Dota 2 stacking critic’s choice

Dota 2 stacking critic’s choice

Dota 2 stacking critic's choice

Creep Stacking

is the process of drawing neutral creeps away from their camps in order to increase the number of units in an area. Dota 2 stacking critic’s choice Generally, neutral creeps will spawn in the first minute of the game and at every minute thereafter. So 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 etc. However, new creeps cannot spawn if a unit such as a player or a ward is present within the camp’s boundry. By pulling neutral creeps beyond their camp boundaries, the game will generate a new set of creeps for the player to interact with in addition to any remaining creeps. This is incredibly time efficient, since it effectively increases the amount of gold available for a team. In many cases, a support who has stacked a substantial amount of creeps can build a sizable chunk of gold for not only his fellow teammates but also himself for getting stacking bonus of 35% of the bounty. However, this can work against you if the enemy team reaches your camps first and neither will the stacker get the bonus bounty.

Contents

Basics [ edit ]

To stack a camp, you can either attack a unit in the camp or simply walk close to it. The neutral creeps will then attempt to chase you for a few seconds before returning to their initial position. Most camps can be stacked at around the 53-54 second mark. However, this timing varies depending on the spawn box size and the type of units involved. If done correctly, a new set of creeps will spawn at the minute mark.

The above method can be done multiple times, but the timing might start to differ. This is because some creeps have auras which affect movement speed, and they can get in each other’s way. Furthermore, all neutral camps can be stacked indefinitely; as long as all the creeps have escaped the camp boundaries.

Camp Boundary Boxes [ edit ]

These images show the boundary boxes that the creeps cannot be in for a stack to occur. Click them for a larger size.

It’s always best to practice stacking as the hero you want to play before joining an actual match. The time at which you need to stack the camp will vary because of which camp type it is (different camps have differing lengths that the creeps will chase you), what neutrals are currently in the camp (some move faster than others, and some won’t leave until your hero gets out of their attack range), the attributes of your hero including their attack range if you’re attacking to get the creeps attention.

Each camp has a “Base Stack Time”. You will need to modify this based on your situation in the following ways:

  • subtract ≈:01 if you’re a melee hero & there’s a long-ranged neutral creep currently in the camp such as Vhoul Assassin Camp or Troll Camp
  • subtract ≈:00.25 If your ranged hero has a short range (such as Luna or Huskar) and there’s a long ranged creep currently in the camp.

Advanced Techniques [ edit ]

Certain heroes can stack creeps very quickly, such as Tinker and Clockwerk. With careful positioning and timing, Tinker can stack multiple camps at once using March of the Machines . Rocket Flare can block a camp or stack it from anywhere if Clockwerk damages the creeps.

Safespotting [ edit ]

By using ranged abilities, some heroes can attack and stack creeps at little to no risk. For example, Alchemist, Medusa, Bristleback, and Beastmaster can attack ancient camps at a distance using Acid Spray , Split Shot , Quill Spray or Wild Axes . With some trees cleared, the Radiant ancient camp can be attacked from the ridge near the secret shop. The Dire side is even easier due to high ground and the creeps can be reached quite easily from the upper ridge.

Creep Pulling [ edit ]

Although quite difficult to pull off, lane creeps can be used to absorb most of the damage dealt by a neutral camp. To do this, pull a neutral camp toward incoming lane creeps such that the incoming wave gets drawn toward the jungle. With careful timing, the camp will stack and the lane creeps can even be pulled toward harder camps which normally wouldn’t interact with the incoming wave. If done incorrectly, any remaining creeps will venture back into the lane and eventually push out the creep equilibrium.

Dota 2: The International Compendium Launches, Involves River Of Blood

17th May 2016 / 11:20AM

Valve have announced this year’s Dota 2 [official site] compendium for The International – it’s part of The International Battle Pass – so I’ve locked my wallet in a drawer before writing this news post because I can’t be trusted around compendia. Dota 2 symbol transparency paper 25% of the proceeds go to bolstering the prize pool for the tournament. There are no stretch goals this year but there are special rewards if this year’s prize tops the $18,429,613 of 2015.

