; or get ganked by the enemy team just as easily.

Typically, mid lane is a solo match up, you vs some other arrogant DOTA 2 player trying to show off. Is that a $400 Invoker set on the enemy team? GG. Being a solo match up means you can either win big, or lose big. This is a lane where technical skills are needed. If you are good at last hitting and denial, you can have an excellent early game in the mid lane.

Mid also has the advantage of having power runes spawn every two minutes near you, giving you a boost if you can get to the rune before your enemy. These runes can either double your damage, regen your heros mana and health fully or make you invisible so that you can sneak up on an unsuspecting foe. All very useful. However this is just the basics of the mid lane. Win the last hits/denys, get the runes and you win the lane right? Wrong.

Roles

This lane is varied in its approaches. Some players believe that to win the lane, they must take the tower first. This works with some heroes like Death Prophet, Invoker (Wex, Exort), Drow, and Shadow Fiend. Or you can win the lane by bullying the opponent out, creating such a uninviting atmosphere that they leave the lane to you alone, Huskar, Templar Assassin, and Viper just to name a few that fill this role. Finally there is the playstyle where you just try to survive until your hero becomes useful. Typically you see Storm Spirit, Alchemist or Tinker in this role, heroes that once they hit a certain level can start to snowball into crazy train.

Let’s break these roles down.

Push Strat

Here the focus is on taking down the enemy creeps as fast as possible so that your wave can get into the enemy tower where you can focus on hitting that Tier 1 tower. Towers have no regeneration capability, unless there is a Treant in the game, so every spot of damage you put on the tower will stay, and eventually you will take it down. Taking the tower gives your team a gold advantage as well as making it more difficult for the enemy team to rotate around the map.

First objective is to kill the enemy ranged creep. This guy does a good amount of damage standing in the background keeping the lane pushed. If you kill him first, your lane will automatically push towards the enemy tower. Next objective, creep pull. Draw aggression from the enemy creep by right clicking the enemy hero while you are near the creep. This will draw them towards you, stopping them from attacking your creep all the while your creep and you are killing them. This will push you under the tower, allowing you to get some damage in. Be careful though, as you still want to be getting last hits/denys in the lane. Deny’s are extremely important as you can gain an experience advantage over the enemy hero.

Bully

This is a very aggressive play style, big risk and big reward. You can be called a feeder, noob, and lets just say many other unfriendly terms in this play style. Yet if it works, it destroys the enemy, making one of their hero obsolete, and possibly forcing the enemy to rotate to kill you. If you want to see how this is done in a pro setting, watch Sumail, he is the best at it – he’s just a big mid lane bully.

Some key concepts for this style is to generally ignore the creep until they are in perfect last hitting/deny range. Do not draw aggro when going for the enemy hero. Instead click the ground to move towards them until you are in range to attack, of course if you have a orb attack skill like Drow’s frost arrows or Huskar’s burning spear these abilities do not draw aggro when used. Your objective is to deal damage to the enemy hero, make them have a difficult time in lane, all the while you are taking a calculated amount of damage.

For this role you will want to be a courier hog. I have seen a decent Viper player courier out 10 salves in the first 5 minutes of the game, just so that he never leaves and can always be harassing the enemy. It works, but it gets frustrating when you are in another lane wondering where on earth any of your items are. Make the enemy weep.

Stay Alive

This is a pretty boring style of play. Meant for a team composition that will give you the time to get to where you need. You want to stay alive in the lane. Deny’s are key for this style. You want to deny the enemy any advantage you can as they know there is nothing you can do to them in lane. An alchemist bullying anyone before level 6? It should not happen. Tinker can maybe inflict some damage but cannot kill you until level 5. If you are playing as one of these heroes work on your last hits/denys as they are fundamental to giving you some sort of impact once your hero comes online.

Conclusion

All of these play styles aside there are a few rules to remember when Mid, and the takeaway from our DotA 2 mid lane guide:

  1. Don’t be a jerk
  2. You are only as good as the rest of your team unless you are playing down 2 full ranks
  3. Mid is not the most important role, but you can be, learn your place do not force it
  4. Teamwork makes the Dream Work

Hotkeys

The hotkeys settings can be accessed by clicking on the little gear icon in the most top left corner in the main menu. Here, the player can customize many hotkeys, or select one of the many pre-set hotkey templates. Almost every key on the keyboard can be bound to something, with a very few exceptions. The exceptions usually have a set purpose in the game and thus are un-rebindable.