This year’s shebang features a Vengeful Spirit taunt where she does Lindsay’s chicken dance from Arrested Development, the ability to turn the river into blood rather than water, and weekend mini tournaments…

First, let’s talk about what a battle pass actually is. There was one earlier in the year and what it did was make winter into a kind of long-running event where you could complete challenges along particular challenge pathways to unlock item sets and so forth. There was also a tipping system for rewarding other people after games and a time-limited winter-themed map and all manner of other things (wizard hats and the like). The International Battle Pass takes a similar approach.

There’s an initial bundle which includes immortal treasures, a courier, emoticons, a Crystal Maiden announcer pack and so on. There are also more quest paths which you can follow to earn battle points – this time the quests also have a difficulty level so three-starring them gets you maximum points for the task and, ultimately, an alternate style for your reward. Wagering and tipping are also returning so you can bet on the outcome of the matches and tip fellow players using the little in-game tokens.

Another option lets you track your MMR (matchmaking ranking) and see how high you can go on a leaderboard. This filled me with horror as I feel like visible MMR is one of the most toxic things in the game – or rather it leads to toxicity – but it looks like there’s a seasonal element to it?

A tournament thing each weekend so people can pretend they’re having a little International of their own, more transparency about where you get battle points from via a log system, rewards for leveling up with said points, and a classical architecture-themed terrain.

The latter is causing a kerfuffle on Reddit right now because you unlock it at level 125 (either by playing loads or just buying levels) and it has a kind of geometric hedge maze arrangement instead of the usual trees round the side so you can see the juke pathing really clearly. If that sounds like gibberish, basically the way the hedges work make the paths you can take around the trees really obvious rather than being part of the skill/memory challenge of Dota where players who have memorised the paths can use them effectively and people who haven’t get caught and trapped. The accusation is that it’s pay to win because if you chuck money at the compendium you can unlock the terrain style and not have to do the memorisation part.

I think the terrain itself is really pretty.

You can also unlock vials which change the colour of the river (blood is at level 2,500) and then there THE ACTUAL COMPENDIUM which is like the usual prediction stuff around The International itself.

You can read the entirety of what the battle pass offers over on their website. A level 1 battle pass is $9.99, to start at level 50 will set you back $26,99 and then you can purchase extra levels from $2.49.

You see why I am locking my wallet in the drawer? River. Of. Blood.

The International 6 will take place at Seattle’s KeyArena. Dota 2 symbol transparency paper The main event runs from 8-13 August. Open qualifiers start on 21 June and regional qualifiers begin on 25 June.

If you click our links to online stores and make a purchase we may receive a few pennies. Find more information here.

Picking The Right Hero For Your MMR Bracket

In the weeks after TI, we’ve seen a spike in the pick rates of heroes that who highlight plays on the main stage, especially by some of OG’s signature heroes. Ember Spirit’s pick rate increased by nearly 50%, in the aftermath of some stellar play by OG. ana. Dota 2 brackets mmr booster That’s also the case with Topson’s Monkey King, whose unorthodox hero pool has trickled down to pubs.

The reality is that these heroes may not be the best fit for your skill bracket. A hero like Ember Spirit has a high skill floor, which is evidenced by his declining win rate in lower skill brackets. Moreover, it’s a hero that can be strong when drafted in the appropriate situation, and not because you’re eager to Eul’s dodge an Echo Slam in your next pub game.

OG. ana Eul’s dodges an Echo Slam, igniting a wave of Ember Spirit players in your next pub game.

Our hero win rate stats that span across all pub games give a broad overview on what heroes are inherently strong for the majority of players. But for a more focused view, our heroes meta page shows pick and win rates segmented by skill bracket.

First things first, it’s ok to stray from convention. OG went back to their comfort heroes, regardless of the perceived strength of those heroes in the meta. Dota 2 brackets mmr booster And while most of us may not be pro-level players, there is something to be said about playing a hero you just like to play. That might explain why Pudge appears as the 4th picked hero in Divine and Immortal brackets, at a 27.86% pick rate this month, despite having less than a 50% win rate in the bracket.

Believe it or not, Meepo has the 2nd highest win rate in Crusader and below bracket.

So, it’s ok to play your Puck because you enjoy its voice lines, or Lone Druid because you want a pet Bear, even if these are two of the worst heroes in this patch. But for those wanting to climb MMR, our meta stats can provide some insight on what might work for your bracket.