Contents

Unbindable keys [ edit ]

Several hotkeys have a set purpose, which cannot be changed. This results in them mostly being un-rebindable.

  • The following keys are completely unbindable: ESC, SHIFT (left and right), CTRL (left and right), MOUSE 1, MOUSE 2
  • The ALT key can only bound together with other keys, as a combo key. The ALTGR key is treated as the same key.
    • Although the ALT modifier can be bound to another key, ALT is still unbindable. When the modifier gets rebound, ALT has no use.
  • The WINDOWS KEY (left and right) (or COMMAND KEY on Apple keyboards) are unbindable, but they can be turned bindable in the advanced hotkey settings. These keys keep their default function, which is opening the start menu on the desktop. This is true even when the keys get bound ingame.
  • The PRINT KEY is fully bindable, but it also keeps its default function, which is to take screenshots.
  • The following keys are bindable on their own, but cannot be combined with ALT: PRINT KEY, TAB
  • All other standard keys are bindable.

Basic hotkeys [ edit ]

Basic hotkeys are active while playing a match. The player can change the hotkeys at any time, even during a match. There are hotkeys for abilities, items, unit actions, shop actions, chat, interface and control groups. In the advanced hotkeys, there are additional settings for unit actions, shop actions, interface and control groups, and the hotkeys for camera actions, saved camera positions and some hotkey setting options.

Hotkey templates [ edit ]

By default, the game uses the “Arrow (Default)” hotkey layout. The player can choose from a variety of pre-set hotkey templates, which can be found by clicking on “Reset hotkeys. ” at the bottom left of the settings menu. Available templates are:

Template Description
Arrow (Default) Dota 2 default hotkeys.
WASD Dota 2 default hotkeys, adapted for using W, A, S and D for camera movement.
Legacy Keys Dota 1 style hotkeys; with different ability hotkeys for every hero and unit. 1
MMO Key bindings similar to various Massively Multiplayer Online games.
League of Legends Key bindings similar to League of Legends.
Heroes of Newerth Key bindings similar to Heroes of Newerth.
Smite Key bindings similar to Smite.

1 Legacy keys can also be enabled by ticking the corresponding option in the Advanced Hotkeys settings, rather than starting over with this template.

Activating a template unbinds all hotkeys used in it from their existing actions. Hotkeys can still be changed freely after selecting a template, except Legacy Keys’ item hotkeys.

Abilities [ edit ]

There are 6 ability slots which can be used. If one slot is empty and contains no ability, it is not visible in-game, and all abilities coming after it are moved together. For example, if a unit has an ability in slot 1 and 3, but no ability in slot 2, then the 2nd slot is not visible and the 3rd ability is moved next to the 1st ability, so that there is no gap. However, the slots are still bound according to the settings. Despite the 3rd slot being moved to remove the gap, its hotkey is still equal to whatever is set for the 3rd slot in the ability hotkey settings.

Heroes usually have 3 abilities in their first 3 slots, and their ultimate always in the 6 slot. This causes the ultimate spell to always use whatever hotkey is set for the 6th slot, despite the ultimate visually appearing in the 4th slot. This is why the hotkey of the 4th ability on non-hero units is not equal to the hotkey of ultimate abilities. The non-hero unit has 4 abilities in its 4 slots and has the 5th and 6th slot empty, so they are not displayed. If its 4th ability would be moved to the 6th slot, it would make visually no difference, but change its hotkey to what is set in the 6th slot.

By default, the ability hotkeys apply to every unit the player controls. It is possible though, to bind different hotkeys to heroes, couriers and other units by turning “Unit Specific Hotkeys” on. It is also possible to bind unique hotkeys for each hero, however, this is not possible for other units. Clicking on “Clear” after having given non-hero units, couriers or an individual hero unique settings, sets the hotkeys back to what the player set as default.

The player can choose between regular cast (select spell and then select target) and quickcast (select spell and automatically cast it where the cursor is). Autocast is by default ALT+ability hotkey. It is possible to choose between regular and quickcast for couriers, non-heroes and for each hero, just like how unique bindings are possible. If the player wishes to use regular and quickcast, or wants to use different autocast hotkeys, the “Enable Advanced Quickcast/Autocast Hotkeys” setting can be turned on, which allows setting different hotkeys for regular, quick – and autocast for each slot. This also works together with unit specific hotkeys. However, advanced quickcast/autocast hotkeys is not compatible with legacy hotkeys. Here, the player can only decide between regular and quickcast, and autocast is always ALT+hotkey.

Biography [ edit ]

KuroKy currently grew up in Berlin, Germany. [1] KuroKy suffered from disabilities to his legs, and would struggle to use his legs. He stated that this weakness was what led to him to play video games.

DotA [ edit ]

KuroKy played for a few German DotA teams before joining his first international team, mousesports, where he played with players such as Drayich. This mousesports lineup attended DreamHack Winter 2008 with Puppey acting as stand-in; this was to be the beginning of a long relationship between KuroKy and Puppey. KuroKy then joined Ks. int, which at one point had a total number of 9 players and looked more like a mix than an actual team. Some well known players in the DotA scene were on the team, such as Puppey, Vigoss and LevenT.

Dota 2 [ edit ]

2011 – 2012: Early Days [ edit ]

KuroKy’s first public appearance in Dota 2 was The International 2011 along with the game’s debut at Gamescom. He participated in the tournament under GosuGamers. net with teammates Kebap, Azen, and Mirakel. Unfortunately for them, they dropped all three group stage games and were eliminated by MiTH. Trust in the first round of the losers’ bracket.

After the unsuccessful run at The International, KuroKy went on to play in several other teams with him as the star player; the teams included PANZER and 10,000th, which were also jokingly called KKy + 4. In May 2012, he joined Virtus. pro in the hopes to qualify for a spot to play at The International 2012. [2] They won their first round match of the West Qualifiers against mTw but were eventually eliminated by mousesports and zNation. However, he got his chance to play at The International 2012 when ComeWithMe ran into visa issues and mousesports invited KuroKy to the event in his place. A stroke of luck for KuroKy and the other mouz players happened when MUFC ran into visa issues and could not make it to Seattle, leaving an extra spot for the backup teams. mouz played a best of five series against World Elite to determine who would replace MUFC in the main tournament and they took the wildcard match handedly with a 3-0 score. The main tournament itself was not a success for KuroKy as he was knocked out in the first round of the playoffs and could not improve upon his results from The International 2011.

KuroKy joined mousesports on September 16 as a temporary member, along with Alex and Kebap, to fill their roster for SLTV Star Series Season 3. [3]

2013 – 2014: Natus Vincere [ edit ]

After a short and well received stay at Mousesports, KuroKy joined Natus Vincere on February 28, 2013 as their support player alongs >[4] His first year on Na’Vi was very successful with many first place finishes and a second place finish at The International 2013. However, the second half of his Na’Vi career was largely disappointing and culminated in a 7-8th place finish at The International 2014. He left Na`Vi on August 18, 2014. [5]

2014 – 2015: Team Secret [ edit ]

Following his departure, it was revealed on August 27th, 2014 that he was on the roster for Secret Team, a team he formed with Puppey. Joining this duo were friends and former teammates on Fnatic Fly and N0tail as well as s4 from Alliance. KuroKy initially played the carry position for the newly formed Team Secret but success eluded the team as their best result was a second place finish at Star Ladder. A roster shuffle took place, swapping Fly and N0tail for Arteezy and zai from Evil Geniuses resulted in KuroKy returning to the support position alongside Puppey once again. This new Team Secret roster was more successful than the previous and, having won 4 consecutive LAN finals, they approached The International 2015 as heavy favorites. However, Team Secret exited the tournament surprisingly early to a disappointing 7-8th place finish amidst severe internal issues.

2015 and onwards: Team Liquid [ edit ]

Following TI 5 KuroKy left Team Secret to form a new team, 5Jungz, with himself as captain, where he handpicked his teammates: fellow German FATA – would play m >[6] . Team Liqu >[7] The pulsating series at the Russian capital over the course of a week saw KuroKy and his fellow team mates secure their maiden LAN win of the 2016 calendar year. At the Manila Major, Team Liquid was once again able to reach the grand finals, but finished as runners up once again, this time falling to OG. KuroKy was tied with 343 for the highest number of different heroes played at the event. Unsurprisingly, Team Liquid was invited to attend The International 2016, however another disappointingly early exit would be in store for KuroKy.

In the wake of TI6, FATA – and JerAx would leave the team and their replacements were BuLba, from Evil Geniuses, and Miracle-, from rivals OG. The new competitive season saw Team Liqu >[8] , in August 2017. After attending every single TI, KuroKy had finally done it and hoisted the Aegis after a 3-0 sweep against Newbee in the Grand Finals.