Spectre and Wraith King may be the default for MMR climbers in the Ancient to Immortal bracket, but Vengeful Spirit reigns in Crusader and below, with a 60% win rate—a level close to pre-nerf Spectre. The hero is effective even after death, with straightforward skills that have little room to backfire, except for Vengeful Swap. Venge was one of the most contested supports at TI and has its highest pick rate, 20%, in the Divine and Immortal brackets. This number drops to 14% in Archon and 12% in Crusader.

It’s not surprising that support picks are sparse in lower brackets. A team with 4-5 cores is a common sight, even if it hamstrings your team’s farm priority and laning stage. But the success of support heroes like Vengeful Spirit, Lich, Undying, Crystal Maiden, and Silencer shows that you can have an impact on the game, especially in lower brackets.

That’s because, unless you are OG, winning the lane is important to winning the game. The meta rewards heroes for staying in their lane. With more XP for both last hits and denies, the meta has shifted to a 2-1-2 lane where every creep matters. That means picking heroes that are not only inherently strong in the meta, but also in your bracket. Lich, for example, isn’t as effective in upper skill brackets, but has a 54-56% in Archon and below. It’s a passive hero that won’t net you kills, but will win you the lane.

Dota 2 API: Hero Details

116 heroes and counting

Getting Hero Details with GetHeroes

This section will have us start making calls to the Dota 2 API provided by Steam. We’ll begin with a fairly straightforward call to GetHeroes , which will return a list of all available heroes in Dota at the moment. Then, we can use the data that we get in response and a URL for images to display hero portraits. Let’s start with a simple GET request to the following URL:

As noted previously, replace APIKEY with your own API key or the variable storing it. We can use it in our server-side code, as detailed below. This request also takes the common options listed in the Getting Started section.

Sample Server-Side Code

An example follows of how the JavaScript might look if using Node. js, Express, and Express Handlebars. You can use this as a template for your GET requests. This example will simply put a huge wall of text (the JSON object as plaintext) on a page named test and prints the JSON response to the console, which isn’t of much use to us right now, but we can tweak it down the line for our purposes, which we will see at the end of this section. For this sample code, your test. handlebars should have <> in it. You can store your API key outside of the function as a string global variable.

The result is a list of all 116 current heroes. For those that have played the game for a while, that Skeleton King is still Skeleton King (THE ONE TRUE KING), despite Valve changing his in-game name to Wraith King (for pressing ceremonial reasons).

For fun, let’s try using the language option (one of the common options outlined above) to get the heroes in Simplified Chinese (using zh_cn for the language).

The result now includes a localized name (in Simplified Chinese) for each hero! Tiny is literally “little little”.

Breaking Down the GetHeroes Response

The response is fairly straightforward, and there aren’t a lot of different keys to deal with in the response object. Here’s a breakdown of the response that we get:

  • result
    • heroes
      • name : The hero’s in-game tokenized string name
      • id : The hero’s ID
      • localized_name : The language-specific name of the hero for displaying the name; this field is not included if a language is not specified in the API call
    • status : Status of the API call
    • count : The total number of heroes in the list

Hero Images

Using the information from our response from GetHeroes , we can get hero portraits from Valve’s servers. The URL for the images follows the following format:

Replace HERONAME with the name of the hero obtained from the response to the GetHeroes call, but with the prefix npc_dota_hero_ removed. For example, use witch_doctor instead of npc_dota_hero_witch_doctor .

Replace SUFFIX with one of the four following options:

Best Beginner Heroes to Get You Started Playing Dota 2

I’m going to go against the tide here and recommend that new players play carries or cores and lane with experienced support. Whenever I am introducing friends to Dota 2, I always recommend that they pick a carry and come safe lane with me. It is much easier to focus on killing heroes than it is to learn the complexities of setting up fights, ensuring enough vision and detection that the team can make confident decisions on whether or not to engage. Pulling and stacking creeps is harder than it sounds, and requires strict timing and clock management. So here is a curated list of heroes I would suggest to anyone who wants to begin playing Dota. Complete list of dota 2 heroes for beginners

Phantom Assassin

PA has always been a great hero to stomp pubs. With some new buffs in the latest patch, Phantom Assassin is one of the best heroes for new players to start carrying with.
Why Phantom Assassin is a good hero for beginners:
Simple but versatile itemisation.

Why Phantom Assassin is a good hero for beginners:
Very easy to execute (it’s a two button hero after all)
Good counter pick against popular, squishy carries like Sniper, Drow Ranger and Anti Mage.