DoTA 2 Skins and Cosmetic Items Explained

What are Dota2 skins and how do they improve your gaming experience? Where can you find great Dota2 skins? How much do they cost?

As a regular Dota 2 player, you’re probably up to date with what skins are, what they are used for, and what they can do during the game. But if you are just getting started with Dota 2, or you simply want to find out more about Dota 2 skins, then this article is definitely for you.

Items versus Skins

Just like Counter Strike, Team Fortress, or Warframe, you can also purchase items and skins for Dota 2.

There are 2 types of items: cosmetic items and power boosting items. Skins are part of the first category, as they have a purely visually enhancing role; skins do not affect the abilities and powers of Heroes.

Did you know? Contributions to Dota 2’s development consistently come from sources outside the main development team.

What are power boosting items? They give Heroes enhanced abilities and functions so they can perform better during a battle. Power/Ability enhancing items are not tied to a particular Hero, therefore you must pay increased attention when choosing your items. Some items won’t work on some Heroes, while other items can be combined for improved results. In short, these items provide additional benefits to Heroes that the leveling up process cannot.

Tip: A Hero can have a maximum of 6 items in his Inventory, and a maximum of 6 items in his Stash. If you get more items, they will be automatically dropped in the fountain.

Dota 2 Skins You Can’t Miss

There are a lot of skins to choose from in Dota 2. This is part of the game’s charm, and a lot of players go above and beyond to personalize their Dota 2 experience. Skins don’t interfere with the mechanics of the game, they are purely decorative.

Did you know? You can buy user-created skins in the Steam Workshop. They are only put out for sale if they have been approved by Valve.

1. Equipment Skins

This skins type is used to change the way a Hero looks, from their clothes to the way their weapons are designed. While these skins do not alter the Heroes’ powers, they can definitely give your hero a fiercer look.

You can choose from:

Cosmetic Items by Hero. Click on the image to enlarge.

2. Couriers

As the name suggests, the Couriers are items that take the form of a donkey / flying donkey. Their main responsibility is to carry your items to and from your base. Animal Couriers and Flying Couriers are considered Consumable Items.

You can also customize your courier in the loadout screen. You can equip the Couriers with specific visual elements. Once again, these elements do not influence the way the Courier performs. However, there are some Unusual Couriers which come with a special effect. The effect can be either Ethereal Gem or Prismatic Gem.

Custom Couriers are classified in 5 categories: Rare, Mythical, Legendary, Immortal, Ancient.

3. Announcers

This collection of cosmetic items is a bit different, because it does not change the way a Hero or a player looks. What it does is it changes the voice of the Announcer with explosive commentaries, unruly humor, or a drunken Pirate Captain. There are a lot of Announcers items to choose from – can you decide which voice is your favourite?

4. Custom Wards

Are you getting bored with the way your wards look? With Custom Wards you can change the appearance of your Observer Wards and Sentry Wards.

Did you know? Items such as skins are the main source of income for Dota2. Creators selling their items on the Steam Market receive a percentage of sales. In 2013 the income for an average contributor was $15k per year.

5. HUD Skins

This skins category is a bit special, as it allows you to change how the heads up display looks. What’s even better about this skins category is that it can be equipped by other players in the same match.

There are more DoTA 2 skins that invite you to fully personalise your gaming experience:

  • Music
  • Emoticons
  • Mouse cursors
  • Weather effects
  • Blink effects
  • Teleport effects
  • Custom base items
  • Taunta

Skin Categories: Rarity & Quality

Items and skins in Dota2 are usually categorized into Rarity. The rarer the item, the more valuable it is. Some players spend a lot of money on their items; there are even Dota 2 skins that cost a big-ticket. Depending on their rarity, items are classified as:

As mentioned before, you can buy and sell skins and items forDota 2 in the Steam Market. The Steam Market also commercializes items for Counter Strike, Primal Carnage, Warframe, Team Fortress, The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, Robot Roller, and more. The Dota2 skins you purchase from Store. SteamPowered. com cannot be re-sold earlier than 1 week from the moment of the purchase.

When you make your first purchase in the market you will pay real money. After that, as you earn more money, you will be allowed to use it to purchase other items or skins. You cannot withdraw your money to your card or use it in any way other than buying and selling on the Steam Market.

This is one great drawback of the Steam Market system, because the money you earn stays on the website, whether you are an Items Creator or an Items Buyer.

I have already made one League of Legends character, Vayne, that i really love and i think she suits me. I would like to make as mayn different characters form as many different games i can, but i somehow tend to like the League of Legends characters the most. And I am not the only one. There is a lot more LoL cosplayers than Dota 2 cosplayers (not only) in CZ&SK. Why is it so? Let´s take a look:

Heroes vs. Champions

Customization Preview
New Lines and Modified Existing Lines
It´s more attractive to cosplay a sexy women than a dwarf creature

There are many similarities between a lot fo champions and heroes, but this is for another entry. Now I want to take a look on why are the LoL characters so much more cosplay-attractive. So we start by pure numbers:

1) Number of characters

League of Legends has 124 champions, Dota 2 has 110 champions: As a cosplayer you want to choose a character, that fits you well. Both games offer a wide spread of different characters to choose from, so it is a little better selection in LoL.

2) Number of female characters

League of Legends has 37 female characters, Dota 2 has only 15 female characters. As a female cosplayers, I want to choose primary from female character, than make a crossplay (I´m not really a fan of crossplay myself). And it´s true, that in League of Legends, there is a lot more female characters to choose from (I don´t count Rek´Sai and similar “females”). (Hope I counted well – 05/2015)

3) Number of human-like and non human-like characters

I´ve made a little overview of Dota 2 and League of Legends characters on the end of this entry. I´ve divided heroes and champs into groups and if you look into groups non-human like and human-like, League of Legends has about 45 champions in both categories, so it´s much easiers to pick a character, that looks like a human and doesn´t need any prosthetics and other stuff, than in Dota 2, where we find only about 15 characters in human-like category and about 80 heroes in non human-like category.

4) Difficulty of cosplays

Look into the overview once more. There are two categories, that count characters, that need mounts or wings construction. In Dota 2, there are much more characters with mounts and wings than in League of Legends. So it´s pretty hard to choose a character in Dota 2 if you´re afraid of making wing construction or don´t know how to make a mount.

There are a lot of heroes on mounts in Dota 2
Sejuani cosplay by Britthebadger

The mount is always a problem, even in League of Legends, but take a look on this LoL cosplay example on the pictures above. The pictures are a cosplay of Sejuani by Britthebadger. She´s really the first cosplayer I´ve seen on a real man made mount, that was in fact a big fur costume for a person. But if you don´t have money/friend/skill to make yourself a real mount, you can make a baby of your mount from a fur (like she did too), or go without a mount (that´s a pitty, but sometimes there´s no other chance).

Luna cosplay by Desireeska on a statue and Keeper of the Light cosplay by Lumi on a real horse

On the second picture, there are two Dota 2 cosplays, Luna by Desireeska and Keeper of the Light by Lumi. Luna has found a great spot to take picture of her: on a statue of a lion and Lumi took it to the next level: he made his cosplay complete by taking a real horse on a photoshoot.

Second problem could be the non-human/half-human characters. It´s a real challenge to make a hero like Lifestealer with a lot of teeth all over his face, or a hero like enchantress with half her body human and half of her body deer, But take a look on these pictures, where you can see some examplest of solving this problem. First there is a cosplay of Enchantress by day4off, but the picture shows only her upper body and the cosplayer didn´t have to solve the problem with deer body. Next to this awesome cosplay, there is a real original deer body for Enchantress. Next examples are from League of Legends. Nami by Pizoobie solved her problem with her fish tail by designing original dress with bottom part looking like water and hiding her legs. Jadefang Cassiopeia by Lady Misterya made her prosthetic tail as a combinantion of her sewing and crafting skills. It´s half a dress and half a moving marionette.