Wraith King

The king of wraiths or previously known as Skeleton King has always been a staple beginner carry. Often memed for being a one button hero, it’s still powerful and has a fantastic mechanic that stifles rampant feeding: reincarnation.
Why Wraith King is a good hero for beginners:
Different ways to build this carry due to versatile itemisation choices.
Roshan’s new Refresher Orb after 7.07 patch allows for fantastic triple or even quadruple reincarnation plays. The right balance of tankiness and damage dealing.

Sniper

Sniper is one of the most famous heroes with Dota newcomers, and with good reason. He might be a bit too squishy to stand toe-to-toe with other heroes, but that’s not how he’s supposed to be played. Usually a Carry hero (the role designated for dishing out massive damage later in the game), the Sniper is most effective when he’s at a distance from his target.

Why Sniper is a good hero for beginners:
His Take Aim ability lets him strike at enemy heroes and towers from far out of harm’s way.
While his Ultimate, Assassinate, deals extraordinary damage with a mini-stun as a bonus.
Just be sure to avoid close range combat. Sniper’s low health makes him an easy target for opponents who can close the gap.

Bristleback

Not only is he tough to kill, but he can dish out a lot of damage. The more quills he shoots, the stronger he gets, making it a simple process to rack up some serious killing power. If that wasn’t enough, he also moves faster as well! He indeed is a great character to start with, because he’s just so hard to kill even a novice will find it hard to get into a situation they can’t get out of.

Why BristleBack is a good hero for beginners:
His entire gimmick is that he takes considerably less damage from attacks that hit his side or back. He also will automatically unleash quills that damage those hitting him.
Also adding to his ease of use is the fact he only has 2 active abilities, while the other two are passive.

When you click ‘Play Dota’ the following slider pops in. These are the types of game modes offered by Dota 2.

The first option shown is ‘Custom Lobbies”; In it, you can play against your friends it is private and if you 10 friends online you can team up. 5 members each team and play against one another.

Then comes ‘Practice with Bots’. If you want to play offline, or want to practice a new hero, or just want to experience what an original game feels and looks like without the commitment, you can simply play here against bots.

The real game for which Dota 2 is known is the ‘Unranked’. In this category are subcategories each with different level of difficulty and time span. ‘Turbo’ is the fastest game mode in Dota is thus the most preferred whereas ‘All Pick’ is the longest and a single game can last for hours.

Once you select a game mode, you need to select regions to find opponents in. In the top right corner, right above ‘Find Match’ you can see a small option of ‘Regions’. Click it and the following screen will appear showing the ‘Ping’-Strength of your internet connectivity. Check regions with the best internet connection and start finding a match. Preferably Dubai, India, SE Asia And Europe East work best in Pakistan. You can only select 3 regions.

It will take around 5 minutes to find a match. And as it occurs, the following screen will pop.

Now there is no turning back. Accept it readily within a period of 30 seconds or else you will have to face a penalty. This is how to start a Dota 2 game.

And you successfully started your very first Dota 2, Turbo game.

How to end a dota 2 game

How to end a dota 2 game

How to end a dota 2 game

How to end a dota 2 game

I have assumed that you have low end PC and low end Internet and you may be knowing many of the stuff earlier. If you know anything, skip to next step.

Even if you have high specs PC and fast internet, there are still some stuff which can be useful for you. You can implement as many steps as possible or as you wish.
This will ensure that you have a smooth gaming experience.

I. Hard Disk Defragmentation
If we talk in easy language, Information is stored in form of small boxes on your hard drive.
So for example if Dota 2 is distributed on 25 boxes, then these 25 boxes will be scattered over whole hard disk. So de-fragmentation allows you to combine all those boxes in 1 part of your Hard Drive for smooth working of game.

Here is how we do it-
1. Go to My Computer
2. Right click on C Drive and from drop down menu, select “Properties“.
3. Go to “Tools” tab and select “Optimize“.
4. Another new window will open. Select the the drive in which Dota 2 is installed and click on Optimize.
5. Give it some time, it may take from 1 hour to 5 hours depending upon size of your hard disk and you are done.

Each time Dota 2 Crashes, it creates a crash dump report file in case you want to report the issue to steam or whatever reason they got. Size of each file is almost 35 MB. So just make a guess how much space that can create on your hard disk after every 6 months ?