5) Item sets vs. skins

There´s a big difference in customizing your characters between both games.
In Dota 2 you can choose from lots of different item sets and change your heroes hair, weapon, mount, dress, or even tattoos separately. The item sets are just bundles of items, that fit together. The items approved for use in game respect the nature of each hero and have to respect the color scheme of the hero. In most cases, they lack animations. You can preview your hero in game andy equip him in in-game armory. From the view of a cosplayer, the item sets represent an aspect of free will (you can pick from a lot of combinations and a lot of items), but even the item sets could be very beautiful, they are all approximatelly the same challenge, the same level of difficulty, so there´s no way both beginner cosplayer and a master cosplayer would both choose this as a cosplay plan.
In League of Legends you can buy only skins for your champion, that change the whole outfit and appearance of your champion. The skins don´t respect any codex of the character, so you can one champion dressed as a bunny, zombie, witch, football player, basketball player, pirate or a soldier. These interesting and funny skins attract more players into the game and into the cosplaying the characters. Furthermore the skins are differently complicated for a cosplayer to make. There are really complex skins, that are hard to make and are a challenge even for an experienced cosplayer and there are skins that are quite easy to make and are good for beginner cosplayers (Bilgewater Katarina vs. Red Card Katarina). One difficulty is with splasharts, because skins are only available to buy by viewing a splashart picture made by an artist. Sometimes, the splashart picture doesn´t 100% resemble the skin in game and that could cause some difficulties by cosplaying.

The Old and the New: LGD and EHOME’s chances for the Shanghai Major

In the last year, there is no denying that the Chinese Dota 2 scene has failed to live up to the expectations of fans. Chinese teams have consistently reached the top 5 of tournaments but failed to win any championships, , with the exception of the recent Mars Dota League. Their showing in the Frankfurt Major was especially poor, with no team even breaching the top 3 places. Their performance has raised many questions regarding the state of the Chinese professional scene, disheartening many fans.

With the upcoming Shanghai Major, there is an opportunity for the Chinese players to redeem themselves after over a year of slumber. With many younger players entering the scene, as well as old veterans rediscovering their motivation, their chances on the home turf are at its highest. Will the East vs. West confrontation reach its former heights? And who is going to lead the battle to reclaim their home title?

EHOME

The squad under the legendary brand, led by the legendary coach 71, is deceptively lacking in the star-players department. Deceptively, because all of the young players on the team are in no way weaker than their Western counterparts—they simply never received the same amount of exposure. ELeVen, old chicken and Kaka may have been in the “big” e-sports significantly less than most other players, but they certainly don’t need to prove anything—the 3:0 sweep vs EG in MDL grand finals speaks for itself.

LaNm has also proven himself as a great captain and a mentor to the younger generation of Dota 2 players. Unlike most Chinese captains, he is ready to experiment and is a lot less meta-dependant—something that can go a long way in the versatility-friendly 6.86 patch.

Finally, there is Cty—the ”6-minute God”. Unlike other young players on his team, he has a lot of experience and it certainly shows—the progress made by Cty in the last couple of years is very impressive. From a mechanically gifted player, who was extremely prone to unnecessary aggression and lack of teamplay, he has since evolved into a player who is disciplined, patient and calculated.

from left to right: LaNm, CTY, kaka, old eLeVeN, old chicken

For the first time in the current roster’s history, the team comes into this major as one of the favorites—they have proved themselves in home tournaments, handily beating other Chinese teams in smaller tournaments, as well as internationally, when they won MDL. Their win rate in the last month is nothing but impressive at 71.43%—all of which comes from battling top tier teams.

Their record against top Western teams in 6.86 is something that can give a lot of hope to the Chinese fans. EHOME has beaten EG twice, in bo3 and bo5 formats, with a total of five victories and only one loss. They have also beaten OG in bo3, for a total of 2:1, and have tied with Team Secret in the MDL group stage.

The team is yet to face [A]lliance, Team Liquid or any of the CIS/Ukrainian teams. Of these teams, [A]lliance probably has the highest chance of upsetting EHOME, since it is most likely to require a specific approach. That is not to say that all other teams are a guaranteed win, but EHOME does look stronger both in terms of personal skill and team play.

Overall, with the exception of surprises the team might face, it should do extremely well, and given at least a bo3 format in almost all stages of the tournament, even the surprises can be mitigated. EHOME, once the most feared brand in the Dota scene, has finally been resurrected after 4 years of almost complete irrelevance.

It is never a good idea to discredit LGD. With a combined high-level Dota total experience of over 20 years, LGD is a well-oiled machine. The players on this team have faced pretty much every fathomable situation. When in a dire situation, they do not have to think what to do—they know what to do. And this is their biggest strength and weakness.

Dota has been evolving rapidly over the course of several last years—there were new items, new heroes and hero reworks, as well as constant changes. For the older players it can be hard to keep up, and this is the reason we have seen new teams from different regions perform so well, despite lack of experience—they do not come into the game with inflexible expectations and are generally quicker to adapt on-the-go.

For a detailed analysis of players and strategies the team uses, it is better to look at an existing profile—the team has not changed since the Frankfurt Major. Their general strategy has remained relatively unchanged, still with a strong focus on tempo and an even larger one on teamfight ability—only now it is Maybe who is controlling the tempo, rather than Sylar.

Going into this tournament, LGD looks less impressive than EHOME, but they certainly have more experience in 6.86 and have faced a bigger variety of enemies. Their total win rate for 6.86 is 65% across 57 games. It is worth noting, however, that many of these victories came from playing much weaker teams, which could be a cause for concern.

Playing against good Western teams comes somewhat harder for LGD. In fact, they are more likely to lose against them, with one interesting trend giving quite a bit of hope: even if they lose, they almost always take at least one game from the enemy. They have gone 2:3 vs [A] in the WCA grand finals, have taken at least one game off EG in MDL play-offs and have even won a bo1 off them. And they consistently beat CIS/Ukrainian teams. The only opponent this team is yet to beat is OG.

With all that information, it is extremely unlikely anything is going to surprise LGD at the event. They know their enemies very well, they learned their lessons playing against [A] and they have studied EG a little bit more. They will watch through every game of OG and Team Liquid and take notes. They will do their homework and while their performance in the tournament has a lot more conditions to become successful, it is never a good idea to discredit LGD.

Final Thoughts

It is a popular opinion now that the Chinese Dota has been on a decline. After all, no one remembers who came in second. Statistics for the past year-and-a-half suggests that the idea is greatly exaggerated, however. Moreover, most recent events show that there are still strong competitors in the region, and they are ready to go toe-to-toe against top Western teams.

Not only are there significantly more experienced players in China, compared to other regions, but there are also a lot of younger talents, who might lack exposure and fame, but certainly do not lack skill. The Shanghai Major can be an excellent proving ground for these younger players and will temper them for TI6.

DOTA 2 Cheats, DotA 2 Farming Bots

DOTA 2 Cheats,
The cheats at DOTA 2 are as simple as they can be, and they are used for little things like gold or items. Also you can increase your Battle Points for the use of buying new skins for Characters of the game. There are cheats that you can simple write the command and it is done. But there also cheats that they need a special program that it helps it to activate the cheat. You need something like a console to activate the cheat. One of them is the Spawn Year Beast in game cheat. You need a cheat console to make that happen. One more thing, the cheats are going to work only for the items that exist on the server your account is. Since this is one of the most fair free to play games, there is really no need to grind out the game outside of getting more Battle Points (BP) in order to get cooler skins. Most cheats focus on improving ones performance and get to higher ranks of play easier. So most cheating tools are focused at either buying items automatically, helping you to last hit and kill enemies easily. However, since this game is unbelievably fair and does not force you to spend any more money or time than you wild like to spare, we recommend that you do not cheat in this game in order to repay it for its fairness towards players. Also there are obviously no cheat codes in this game, since cheating is not an intended part of the game.

DOTA 2 Scripts / Macros
The bots at DOTA 2 are the hacks that helps you get the last hit and to kill enemies with one simple hit. Also they take the control of your character and they do things that it takes you a lot time so it saves you the “headache”. Imagine it like you are in the game but you are not at the pc at that moment. Bots can be programmed to do anything that it takes to automize your game experience. Bot can easily produce you gold in no time and also a lot. In addition, Bots can buy/sell the items you need to be stronger from the enemies automatically. There are a lot of bot types. One of them is the Steam DOTA 2 trading house bot.

DotA 2 Farming Bots
Bots in DotA 2 are used to automate certain aspects of the game, such as last hitting minions. Obviously last hitting in this game is not only really, really integral to success, but also quite hard to do effectively. Same goes for denying creeps. So at the higher levels of play bots have been made to work with specific champions in order to be able to auto-last hit or auto-deny creeps. – These bots are quite hard to come by, since they are unbelievably powerful and will allow you to easily move up the ranks in DotA2. Bots are also used to unleash spell combinations and kill enemies instantly at the press of one single button. – Again these bots are custom made for certain champions and very, very hard to come by. Auto buying bots will buy items for you automatically, call tem to you through your carrier and automatically equip them. You can find these kinds of bots more easily, since they are not quite as overpowered.