First time I cleaned those files I freed up 2.3 GB of space form my Dota 2 folder. Again after almost 3 months this size has swelled up to almost 850 MBs.

You can remove all these files with “.mdmp” extension.
Do not worry it does not create any issue, I tested it my self. You can locate those files in C :/Program Files (x86)/Steam /SteamApps/Comom/dota2beta.

Here is how those files look like.

Just try and tell me in comments below, how much space you have got back ?

In case your C Drive is full of stuff and even after trying so much you can not get free space in it, then you need to install in any drive other than C Drive.
This can be a harsh but more stable solution. Here is how you can do it.

1. Uninstall Dota 2 from your system (The part with hardest feelings though 😀)
2. Click on Install button in Steam. When you will install it, it will ask you where you want to install it ? Then you should give it path to other drive where you have got enough free space.
3. Dota 2 needs only 13 GB of Disk space, but it is advised if you can keep almost 25 GB free space for Dota 2 for upcoming updates etc.
4. With this method, you will also erase all unnecessary files from Dota 2 Folder which actually occupied space in your hard disk. For example, if you just check out your Steam folder, it will be minimum 20 GB plus. But actually Dota 2 is of just 13.7 GB. So what are rest of those 7 GB files ? Those are just junk files that are stored on your computer regularly on each update.
5. Once you will install a new copy of Dota 2, then only almost 14 GB space will be consumed and you will free another 5-10 GB of space for sure.

Even if you have an awesome internet connection, still you should not run parallel downloading while playing Dota 2 online. It will eat out your bandwidth and data packets. Result may be high pings and may be packet loss too, thus lags and delay.
That is why it is highly recommended to shut down all torrent and other download managers.

Windows 10 is not like other operating system of windows in many aspects. There are many good features in it but for gamers it is really pain in the a**.

Magic Solution to All Windows 10 Problems :
Revert back to your previous version of Windows till we get a stable version of Windows 10

If you are facing regular Dota 2 crashes, then you need to read this guide to fix your Dota 2 Crashes.

It gives you almost all the solutions to the Dota 2 crashing problems. Give it a go.

Most of the antiviruses have Gaming mode by default in them.
Activating gaming mode will prevent your antiviruses from making any popup notifications. These popup notifications will minimize your game some times.

You can well imagine the fate if you are in middle of a gank and suddenly a stupid notification or ad from your antivirus appears and your Dota 2 gets minimized. When you restored your screen and you know your hero is dead and you have lost the battle and now your Barracks are under attack.
So just activate gaming mode before you play Dota 2.

I recommend using Avast Antivirus software which is free for 1 year. Well, here is a cheat, make a new email address every year and then make a new account to keep your antivirus free permanently. Thank me later 😀

You may have an excellent gaming PC for playing, but you need to optimize your settings specially video settings so that everything works perfectly. If you have good Graphic Card and RAM, you can play Dota 2 on high settings. But in case you don’t have high performance system, you will have to optimize your settings.

In game graphics should never get priority over in game performance. So you must first fix the performance issues, then you should go for good graphics.

You need to read this guide to optimize your Video Setting.

With console you can literally change your in game Dota 2 experience. We already have a detailed post about it which can tell you in detail about Console & autoexec cfg

You must enable Network Information while playing Dota 2. It gives you an insight of game while playing.
For example, if your Pings drop while playing, that means its your network issue, you need to fix your internet. But in case if your FPS drop, that means it has nothing to do with your internet, rather its your PC. So you will fix PC problem in later case.

That is why it is always advised that you keep the network information active. In Source 1 Dota 2, you had to enable it via Console, but thanks to Source 2 engine, Dota 2 Reborn has an option in settings using which you can Enable FPS and pings.

After settings are save, you can see FPS and network information like this.

Some times it may be your internet providers and some times it may be steam which may be causing high ping and lag issues. Obviously you cant perform well if you have high pings or lags.

I suggest you to use WTFast [www. wtfast. com] . It is a software specifically developed for the sole purpose of reducing in game ping and lags.

1. Go to main Steam window, right click on Dota 2 (or whatever game you have) and go to Properties.
2. New window will open. Go to 2nd tab which is Updates.
3. Go to background updates and select “Never allow background updates“.
4. Click Close and you are done.

In case you if you have lags and delays issues, then you should also have a look at this article Dota 2 FPS Issues And Crashes (Possible Fixes). It will surely help you.