DOTA 2 Hacks
Hacks are pieces made by code. These pieces intrude inside the client of the game code and edit the way that the game works or adds some certain functionalities to make your game experience a little bit easier. Hacks give you the freedom that the original game doesn’t. In DOTA 2, there are hacks which they give you big amount of gold (like 99999), others which with one hit the enemy dies and you have unlimited life. Also there are hacks that increase your critical hit and predict last hits. In addition there are hacks which steal any Ultimate you want. One of them is called “Grand Theft Auto” (No relationship with the game series). There are also hacks which show you where the enemy skills are headed to. One of this type hacks is called “Show Mirana Arrow” and it provides you a visual indication as where Mirana’s arrow is headed.

[Fixed] Camera zoom bug with “dota_camera_lock”

I have a config script that adds a keybind that toggles dota_camera_lock on while held and off when released, and I’ve found some bugs with the command from constantly toggling it on and off.
If the camera is left on a low area of terrain, such as the river, and then dota_camera_lock is toggled on while the player is on higher ground, the camera will focus closer on the player. Pressing the mouse against the edge of the screen while dota_camera_lock is still on will push the zoom back to the proper distance.

This also works the other way around, meaning it’d be possible for players to abuse this and get the camera zoomed out further than intended.

The camera can also be zoomed out EXTREMELY far by having the camera lock toggled on and dragging up and down on the minimap, and it’ll stay where you leave it as long as you don’t edge pan.

Last edited by Yakkers; 07-08-2013 at 06:03 PM .

I can confirm that, have binds too, some issue.

Bumping this for importance. THIS CAN EASILY BE USED TO CHEAT.
If you center the camera over a high terrain area, such as one of the god ward spots, and then toggle the dota_camera_lock on and then off, the camera will stay significantly zoomed out (even while edge panning) until it is snapped elsewhere.

This really is a crucial bug, it deals with a core part of the engine so it shouldn’t still be here after all these updates.
I encourage everyone to try it out and see how easy it is to create and how problematic it could be towards balance.

Last edited by Yakkers; 12-31-2012 at 01:40 PM .

Let’s talk about dota_camera_lock.

dota_camera_lock “1” is a console bindable command that’ll hard snap the camera to whatever unit you’re controlling, without the smoothing and drifting you get from double tapping a control group key. Coming from HON, I have a config that lets me hold space to center my current unit, I find it’s really helpful for quickly switching between units to check (I can hold space and swap between myself and the courier to quickly see exactly where he is and where he’s going, for example), and it’s also nice to easily walk Diablo-style when I’m not near any enemies.

Anyways, to start I’d like to point out a few catastrophic bugs with the feature. First of all, toggling the bind will often cause the camera to be either more or less zoomed in than it should be, and it’ll float back to the proper zoom if you press the mouse against the edge of the screen while the lock is on. This can be recreated by having dota_camera_lock set to zero, panning over a low point on the map such as the river, and then toggling it back on. The camera will snap back to you, and it’ll be very zoomed in. I’m sure you can imagine how problematic this can be, when I pan over to check a rune or something and then tap space to get back to myself, I’ll half to hold space and slide the mouse all around the edge of the screen to zoom back out where it should be.
This can be done in reverse too, by doing the same process but using a high point like a god ward spot instead of the river, and the camera will end up zoomed out further than it should. This proposes a big issue because it can be used to cheat.

Another similar bug with the keybind can be done by having dota_camera_lock set to 1 (on), and clicking and dragging up and down the mini-map. This will make the camera zoom in and out in real time, and it’ll stay where you left it unless you bump the edges with your mouse. This is a huge problem, because using this bug you can make the camera zoom out EXTREMELY far and get a massive field of vision. I’m amazed these bugs have been here so long, despite the keybind not appearing in the default settings.

So if these bugs can be fixed, I propose that this camera lock function should really be in the settings. It’s a very useful function, and it’d also help players coming from HoN and LoL get into the game easier. I’d suggest two keybind slots, one for “hold camera lock” and another for “toggle camera lock,” the difference being obvious. I’d almost go so far as to say it should be the default keybind, because Space’s “recent action” function is really just an RTS artifact and has very little use in Dota, and it’s also very easy for new players to accidentally tap it and get lost on the map.

So in summary, I thought dota_camera_lock is a pretty big setting, and I think it’s really gone unnoticed as it’s a very useful thing to have, and the bugs that come with it are huge and have a lot of potential to be abused to cheat the game. I’m amazed the bugs have gone on for so long, and I think awareness of it should be spread so Valve can fix it.
